  1. @@miiasan I just turned 60 in Sept. so I'm thinking the age may have a little to do with the slower loss of weight. I go back to the Doctor's on the 19th & will weigh then. Everything is going so well, even my incisions are so much better & small.

You all are so great to run things by & have going through this journey! Helping each other to not give up & we all have our moments of feeling like we aren't doing enough!! We will get there!!!!! Look out everyone, the October list is going to be a great success in weight loss!!!! We might have to have a convention next year!!!

  2. @@irishaggie I go once about 6 to 7 days then I have to drink Miralax for a couple of days to get things going. I know I don't get enough Water or Protein so I'm drinking a cinnamon roll shake with 30 grams of Protein hoping that helps with the hunger. I know I need to walk more and need to get out daily. I'm stuck in a rut and it's lasted for a while. I'm feeling like a big failure, and I have been telling myself "I can't even do this right"

It sounds like your not getting enough to eat or drink going that far out. I'm having to take miralax every other day. And sometimes everyday. I take it with my Water in the evening. My routine is working really well for me & I too never feel completely full, glad other's are experiencing this too. I just measure all food out so I don't eat more than 1/2 cup. My routine is a premiere Protein Shake in the morning 30g protein & I drink 1 16oz of water till lunch. At lunch I will eat 1/2 cup of chili, or ham & Beans, or cottage cheese with unflavored protein power, or yogurt with unflavored Protein powder. I get those 32oz Powerade zero fruit punch flavored & add a scoop of unflavored Protein Powder to it & drink it after lunch till dinner 21gr protein. dinner is a small piece of grilled chicken 1/4c & 1/4 c cottage cheese. I drink my last 16oz water after dinner till bed. I put miralax every other night in my after dinner water. I have one snack a day of string cheese. That gives me my 64oz of water & over 60gr of protein. I haven't weighed but I can tell by my cloths I'm loosing. I'm not exercising but I'm walking for 30min. (somedays not every 2x a day). I was stuck in a rut too when everyone else lost so much more than I the 1st two weeks (5 lbs) for me, so I had to stay away from the scale. Your not a failure, you took a big chance to have surgery & I think you are very brave!!! You had your surgery 1 week after me so your a little over 3 weeks & I didn't feel like doing much or have energy till after the 3 weeks, & with my routine, I'm finally feeling like my old self. You will too! Give yourself time & maybe a routine like mine will help. If I don't get my water or protein I feel it the next day & can tell. Let me know how you are doing, I will be thinking about you!

  3. @@Mogwaicat The scale is not my friend right now, my weight is still coming off slow, & so many are making such good progress I was getting discouraged, so now I stay away until the Dr. appointment & hopefully I will be surprised. I did notice my bras are looser of course the boobs 1st ;-( & my jeans were a little looser for the 1st time. I'am also starting to walk a little farther. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for us!!!

  4. Did you have cheese on it? I can have refried Beans this coming Friday. I bought the taco bell refried beans in a can from Walmart. Hope it taste the same lol

No I didn't have cheese, I was afraid for my first time eating. Went to a mexican restaurant for the 1st time tonight & had some chicken & refried beans & guacamole that I have been craving for a month!! All went well, I just didn't go over 1/2cup of food & took my time. I'm 4 weeks out.

  5. I haven't been able to spend much time on the computer the last couple of days, but was so glad to hear about @@395Ron is home & doing better!!!!!

Glad everyone is doing well! I'm doing well, feel like I never had the surgery, other than eating small amounts & not being hungry. On the pill issue I have always been able to take my meds that weren't chewed whole with a small amount of Water. I don't know why some allow it & other's don't, maybe the hernia op or type of surgery. I get all my liquids in a day 64oz. I drink one 16oz plain water in the morning, 32oz Powerade zero with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder in it after lunch, & the other 16oz of plain water after dinner with if I need it some mirilax to keep things moving. On the protein I drink one premiere Protein Drink a day 30 gr, the 20gr in my powerade zero, & the rest I try to get in with food 2 meals 1/2cup each & a snack of white lowfat string cheese. I don't seem to have any trouble with any foods so far & I no longer take sips of liquids, they are normal amounts. I'm four weeks out. I think I have lost 10 lbs since surgery, but will weigh when I go back to the drs. I weighed last week & decided not to weigh anymore. Not weighing at home so I don't get discouraged.

