  1. @ I bet when things get moving it will go down! lol not literally but the weight! I try to take Miralax with my Water every other day, have you tried it?

@@s0rda Great news about the weight & pant size! I put my 1st pair of jeans, my comfy slightly loose ones before surgery in my good will bag today, got to loose!!! I too just started drinking coffee again 1/2 cup with premier vanilla shake in it, its so good!!

  2. @@ELF36 This should make you feel better, I had my RNY on oct. 8th. At my 2 week check up I had lost 5 lbs since surgery. My doctor was fine with it. I decided then that I would stay away from my scale until my 6 week check up which is this coming Thurs. I can still fit in my cloths but they are looser. I'am scared I haven't lost much but will see. I'm hoping for an average of 2.5 lbs a week. At 6 weeks that would be 15 lbs. that is what I'm hoping for! I think it all levels out, some loose right away, some later, & some like me hopefully a slow consistent loss! Best of luck to you, we are all here!!!!

@@Mdale Welcome to the group! your niece is right this is a great group!! We are here for the ups & down's! Can't wait to hear how your surgery goes!

@@kvoneye I have been having to cook for a going away party, & will be cooking a couple of meals for a friend who had triple by pass surgery. I'm making everything I love but can't eat, craving some! My Mom was asking me what we are fixing for thanksgiving, I told her turkey & more turkey! I'm craving pumpkin pie, so I found a recipe on here for one you make crustless with the vanilla premier shake! I'm going to try that so I can feel like its Thanksgiving!!!

Sending you some hugs & hopefully today will be better!!!

I was able to walk yesterday farther than I have before, 40 min. yea!!!! I try to walk everyday which I hope will help in the loosing process!

Not sure if this is the one you are looking for It was called "Secret Recipe Homemade Chili" In Delicious High- Protein recipes. Calories Protein

    3 lbs. 95% Lean Ground Beef 2616 396 g.

    1 can Low sugar Tomato Soup 175 3 g.

    2 cans Dark Red Kidney Beans 700 49 g.

    1 lg Sweet Onion chopped 40 1 g.

2 large cans or 4 small cans of Stewed Tomatoes 420 14 g.

    season to taste

    Total 3951cal 463 g. protein

We are big chili eaters in my home so I made a big batch of my home made chili like I always make it only using the lean ground beef & leaving out sausage. I had no trouble eating it & could eat 1/2 cup. Mine has a lot of ingredients but my family loves it so much so I tried it with no problems. My original recipe is in the October list of surgery's thread as Irishaggie asked for it.

So glad to see you back! We have missed you!!!!!! We had about 110 people ask to be put on our list! I have noticed, now that people are post surgery, we don't hear from them as much, which is understandable. Everyone is getting back to their busy lives & doing well!!! Everyone's progress has been at all different speeds, & we all have gotten down at times, but with this fantastic group the support has been wonderful!!! Its amazing how fast the body heals & I believe & will still be praying that your recovery will be quick! Thank-goodness you were in good shape to begin with!!!!! Before you know it you will be walking farther than ever!!! Me I seem to only be able to walk 30min. but today I'm going to go a little farther!!!! Good luck with the chili, it has helped me a lot!!!

  8. Well today is the day! I am about to take my husband to the hospital!!!! He has his surgery at 11am. I am so happy for him but I think i am way more nervous for him then I was for myself. My stomach has been in knots since I woke up. Can everyone please pray for a successful and complication free surgery. We have only been married 7 months and I just don't know what I would do if anything happened to him. I have complete faith in our surgeon but for some reason my nerves are getting the best of me!

Best of luck to your husband Edie! He will have the best of care, from above with all the prayers & you! He has an advantage of you knowing just what to do for his care!!! Sending you hugs & prayers!

  9. Had my 1 month post-op today. Down 30lbs! Feels amazing! How is everyone else doing?

Glad to hear you are doing good! I'm doing great! I only lost 5 lbs the 1st 2 weeks & haven't weighed since so i don't get discouraged, I go back to the dr. in a week so I will weigh then to see how much I have lost in 6 weeks. Cloths are feeling loose, but not too loose to quit wearing yet. I don't even feel like I had the surgery now! I'm amazed at how easy it was for me, thank-goodness!! How about those sooners!!! not too bad!!!

