  1. I love being told "you aren't THAT bad" & that I should accept myself the way I am. The thing is - what they see is my squished in my girdle & since I am tall I hide my weight well. (Or so I am told) You would think when they knew I was up to 280 they would realize why I wanted to stop this train & get healthy now!!!

Exactly! I needed to stop this train!

3 weeks out and I love how every morning I wake up to my husband standing over my side of the bed in disbelief at how small my stomach is. Hehehehe. This is only 3 weeks. You just wait.

  2. My dr chooses not to remove it. He said 1 in 4 have problems but 3 in 4 do not, so he doesn't feel he should routinely remove it during weight loss surgery.

My doctor agrees. I, unfortunately, had stones and needed to remove mine. I chose to do them at the same time.

  3. It's normal. And when you begin eating solid food you will then switch to becoming constipated. It's not uncommon to go days, if not weeks, without a bowl movement. I once went three weeks without one and when it finally struck I about died. Now I used laxatives once a week.

Sounds just like baby poop. When they're exclusively breastfed, it's like mustard cottage cheese. After you introduce solids, you wonder how something so small can poop such turds. Plus, they usually get constipated on the transition from breastmilk to food.< /p>

  4. Getting my Vitamin D level checked again tomorrow. I've been in pain after eating and went to urgent care yesterday because I barfed up my coffee. The doctor thinks it's my gallbladder, so I have to go in for yet another liver panel blood draw and an ultrasound. I asked if we could look at my vitamin D levels (they were 11 three weeks ago and have to be at 20 for me to have surgery) and the doctor ordered that blood test, too. If the numbers come back above 20 and my gallbladder is the reason for pain, I might be able to prioritize my RNY. Fingers crossed!

Oh no!!! Hope they can get it all done in one surgery!! Wow your D level was super critical low! I just got back my Vit D levels. I have been supplementing 4000 units per day for 6 months and my levels went from 19 to 43. Not very high over that long of a period, but it is back in normal range. How many units were you taking?

    I hope so, too!

I'm taking 4400IU per day plus 50,000IU once per week.

  6. I am having bypass either November 16th or November 23rd. I had the band done in 2008 and lost 100 pounds and gained back 40 so far. Started getting BAD reflux and throwing up everyday for years and years damaged my esophagus. Was originally going to have the sleeve but Dr says bypass due to reflux and irritated esophagus. I'm excited. I'm at 300 right now. Would like to get down to 150. Hope this works WAY better than the band... that was a waste of time and surgery.

This pic was taken about a month or 2 ago.

Welcome!! Your story is very similar to mine. I was also banded and suffered the same problems. I too was going to do the sleeve but with the same problems of reflux, I was told bypass was better option. This WILL work better than the band for sure! :)

come join us on Facebook! I'll send you PM.

Wait wait.....I want to be on Facebook.
