    Maybe I'm an alcoholic?

I know what you are going through I love my wine as well but I know down the road I will have it again. I might not be able to drink as much but that's ok. I am a foodie and I think most of us are but I just like to think that I am not giving up food but just exchanging for smaller portions and opting for healthier options.

    Any regrets?

Im Oct 13th for the sleeve and i have a half sister who had bypass at least 10-11yrs ago. She says no regrets the only thing she says is that your stomach is small but your mind still can't process the new small stomach. She did say that most people stick to vitamins and are compliant for about 3 years and if you don't get monitored or get regular bloodwork that is when complications happen not because of the procedure but because of neglect. So key thing is not falling into old habits.

    Liquid diet

I am having surgery on the 13th and my surgeon said no preop diet for me either. I meet for preop on Monday and see if she had any further instruction.

    Seeking Buddies 5'2" & Under

Hi I am 5'1 I started at my highest weight at 211 with diet and exercise and phentermine got down to a good 145 but seemed to gain real easy and kept yo yo-ing after a knee injury and went all the way up to 178....so determined not to gain anymore I knew I couldn't do it with just diet alone and maintain without the sleeve so will be getting it done Oct 13th. So I am hoping this will work.
  11. That's a great day to be sleeved...me too 10/13.

Depends my BMI is 33 and my surgeon. Dr. Rao will do surgery for BMIs 30 and above with hx of going up and down in weight.
  14. Mayasmamma nexplanon does make a lot of women gain weight maybe opt for a Mirena instead....
  15. Yes if it's liquid it counts.....even if it has protein in it.

    Women

My surgeon said no topical NSAIDs for my bad knee so will have to try menthol or other homeopathic options, or maybe some cold gel...but no NSAIDs for 10 days preop.
  17. I know what you are going through my primary care said not to do it, my exhusband and my personal trainer are also hesitant. I am not even going to tell my 82 yo mother, as she will drive me nuts about it. I am scheduled for 10/13 and at this point will only tell select people. The reason why is because I am a low bmi-er and have lost a good amount on my own but the yoyo and the emotional ups and downs have to settle. If I could do it with diet alone then I would have done it by now....I already gave away my big clothes away and I am not going to buy new larger clothes. I am paying out of pocket for this so I have no choice but to commit to this change.

    My love for Starbucks!

Well started doing half decaf at Starbucks to start weaning off caffeine....how long does it take to wean? I usually get massive headaches with no caffeine but I only have a cup a day or I do the lattes at Starbucks which I don't find to be that strong anyway...

Time off work? One week? More?

Taking 2 weeks off pretty demanding job but no heavy lifting so if I can manage to get my water in and eat slowly I think I will be ok. Then again I only took off 4 days when I had my gallbladder done last year.

    January 2013 sleevers

Gives me hope as I started at 210 got down to 150 then now hovering at 178 preop so my hope is that I can get to the 120-130s, as I am 5'1 and have had the hardest time getting past the 150s.
  21. 10/13 for me....and yes it is most definitely getting real.

    Having 2nd thoughts

I think it's normal to have doubts. I contemplated the sleeve about 2 1/2 yrs ago but decided to go the medical weight loss route and lost a significant amount of weight but have gained about half back and do not want to gain any more back....and can not...I can easily lose and gain 20lbs but then can't get passed a certain point without feeling like I am starving.....I can't exercise the way I used to and at this time I am looking at either a knee replacement or weight loss. I hope that the weight loss will make the pain bearable and I can hold off on that knee replacement. Everyone who knows about it thinks I can do it without the surgery so I too second guess my decision. However I know my love hate relationship with food and feel if I can do this now while I am young, and have young kids...I will then be able to have a more active lifestyle and keep up with my kids.

    Food funerals

I am definitely eating some foods that I will miss...however I am a little nervous because my doc doesn't want me to do a preop diet as she feels if I lose to much weight that the hospital won't let her do the surgery. But then I keep thinking I don't want her to have a hard time with my liver....I am terrified of complications.
