4 years, 150# lost and maintaining

Way to go!! you are an inspiration. I have read your posts on here for the last four months and have enjoyed all of them. Thank you for sharing your story and showing us newbies that this is a life long process and attainable!! Congratulations Lady!!!
  2. My chubby cheeks went down. Umm on my face.heh heh.
  3. Hi all. Had surgery this past monday 10/19. A couple of things I wasnt expecting. the girl checking me in for surgery said to me oh I had this surgery (gastric sleeve) two years ago. I looked at her and she was a pretty big girl but I mean for all I know she had a lot to lose and taking if off slowly. I just nodded. She then told me she had it with the same surgeon I was having today I said oh yes I really like him. She then tells me. she lost 85 lbs and then started eating bad and regained it all and then some. She took my copayment and said just dont be tempted or you will end up like me. wow didnt know what to say to that. Then one of my night nurses after my surgery said to me so you couldnt try anything else?? you just had to do this? (now this was after the surgery and I was in a room) I was like what?? I couldn't focus I was High on dalaudin. she said I just like to ask patients who do this why they didnt try other ways. I said you know this is what I wanted to do so that is why I did this.I also had a couple of nurses either putting on my compression stockings or helping get my gown off say wow you are not big at all.. what?? anyone else have weirdness from staff at the hospital?
  4. Hi all. Yesterday marked one month since I was sleeved. I was wearing a size 20 pants. They were feeling loose-but I was nervous about going down to the next size. Well I bought a size 18 last night and am wearing them today. So excited. feel good. This is the best thing I have ever done for myself. It was worth everything I had to go through and even the four days in the hospital that wasn't expected. Feeling great. More energy. Doing my happy down one pant size dance. So much to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving!!! Especially this encouraging web site. You guys are awesome!!! Peace to all.
  5. Hi you guys.. sorry I posted this and then got slammed at work. sounds like you are both doing well. I just had my month out phone call with my nutritionist . She said to try and get more Water in. Also to make sure I am eating my Protein first. I am so happy she said I could start taking Vitamins that are not chewable. the Multivitamins make me want to vomit. I have had some dumping as well. I had to learn that when I think I can eat one more bite that I CANT. I had to keep a roll of paper towels in my car just in case. Finally have that under control. I can only eat about 1/2 cup and sometimes not that. I dont try to push it. Good news is I have leftovers from lunch that last a couple of days. I feel better than I have in a long time. My incisions are still a bit sore and I feel them when I am exercising. I started back to jazzercise this week. and have had to slow down a bit and just march in place. thanks for checking in. Love to hear how everyone is doing. wishing you both well!!!
  6. Hey there my fellow Oct 19th sleevers. how are you all doing? I am doing good. My sleeve must be pretty small. If i eat more than three bites of anything -well up it comes. So I am trying to be very mindful and pay attention to that. I don't necessarily feel full-but that one extra bite and blahhhh--uncomfortable then just up comes the last bite i took. Not so great when you are at work eating lunch. Everyone thinks I am sick. or pregnant! ha no way -tied that jump rope up a longgg time ago. Still trying to get on track with my Vitamins. I miss some here and there. Went back to work two weeks after the operation. Would have went back sooner but I had internal bleeding and had to have another surgery after about 4 hours of being in recovery. So yeah a little set back. incisions are healing up nicely. Just one is still a little tender. So how are you all doing?? Big hugs!!!

    Packing My Hospital Bag...

Here are somethings that I was glad I packed-toothbrush and tooth paste, deodorant, phone and charger, I did pack my kindle fire for reading and I am glad I did because I ended up being there four days due to complications. I forgot to bring a pillow so hubby bought me a medium size sea lion stuffed animal to lay over my stomach for the ride home. that really helped with the bumping on the ride home. I wish I would have brought chap stick..ohh the dry lips after surgery was awful and I wish I would have brought a sleeping mask to block out the hospital lights from the hallway.. as usual it is hard to sleep in the hospital..but I think that would have helped. The nurse case manager told me to bring slippers to walk in and I never used them because they give you those non slip socks that are just fine for walking and when I left I wore the same clothes that I came in with. wishing you the best of luck=God bless. you will do fine!!!
  8. Thanks guys!! and Gals!!!

