Curious when everyone introduced carbs. I'm one month post-op. Just as I'm able to tolerate textures just slightly more than baby food, I develop a very heavy metallic taste in my mouth. It's awful, everything I eat and drink tastes awful, even Water. Having a hard time eating and drinking. Doc gave me a new prescription to control acid, which he said is causing the metallic taste. But for now, everything makes me nauseaus. Starting to get weak from not eating and drinking. I so badly just want to eat a piece of dry toast with some jelly, which always used to soothe my stomach. No idea what it would do now, but I'm death staring the toaster every time I walk by it. I think my diet list has no complex carbs for like 6 mons or something ridiculous.

I'm 4 wks post op tomorrow, and just hit my stall 4 days ago. Down 27 lbs in total. I'm actually a little relieved, can give up my scale for the week and just relax. There's no way I'm not going to lose additional weight with my new eating and exercise habits. Body is also retaining Water right now. So, will try hopping back on once my ankles look a little less swollen. In the meantime, going to enjoy the compliments from people who are finally noticing I'm losing weight at almost 30 lbs!
Be easy on yourselves.

That's 5 lbs in 5 days, that's more than great. Especially considering you may still be swollen from fluids given in the hospital.

10 lb loss was the preop liquid diet. So "only" 12 lbs since surgery. All my pics were in bathing suits, watching too many You Tube videos lol. Have to dig up some before pics, but for the past year I've been making everyone who took a pic of me delete them. Sad, but true.
Thanks and u don't mind at all my bmi was 39 and the pic with the black pants was during pre op I couldn't find one before that until today.doing great! you look awesome! keep up the good work...you are only on week 5....think of all you can still do! If you don't mind me asking what was your BMI when you started?

So I'm a little over 5 weeks out and although I'm still learning, I feel great. I still have a issue seeing myself as plus sized but today changed my mind. Here's why ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1442440663.240546.jpg
Yowzer! Only 5 weeks out? 'm shaped very similarly to you. Only 2 weeks out today. Waiting for that one month mark to compare before/after. Right now I'm down 22 lbs and still look the same. You're my inspiration lol

do you mind sharing a blank spreadsheet? I'm a numbers person too and your spreadsheet sounds amazingI've been a a stall for a while. I ended up making a spreadsheet that calculates my deficits and forecasts my weight loss based on inputs. I realize that seems like overkill since I track on MFP but I am a math person and I need to take things apart and put them back together in order to figure out what I need to change.
I use BMR and it updates as my weight decreases so I know what I need to do. If your not into making a spreadsheet there's some really handy ones through google docs.

Walk walk! I'm 11 Days post op. Woke up feeling so great this morning that I hopped on my bike. Couldn't help myself, she was just standing there staring at me in the garage. Felt great. But by afternoon my stomach was sore and I slept for 3 hours

I agree with Chele. Schedule your surgery if it's what you want to do. They don't understand the health implications of remaining overweight. I didn't tell my parents till two days prior. Didn't want them spending weeks complaining about something I was going to do.

I'm only 11 Days post op, down 20 lbs and no one notices, not even me. Years ago I did a couple of HCG rounds. No one noticed till I had lost 35 lbs. But I carry my weight all over. I think that makes it harder to decipher than someone for example who loses 20 lbs of nothing but belly fat

On mind everyday. I'm choosing to be positive.
Hi, emma994! Had my surgery on Sept 4th, right before you. How are you recovering? We have similar goals!

I actually had two women at the mandatory pre op seminar ask me if someone told me that I needed surgery because I didn't look big enough. Wha???
Oh, my favorite, you're too lazy. You have nothing better to do with your money. Yeah, like I wouldn't rather be sailing the Mediterranean.
"Ok, so you didn't lose the weight by yourself", yes I did. With the use of a tool, but I'm not sitting around eating Twinkies all day.. You must be thinking of liposuction. I didn't go to sleep and wake up 20 lbs lighter.

Thank you both. I work from home, so by the end of the day pretty exhausted. Will focus on staying hydrated.

Hi, I'm 6 days post op. Trying to eat those 3 meals a day, but barely able to hit 100 calories a day up to 32 oz Water daily. Still very bloated and achy from surgery. Is there such thing as too few calories at this point? Adding Protein Powder where I can.

Hi, 6 days post-op'er. Trying to get those 3 meals a day in. But, barely hitting 100 calories a day, and up to about 32 oz of Water daily. Still bloated and achy from surgery. How many calories are too little? Adding Protein powder where I can, but ingesting so little can't imagine I'm getting all I need. scale barely moving. Only 5 pounds down from surgery - 9 lbs if I include the water weight gained from IV.
