Kranky, have your doctor check your THYROID. LOL I was tired all the time about a year before the surgery. I had a slow thyroid.

At first, just the broth. After about 2-3 weeks, I started eating a little bit of the noodles. I needed something to "chew". broth was not filling me up. Once I got on yogurt, it would satisfy my hunger a little. When I got onto Cream of Wheat last week, it was like a dream come true. The doctor and NUT told me that this week I can start eating Beans. Today I had a Black Bean burger patty. It was soooo delicious. I just ate the patty with a little ketchup on the side. I was half way through it and said to myself that I could eat the whole thing. Two more bites and it started hurting. So I ate a little more than half.
Do you know people that have had the surgery and have received advice from them? I knew 4 people that have had it so they told me what to expect.
I'm from the New Orleans area. Grew up in Metairie. Work in New Orleans. Now live in Slidell.

Well, mine was complicated and don't want to scare you. What happened to me only happens to about 2% of people.
The hardest for me post-op was all of the weeks I was on just liquids. I was sooooo sick of broth. I started cheating a little and would eat a little bit of noodles from the ramen noodles or cup o noodles. I found so many yummy flavors with those brands instead of plain old chicken broth or beef broth. I never had any problems keeping it down. I am finally on "mushy foods". I can't wait to have a salad!!! We live in La. where there is such wonderful food to sample so it is really hard for us. I'm such a foodie. I miss bread the most.

Glad to hear this. I hope it works for me. I have been stuck for about 9 days on 202-203.

@LynnAlex Wow, you have lost alot of weight since August. When was your surgery date? It says August but was it in the beginning of August?
-
@@Babbs I always look forward to your advice and input. From your profile, you had the surgery over a year ago so you have the knowledge from your own experience and have probably heard lots of input from others over the year. Thanks for sticking with us amateurs and keep the information coming :-)

@@Margie122 ohh, ok. I was like, man, did I pick the wrong doctor.
My week says I can have Beans. Do you know if this would include a 'black bean burger pattie'?
-
@margie122 I take my Multivitamins without food and haven't had any problems (so far). You have lost 67 lbs in 1 1/2 months????? OMG, I've only lost 29 lbs. Lucky you!!!!!

@@Inner Surfer Girl Nooo, I'm not literally starving myself. I'm just HUNGRY it feels like I'm starving. I get enough Protein and am trying to keep up with the amounts of Water required.
Yeah, I know I should stay away from the noodles but they are sooo dang good and it feels me up. The broth just isn't filling me up.

You are like one month ahead of me so you can eat alot more variety of foods than I can. My original surgery was on Wednesday,August 19, 2015. I was home the next day. That Monday, August 24, 2015, I was supposed to see the doctor for my 1st follow up appointment. The office was 30 minutes away and called them and said there was no way I could make it, not even with someone driving me. I was so week and had been throwing up the day/night before. They told me to come into the office near my house to see a different doctor (mine was out of town). I went in my p.j.'s. That's how bad I was. I NEVER leave the house without a bra and this time I did. LOL As soon as the doctor looked at me he said "emergency". I was transported to the hospital down the street and had an emergency surgery. The had to go in me again and make new holes. I had an "obstructed bowel" which only 2% of people get. I could have died. I went home 3 days later. No complications since. I was told to start my diet from the beginning, August 19, 2015. I just started on 'mushy' foods like Cream of Wheat and can even have a mozzarells stick!!! I'm sooooo sick of broth!!!!!!!!! I have taken a few bites of noodles here and there and have not had any problems. I can't wait to eat a salad with some shrimp or chicken in it. I don't eat fish and alot of my schedule says I should.
What is the worse thing you have eaten so far? I'm dying for bread. I love bread!! I miss pizza.
I'm going out tonight for my mom's 70th birthday dinner. While everyone will be eating steak and lobster, I can't even have a salad!! I'll have to order steamed vegetables and if the have a simple Soup. Boo

@@newbeginnings1965 Wow, really? I'm so scared to increase my calories. What is your limit on your carbs? Did you have your surgery in the beginning, middle or end of July? Can you eat everything now?
Where ya from?

I am 5 weeks out and the scale will go up and down 1 lb the past week. So this is a norm? Why? I can't get past 202-203. Does this happen in the months to come ahead?
@, I see that you are the same height as me and you had your surgery in May, 2015 (begiinning, middle or end of May) and have lost 63 lbs so far. Do you mind if I ask you what weight you started at? It seems like the heavier people are, the more they lose in less time. I'm just trying to see where I will be in in 4 months.
-
I am 4 1/2 weeks post-op and am teetering 28 lbs lost. I starve myself and gain a lb then lose a lb, then gain a lb, then lose. When does everyone get ata stabd still?
Also, I love the CupANoodles. Sometimes I cant just drink the broth. I sometimes eat half the noodles. Is that ok if I chew the soft noodles really good, do you think thats ok?
-
CowgirlJane, did you ask the doctor for a bigger sleeve?
-
I don't know if you have friends that have done this surgery. The 3 weeks after surgery SUCKS!!! Eating/drinking nothing but broth is terrible. I always wanted something to chew. Don't get dicouraged during this phase (at least try not to). Other people did not have a problem with this but I did. I miss regular food. I can't wait until a few weeks where I can have salad.
Is this normal...
