  1. Who's getting their surgery in January? I just got my insurance approval today, and I meet with my surgeon Wednesday the 16th of Dec. The scheduler said that I will most likely get my surgery on the 5th of january because he only has one scheduled on the 5th, and he is out of the office until my appointment! I am beyond excited!

    January Surgery Dates!

So here's the thing, Nonmembers cannot request to be in a secret group. You can only be added if an existing member invites you. I will have to make it a closed group, at least for now.

    Mainers!

Hello! I am from the augusta area and I am 20 years old. I will be having my surgery at MGMC in augusta with Dr. Bang. Just wanted to connect with people in the state of maine so we can all help each other!
  12. We all know Water and chicken broth, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to mix up the 2 weeks pre-surgery that involves Clear liquids??? And What are some of the best options for the soft foods stage? I am so worried about doing the 2 weeks prior to surgery without my tool. I think with more variations, it might help!

  16. !) Seeing anything but "E" on my scale 2) Not being terrified of Metal/Plastic/camping chairs! I have had one break underneath me at a family reunion--not fun. 3) Being able to find clothes nearly anywhere and not having to pay extra for a little more fabric. 4) Being able to have my sprained ankle heal 5) Getting rid of my joint pain 6) Not being sweaty all the damn time and get rid of my chronic chaffing/rashes! 7) Being able to marry my wonderful fiancee without feeling insecure on one of the best days of our lives. 8) Spending less on Groceries!!!!! 9) Waking up energized- feeling more energized throughout the day. 10) Avoiding as many health problems as I possibly can. 11) Being able to have a much healthier pregnancy when the time is right. 12) Not having to say "I can't right now, I'm in so much pain" when my Fiancee wants to take a long trail walk with me. 13) Not have people overlook me for opportunities- jobs, friends, etc. 14) The Pride! Knowing that I did what was best for me, and I gave it my all. I could keep going, but i will save you guys! lol

    Mainers!

I have my first consultation with the Surgeon next thursday (9/10) and I am very excited! I have maine community health options for insurance so I'm hoping everything will go smoothly. I dont know what the requirements are yet, unfortunately, but hopefully I will find out then. I have been doing research on this for years, and finally am in a spot where i am eligible and able to do it. I refuse to wait longer than i absolutely have to. I want to change my life and eating habits NOW! I dont want to develop comorbitities. Heart problems run heavily in my family, too. I think it might be easier to do this while im young so I dont pick up more bad habits. Nice to talk to you, Joy!

    Looking for preop friends :)

Hi guys! Pre-op here too. I'm 20 years old, so I'm so happy to get this tool while I'm young so I can prevent comorbitities. I live in Maine, and I have my consultation appt in 6 days, so I am very excited to get the ball rolling. My BMI is over 50 at this point, and I have tried so many different weight loss options that (obviously) haven't worked for me. Im so nervous after reading everyones insurance horror stories that i will have the same experience. If anyone is from the New England area and has Community Health Options for insurance, please let me know your experience thusfar and I will do the same once I go through it!