  10. After my surgery my 1st night in the hospital I was so tired & couldn't feel the need to go the bathroom until I was extremely full! I started to get out of bed & the pressure of not using my stomach I literally went in the bed while getting up & dribbled all the way to the bathroom, the nurse was there helping me up & I was so embarrassed. She said she could get me some depends for me. Well I told her I didn't need them, & sure enough the next time I needed to go I started getting out of the bed & there it went. The nurse had to change my sheets twice!! I finally took the depends then!!!! She said it was very common for people to have problems after surgery. I didn't know I would need the depends so if you think you may ask the nurse & tell her you may have that problem & they will help you out, or bring some to slip on! Hope this helps, it does happen!

  11. Well this should make some people feel really good about their weight loss! I lost 5 lbs at my 2 week check up after surgery. I was very disappointed when I heard of everyone else's loss that was so much more than mine. My Doctor was still pleased & said to keep up the good work & everyone is different. I'm 60 so age could have something to do with it, also how much muscle you have & how much you walk. I walk every day for 30min. I get my Protein & Water in & only eat 2 meals 1/2 cup & 1 snack of string cheese. I'm now almost 5 weeks & haven't weighed to not get myself depressed. My next Dr.'s appt. is at my 6 weeks the 19th of Nov. & I will weigh then & see how I'm doing. My cloths are starting to feel looser so I think I may have lost more but I'm not going to let someone else's # get to me. So glad I found this thread because I know I'm not alone. Best of luck to you all, we will get there, some faster than other's. Oh & I had the RNY

  12. The only way I can get Water I'm is taking bigger drinks. I have no pain with it,but I do struggle with getting 64oz. I know some days I starving and that's when I know I don't get enough Protein in. I'm hoping by taking bigger drinks,I'm not stretching my new pouch. That's all I need is to fail at this too. I asked my dr if I could take bigger drinks and the reply I got was "I don't know, can you?" When it comes to eating I take smaller bites and chew until it almost dissolves. After a few min I just stop eating. I'm not necessarily full yet. What am I doing wrong? I fear I've stretched the pouch. On another note, I hope everything goes well for Ron and everyone else that is struggling.

I was wondering about the bigger drinks because I also no longer sip my liquids, I take normal size drinks this last week & it does help get in your water so I hope were not doing harm. On the eating I'm the same as you, small bites chew well & when I reach a 1/2 of cup I just stop. I never feel too full & never have that I can't eat anymore except with chicken I get a full sensation at about 1/3 c . I haven't felt nausea nor like I will vomit etc. I have no hunger except when I haven't ate in a long time & its just a slight feeling I need to eat. So hopefully we are doing very well!!! One of the things that I have a hard time with is making myself walk a little farther every day. I seem to still poop out to soon. I may need more protein but I will wait till I go back to the dr. to see how much I have lost & what I need to do to get the weight coming off, still don't feel like I have lost much for over 1month now.

  13. I called my doctor about my consistent vomitting.

And he lectured me... said I was eating too much. That it doesn't matter if I only eat one bite. If I'm full, stop. Period. That my nutrients are coming from my Protein drinks, Water and Vitamins.

Then I told him how tired I always was and nauseated.

    Again. Lectured.

Not drinking enough Protein (which I haven't been... been about 20g a day) and not enough Water which nauseous is the first sign of dehydration. And I haven't been getting 64 oz in, only about 40.

But today I did so much better. And no vomitting. Except this morning before I called. Which was all phlem/snot. I'm getting a cold I think.

Its so hard to get it all in when you have to sip everything! But I know for me everyday that I don't get 64oz of water & at least 60g of protein the next day I feel terrible. So once you start getting the amounts in you will feel better & have more energy. Sending you hugs & I hope if its a cold it goes away soon!

  14. Hi guys!! Just wanted to know if anyone has heard anything about Ron.

I also wanted to say that you guys are an encouragement for me. I thought I was going to be in the October group but I haven't had my surgery. Seeing your posts have helped me to keep on fighting. You guys are doing it!!! One day soon I'll be on the losers' bench!!

Ron had another set back. He came home from the hospital & was taken back to the hospital for a possible blood clot in his lungs. So far haven't heard anymore. Praying for a full recovery for him!

You can still be in our Oct. group! Have you gotten a date yet?
