Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

Yep, 3.5 weeks out here… stalled around 2.5, moved a little last week or so and now at a standstill again… I guess I just need to stay off the scale, lol!

I ate mashed some mashed potatoes, just to get me thru my week of purees... I'm almost a month out and allowed all foods, so I don't have it now...
  3. That is a good sauce…. Another good one for us post surgery is Mari Batalli's sauce. Very low sugars
  4. My "last supper" was pizza and a bottle of cabernet! Although, I'll admit, I had many "last suppers", lol… Even made a list of places I just had to go to before surgery! PF Changs Vic & Anthony's El Tiempo Shogun Chick fil A … Unfortunately, the list is long! I agree, this is a fun topic and, as you mentioned, it is interesting to compare our mindset from before to the way we feel now… I gag a little just thinking of all these foods now! Not saying that I will never crave them again, but I've learned so much in this journey and know those foods will never have the same hold over me again.

I have a cautionary tale for you, my fellow post-surgery mates… Last night I was in a hurry to get to my son's football game. I warmed up my dinner, a kinda pita pocket hamburger (it was a "diet" food, low carbs/sugars, etc., frozen section of Kroger)… I was excited because I am now allowed regular foods and this was the one of the first "regular" things I've eaten in over 6 weeks. So! I. ate. too. fast Just as I was sitting down to watch my son's game, I felt it… a pain in my lower chest… some of my dinner was stuck. I did not chew well, like I know that I am supposed to do. It was so awful. I broke out in cold sweats and, though I could breath, could not stop gagging. I had to go to the parking lot, hide between cars, and vomit my saliva (heard it referred to as "the foamies"). After about the third time, a small piece of food came out. The piece was not anything that I would have had a problem with pre surgery… honestly, it was tiny by normal standards. Even after I threw it up, I continued to vomit saliva, that I was unable to swallow, for about another 5 minutes. Following advice I found online (yes, many others have experienced this horrible experience, apparently), I have been on liquids only for 24 hours. From what I have read, no long term ill effects can be expected, but inflammation is common. I knew I needed to take small bites and chew, chew, chew, but I became over confident and rushed too damn much…I've learned my lesson, for now! Hopefully, my own little post-bariatric surgery nightmare will help you guys remember the rules and avoid such an unpleasant (and scary) situation in the future.

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

I was getting the pulling sensation maybe 4 or 5 days post op I'm 3 weeks post op today and haven't had the pulling sensation in 2 day. I think it may be the way we get up. My incisions got achy after a productive day I think it's from all the movement. I had this, too... As with sylviaflowers, it went away and I have not felt it in a while, but took about 3 weeks... Thinking about you today @@edie091371 and hope your first day back goes smoothly! What a bummer about your boss… such ignorance, so frustrating. Good to know that you are able to leave all that behind if she is not supportive… you do not need that in your life right now!

Anyone having surgery in Oct ?

That is a good plan… I work part time for a real estate agent (desk job) and went back to work on Thursday of last week. I work from 10-3. It is more than just the fatigue, etc. that was a concern for me… It was planning my food and liquids while being away from the house and on a schedule. I did find, however, that it is easier than when I was on all protein shakes and liquids, pre op! I grabbed a 32 once smart water, a triple zero yogurt, and a third option (protein shake, soup, ricotta bake, etc.) and I was good to go! Good luck on Tuesday, but I know you'll do great! It sounds like you work at a great place and they will be flexible with your needs, so that is the first step

@@60&goin4it - From everything I've read (and I think we all can say we've read a lot!), that is very common! When you consider you probably put on 5 just with the extra fluids, etc. from surgery and have lost an additional 4.5, that sounds great! Your doctor is happy, too, so that is wonderful! Your positive outlook and big heart have inspired so many on these pages (myself included!) and this post is yet another example of how your support and feedback helps us all… we all have encountered (and will continue to) this same challenge and will remember your perseverance and positivity during these slow times… Thank you for sharing!
