frogftsh got a reaction from Madeleine Renee in Post op diet Clueless
My surgery was also on the 24th. During my 6 month prep post op diet was discussed a lot. My surgeon has me on Clear Liquids until I see him on Tuesday. Then I should be able to advance to full liquids for two weeks, then purree food for two weeks before introducing soft foods. I would call the surgeons office and ask what protocol they use, or you can call your nutritionist. Good luck!

I'm still on my Clear Liquids post-op until I see the surgeon for my follow up on Tuesday. For dinner tonight I had vegetable broth and added some old bay. Being born in MD, old bay is good on a lot of stuff! It was so good, and satisfying, like having crab soup...well without the crab, or vegetables, or anything else. But it was definitely better than plain old broth!

frogftsh got a reaction from Kelsey Marie in Day 3 Post Op: Am I Normal?
My nutritionist said not to worry about Protein the first week unless I wanted it. She said many people can only handle the Clear Liquids and even though Isopure is considered a clear she said that the protein could cause fullness/nausea. They advised that I get as close to 60oz/day or more. I wasn't able to hit more than 40 for the first several days (I'm 6 days post). I think it wasn't until yesterday that I got to close to 70 and the same again today. Maybe try just clears with no protein for a day or two?

According to everything I learned during my prep carbonated beverages are a big no no for the rest of my life. The carbonation can cause excess gas as well as stretch the pouch. According to studies, in over 90% of RNY failures, the person starts drinking sodas again.
