    Help w/ protien powders ??

I use a generic powder (Top Care from Food City grocery) whey protein chocolate and add sugar free chocolate syrup to mine. It helps. Sometimes I add a packet of Carnation instant breafast drink to mine as well. It adds up to about 50 grams of protein at one time and not some terrible. I look forward to it most days!
  2. My doc normally uses catheter on his patients but I requested if I could not have one. I have interstitial cystitis (painful urinary and bladder disorder) and he said that we could do it without it. I was so thankful! It would have caused me alot of pain. Good luck to you!

    Limboland...

I remember limboland very well. I had to do 6 mth weigh in before my insurance would cover the band. It had to show that my weight was consistent and they put me on a healthier diet to see if I could lose weight on my own. I could not of course and finally got my band in Nov. Best wait of my life. So very worth it. Take this time to study up on the band. The more info, the better for you. Good luck and happier days ahead!

    Help!!! I need help, please

Please don't be down. You are one of many success stories that we all read on these boards each day. Being stuck is not failure. Having the band and disregarding its use and helpfulness is failing. You are not one of those. I got stuck and went back on my preop diet for three days. It helped my ease back into my healthier choices of food and drink. Change up your exercise. Talk to your doc. Don't give in and don't give up. Good luck!

    Weight Gain

I gained up a couple of pounds as well. I felt so mad at myself. I went back on my preop diet (liquid and sugar free jello) for three days and lost 5 pounds. I am back on track by eating less sodium and more vegetables. I get another band fill on March 24 th. I think that will help me alot. Good luck to you and hang in there!
  7. Now that we have altered our digestive system, air inside our body has been altered as well. This is probably the point where most of us would rather have the opposite problem, but here it goes. I have much more gas (pooting) than ever before. I think I would rather burp. The pooting pollutes the air and everyone around us knows when we relieve ourselves. Sometimes I think I could burp easier. I can't believe I actually said what I've been thinking since my surgery Nov. 2007. Good luck everyone!:grouphug:

    Please Somebody Help Me!!!!!!!

You can do this liquid diet because think of where you will be after lap band. Your success starts today. Carnation instant drink breakfast, sugar free jello, clear broth, flavored waters. It gets easier after the first couple of days. Doctor needs you to do this so your liver will shrink for surgery. hang in there dear. Its so worth it.....
  9. Most of the holes are small. My doc stapled me with two staples in all but two incisions and those two took four staples. It really isn't too bad. I wouldn't dismiss surgery because those holes heal pretty fast. Good luck in whatever you need to do for you.
  10. Stand stills are part of the process. Same thing here...for four weeks now..same weight. I'm not giving in though! Walk a little further eat a little better and wait for another fill!
  11. Don't we all have one? I have this awesome tan button up shirt, cut in at the waist, very clean fitting and tailored. I would try this shirt on randomly through the last couple of years watching it slowiing slip away from being able to button it, much less being able to wear it. So..there it hang...in the very back of the closet.."maybe one day I will fit into it again", I would say. That day would be Sunday, this past weekend. Looking for church attire, Wanting something to fit my new in transition body, I searched for anything to wear, and there it was. "Oh why not try?", I thought to myself. Yep, it fit. another small thing will a huge impact. My old "new" shirt made me happy. I wish all of you old "new" shirts. Keep up the good work!

I had my surgery Nov 27 2007. I remember that feeling very well. It helped me to get up and about as much as possible. Walking helped alot too. You're past the roughest part I'd imagine...it gets SO much better from now on....good luck!

    Question about 1st fill 2morrow

I went last week to my first fill and ask my nurse about eating right before the fill. She said that you want something on your stomach before a fill as long as you don't overindulge. Happy fill!!

Lots Of Gas And Back Pain

I'm so sorry that you are having so much pain with this. Please talk to your doc and make him understand how bad you are hurting. Also, an endoscopic doc may lend some good advice for you as well. Good luck, friend...
  19. I was banded Nov 27, 2007. The doctor originally was going to put 1 cc in my band based on the idea that the nurses in the operating room put 2 cc's in it after doc closed me up. He said he would check how much the band had before adding more. He stuck me{which felt like I was getting a shot} and found out that the nurses didn't add any to my band. I received 3cc's yesterday and ate my sugar free pudding last night and a soft egg and grits this morning. I feel great, no complications. I have lost 7 pounds in 4 weeks...I am satisfied. Good luck everyone..make today one of your best days...

Lots Of Gas And Back Pain

I was told that after the band, people who have it either burp alot more or poot alot more. The band changes the natural flow of the body's digestive system. I'm a pooter and for my health's sake, I'll live with it.

    Saltine Crackers??????????

sugar free puddings, sugar free jellos, protein shakes, sugar free popsicles, clear broth. Believe me, there's a good reason for sticking to it. Try really hard and I know how you feel. You'll be able to eat soon enough.

    leaky port?

I know that my port site leaked some before finally healing all the way. The part of the incision that leaked was the last place to heal. I wouldn't freak out yet but I would put in a call to your doc. I had stapled incisions and they became red and angry about 4 weeks later because my skin was pulling, trying to heal. To be safe, call doc office. Good luck..

    A newbie from Michigan

My pro op diet was sugar free jello, clear chicken and beef broth, protein shakes, {not that bad depending on what you find} and sometimes sugar free pudding. After about the third day of the diet, my body didn't get as hungry as one might think. The first couple of days I was pretty hungry, but I just kept busy. Good Luck!
  24. I am a female, 41, 5' 3 " and weighed at my most 218. I lost 50 pds one summer years ago on Slim Fast but also gained it back. My insurance was for the surgery since I have other problems due to the weight. Sleep apnea was causing heart problems which in turn was caused from my weight. I was banded 11/27/07 and have lost 25 pds so far. Cravings are not near as bad as they used to be for me. I get hungry but it's not as bad. If your hubby will go with you, then yes. My hubby didn't leave my bedside at all. For three days, he was in the hospital with me. He also went to my preop visit and post op visit. Waiting lists really depend on your location and the doctor you find. I chose lap band because there isn't as much cutting or risks involved. Good luck to you dear!

    Excited to have surgery!

I wish you all the best life has to offer. Why do I say that? Because honestly for me, after the band is when my life started. My second chance. Good luck with yours...
