  1. Hi! I am going to be sleeved on 12/7/15 in Mexico. I am more excited than nervous right now!!!!
  2. Surgery date is December 7th in Mexico. Start my Pre-Op diet on 11-22. I'm in Kentucky. Not nervous.....Yet!
  3. Accountant for Workforce Development. I am also the American Red Cross Coordinator at my workplace.
  4. Thanks for all the stories. Glad I am not the only one this has happened to. Just goes to show how people who know nothing about what you are doing is suddenly an "expert". If it didn't make me so mad it would almost be comical.
  5. I am just standing my ground with people. Telling them that this IS happening. They can support me or keep their feelings to themselves. I have to do what's right for me.
  6. Anyone ever tell you DO NOT go to Mexico? I just had a dietitian at a Bariatric Seminar freak out on me when I told her I was going to Mexico. I informed her that it was done through Bariatric Pal, and she looked at me as if I was crazy! She works for a Bariatric Center and didn't even know what this was. hmmmm She said I would be "butchered" in Mexico. I told her I had done my research and it is 100% legit and I am doing it. So my question to all of you, is who has completely freaked out on your Mexico Decision?
  7. Good. Let's keep each other updated!!!
  8. It is a funny name I made up 5 years ago and I actually like it...as do a few others based on their compliments. If we can't accept ourselves then no one else will either. With that said, I see you have over 6,000 posts, so do you have any helpful advice or information as I begin this journey? I personally think it is a great name. And I think it is awesome that someone can have fun with themselves and the name they pick. We all find humor and offense in different things. I know Fatty McFaster will succeed no matter what his name is or what anyone else thinks of it.
  9. Good for you!!! Keeping you in my thoughts!!
  10. I am scared of thought of possibly failing. But what scares me more is what happens if I don't try and stay obese. How long before I have a heart attack? How old will I live to be if I don't have this surgery? Those thoughts are what made me make up my mind to preceed with the surgery
  11. I think it is really easy to get discouraged during the process. I have also felt that way and so has my husband. This is a major decision so just take time to think about it. Set down and write a pros and cons sheet. In the end you have to do what is best for you. I have chosen to have the surgery because I have finally decided I want the next 35 years of my life to revolve around me feeling better, being healthy and enjoying life after spending the first 35 loving food. Just set back and think about why you even started this process in the first place. Just know that we here on BP are here for you!!! Good luck in whatever decision you make!!
  12. I am having my VSG surgery in Mexico on December 7th. Anyone else getting Sleeved that day? Would love to have a buddy to chat with through this journey. ☺️
  13. I can't wait do what you described. Me and my husband are gtting sleeved before the end of the year. We love to travel and like you we have gained weight. Hopefully next years vacation will be filled with lots of new activities and not so much food! ????
  14. Looking so forward to having surgery with Dr. A, his staff and the Bariatric Pal team on December 7th!!! I can say after all my research and speaking with Dr. A via face time I am very comfortable putting this big decision I have made in his hands!! So excited!! Yay!!!!
  15. I didn't find a single health plan in Kentucky that covers it. Seem to be sticklers. I am going the Mexico route.
  16. I looked into this but nothing in Kentucky includes in their plans. I am going to go to Mexico.
  17. My insurance didn't cover any form of Bariatric surgery so I paid out of pocket $4250 plus airfare and went to Tijuana Mexico through Medical Tourism. Best experience ever! Michelle Thanks Michelle!! I have started the process to go to Tijuana also through Bariatric Pal. Things are looking up!
  18. Thanks. I might have too look into this!! I appreciate the reply. I am for sure going to check this out.
  19. Anyone out there get denied through insurance because of where you work? I was told my insurance covered my sleeve surgery as long as I did my pre cert which included the 6 months of medical supervision. I am in my 4th month and found out today that insurance will not cover. My workplace is self insured so they get to come up with the "rules". They say they will not cover any bariatric surgery or any weight loss plan. I am so heartbroken!! ???? Anyone else have a problem like this? If so what did you do. I am ready for this awesome change in my life!!! ????
  20. Great news Mr. McFatster!! Good luck! You are less than a month away from your awesome new journey. I know you are going to have lots of support through this!!!!! ????
  21. That is so awesome!!!!! Good luck. I am here for you through this!!!! ????????????
  22. After completing all of the requirements and recommendations, I now have a surgery date of November 20th. Woo hoo!!! That is awesome!!! Congrats!!
  23. I'm just a little north of Louisville... Having my surgery in New Albany hopefully in December Good luck!!