  6. I had my surgery on 10/8 3 1/2 weeks out. My highest weight 238, surgery weight 230. Current weight 220. I seem to be loosing about 2.5 lbs per week so far. It seems like I would loose more with as little as I'm eating but I have always been a very slow looser. Although I never could loose like this in one week. It would take me twice as long, & starving at the same time. I have just a slight feeling of hunger when I haven't ate in 5 hrs. I have no trouble eating anything, but keep the amounts only at 1/2 cup at a time 2x a day. I have a Protein shake with fat free milk in the morning. I'm walking everyday but for only 30min. I feel great, getting energy back & no pain. I still have a little bloating & have to add Miralax every other day to my Water to keep things moving. I get at least 60g of Protein a day & 64oz of Water.< /p>

    Hopefully I'm doing everything right!!

  7. @@Cali_Angel The only thing on your list of soft foods that I was able to eat up to 2 weeks by my surgeon's plan was the sugar free Jello & fat free broth. The rest was Ok for me to eat at 2 weeks for my soft foods. Other's were able to go to soft foods after 1 week. I would call your surgeon & ask again to be sure. Your tummy is healing & if you were to have trouble with one of the foods & got sick it would be very hard on you. We all are different & also some have hernia repairs, or have the Roux N Y like I did rather than the sleeve. So these may make a difference. You have to get the Protein in & the Protein Shakes gives you the most protein at this time when you can't eat much, where the other foods make it hard to get it in. Hope this helps you! The 2 weeks will pass by before you know it!!!

  8. scale victory. I'm under 200 lbs for the first time in forever.

    Started at 240 in July.

Around 206 on surgery day 10/27.

These changes are happening so fast and everything feels weird and surreal. Maybe it takes a long time to find a new equilibrium.

Congratulations!!! I know that must feel really good!!!! You are doing so good!!!!! I've been looking at cloths online that I might buy once I meet my goal! I'm thinking I might buy a few things that go on sale after winter even if I don't weigh my goal weight yet, mostly sweaters & coat.

  9. My first thing was refried Beans, then I had lowfat cottage cheese, greek yogurt mixed with some Unjury strawberry Protein Powder. I mix a little of the unflavored unjury in a lot of things. I also after I saw I could tolerate those things I had a 1/2 cup of chili. Then some tilapia. I chew everything till its creamy & eating very slowly waiting at least 1-1 1/2 min. between bites. I measure everything out in 1/4 cup or 1/2 cup so I don't eat too much. I seem to fill up faster on chicken so I only measure out 1/4 c. A typical meal might be 1/4 c cottage cheese with 1/4 cup fish. I will drink my Powerade zero 32oz with a scoop of unflavored Protein powder to get more protein & still get that much of my liquids. The rest of my liquids will come from plain Water.< /p>

    Hope this helps.

Lisamarie. I think mashed potatoes are off limits for me forever. Wasted carb calories with no protein. My nutritionist would croak if I asked her that. Plus I want to respect my sleeve and not cheat it. Been thru too much. Why do you even want mashed potatoes?

instant mashed potatoes are on my third week list of foods, one of the first soft foods I can eat. I think the reasoning is that there are few truly soft foods to work with and the purpose is to get the digestive track running. Potatoes are NOT a long term option however.

What else to eat for 3rd week soft foods besides mash potatoes

  10. I had my surgery on 10/27. Day 6 and I feel fairly normal except for the gassy tummy. Going to stop liquid Vicodin.

At our support group, a rep from Bariatric Advantage came to describe their probiotic. I think it's worth a try. Tired of hearing my belly gurgle. It's very loud!!!!!! Can't imagine it gurgling at work.

I was wondering if a probiotic would help, haven't tried that, & I still have a little problem, not like the first 2 weeks though! Let us know how it works!

No I haven't heard anything. I 'm so hoping he is alright! Ya the chili recipe has a lot of ingredients, hope you like it, let me know! I had a small episode of eating to fast talking on the phone & eating, just got to the stuck & uncomfortable. My husband has to tell me sometimes to slow down. I chew well but try to go back to eating to fast. I haven't weighed again but feel like I may have lost another 5 lbs. My scale is different than my dr.'s so I don't want to get discouraged. So If I'm right I have lost 10lbs since surgery day. Not alot, but way better than if I hadn't had the surgery plus not starving!!!