Congratulations!! you are going to be so happy!! Best of luck and God bless.
  10. @@Dub So glad you are doing so well. I am on my third week and havent had too much of a stall. Just slow and steady. But like you I am armed with all this great information from these encouraging folks on here! definitely helps!! I got cleared by my surgeon to go back to exercising and I love it. Feeling great. And yes loving lots of Protein. cheese-turkey-chicken-eggs.. I love not having that hunger.. from my tummy. I am so happy to hear how you are doing!!
  11. Just happy and thankful today! Got on the scale and I am at 219! Have not been under 220 in yearsssss. I am three weeks out and still learning how to work with my sleeve and listen to it. I am also realizing how much I used to graze. Wow I find myself at my desk looking for a snack. NOT HUNGRY. I am trying to be mindful of that and get up-stretch my legs-get something to drink if I want-but leave the food alone. So amazing what habits can do to us. I am finally able to cross my legs. Amazing feeling. and I know this one will sound silly but I am able to fold my hands like I am praying with the fingers all entwined and folded down. I couldn't do that before-fingers were to chubby. This sleeve is saving my life. So Grateful. Happy Friday all.. peace out trouts.
  12. Thanks guys and gals!!! Appreciate all of ya'll!!
  13. Ha ha. the church lady do! that made me laugh because I do stand up open mics (comedian wanna be) and I try not to cuss because I do some of that at church retreats.. the funny thing is some of the night clubs when I get a chance to do an open mic at a club/bar--well the guys call me the church lady cause I don't cuss.(well I do but..) so that was funny you called it the church do.. @@VSGAnn2014 thanks for the smile!!!
  14. Hey all I am 2 weeks post op. feeling pretty good. I was dancing yesterday to music in my kitchen while making halloween goodies for the neighbors (and for the first time in a LONG time I wasn't concerned about eating any of them. felt good!~) but anyways. two months before my surgery I joined jazzercise and loved it. I was going 4 days a week and loved it. The information I was given about exercising was kind of vague. I remember hearing 2 to 4 weeks after surgery. I certainly wont be doing the floor work which includes crunches but I would love to start moving again. I don't see my surgeon to check on the incisions until Nov 10th. Long story short how soon did you guys go back to exercising? I dont want to hurt myself but do feel like I want to move more. I go back to work this coming monday so who knows that alone might wear me out. I am an office manager but still sitting that long might wear me out. thanks for any help with this. love the support on here.

    Exercise? how soon?

@Babbs@jess9395@BLERDgirl@thisfathasgot2go Hey thanks for the replies!! I dont see my surgeon until Nov 10th. I think I will see how going back to work feels. Might try walking on the treadmill at my gym then do some of the dancing and like you said modify it to not strain myself or hurt my self. Love all these ideas!! yes safety first. Thanks guys!!!!

    Best before & After photo!

Wow! what an inspiration. God bless and Thank you for sharing!! best to you!!
  18. Hi all. I am one week post op. I have lost 6lbs. but at first I gained 10lbs just from the surgery. It was unbelievable. But I also had a lot of fluids from the surgery-along with internal bleeding and two blood transfusions. I wasnt taking much in so I was surprised at the gain even though I had been warned. but things are good now. I can only take in a couple of teaspoons of food at a time like cream of chicken soup and cream of wheat. Not hungry but know I have to keep getting food into my body. Am on track with my vitamins. The incisions are bruised and so so sore. Hubby took off the first week. I thought I would be back at work this week but the set backs from the complications kind of made me slow down. getting my strength back and ready for this new beginning. I am on pudding-yogurt- with no fruit-cream of soups-for another week. Thought I would start posting on the Post Op side. yippie. So happy to be on this journey with so many cool people on here!!!

    Kaiser Nor.Cal

@ I had dr. Baggs but Dr Im did all of my follow up check in's at the hospital I had some internal bleeding and had to stay 4 days so dr. Im checked in on me everyday there after surgery in richmond. I think dr. baggs was out or something? he just showed up the next morning and said hi I work with dr. baggs with his patients. and that was it he ordered all my post op stuff while I was in the hospital and even called one night to let me know my blood work was looking better and could go home the next day -he is a good dr. he makes sure you are ok and doesnt take any chances. they will treat you good at richmond my surgery was oct 19--. take a sleeping mask if the lights and noises bother you. that was the only thing I wish I had taken. its hard to rest in a hospital that is for sure! best of luck hun!!

    itching and first compliment

I havent gone back to work yet. I was only going to take a week off but then I had some complications so I needed this extra week. hope to go back this coming monday nov 2. I am a little nervous. I work at a desk but even now sitting up or driving seems to wear me out easily. I was huffing and puffing just now bringing my laptop in to my bedroom. ha. so I dont want to push it. but it is getting easier to do a little bit more everyday. I did take some before pics. soon as i figure out how to post them I will. liquid seems to go down a bit easier now. I can take a little more in at a time. I dont get the dumping syndrome feeling. I get what feels like heart burn for a few minutes. I take that as hey no more. that is usually after about 2 tablespoons of mushy food. still not too hungry so am thankful. peace out!
  21. I had surgery on Mon oct 19th was only supposed to spend one night. I had a lot of scar tissue the doc had to take out(from colon cancer 10 yrs ago) it seemed the surgery went well. but I had a fever in recovery-my blood pressure was way low and my heart rate was way too high. I tried to stand up and almost hit the floor if not for hubby.I was rushed back into OR because of internal bleeding. in the last three days have had 2 blood transfusions and both hands and arms so bruised up from needles and I.V.'s finally my hemoglobin numbers got up again so I was discharged today. now seems I can focus on the sleeve part. pretty bruised up on my stomach and hard to get in and out of bed but I continue to walk and take my pain med. I weighed in the day of surgery 229 and today I weight 240 omg so glad I was warned of this. all I have had over the 3 days all together is maybe a cup of broth-two runny jellos= and a non caffine tea. but I am still so glad I was able to have this surgery.I did wake up with shoulder and neck pain from the gas but has gone down a lot. ask for pain meds they will help. I am not hungry so far. but making sure I get in the liquids now that I am off saline. If I sip too fast it makes me burp and my throat hurt. ok off to night night.
  22. Had the sleeve done then four hours late had internal bleeding and had another surgery. Wasn't how I pictured it. Have to spend another night here to get iron in my Iv to make sure red blood cells are ok dull ache in my incisions. But also dizzy and light headed. I just want to go home.
