I have been on diets every since I was in my 20's. I have gained so much and lost so much at times. I have a SERIOUS turkey/chicken neck. In fact, my nickname is "chicken". I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is nothing you can do unless you have surgery. I look so much older. They say you can tell a person's age by the neck.

Has anyone had any trouble with shortness of breath? I feel that everytime I speak a few sentences, I have to catch my breath. I am 2 weeks post up. Also, I have noticed within the last 2 days that when I breath normally, all of a sudden I have to take in a big breath and then let it out (like I needed to expand my lungs or something).

I am starving ALL the time. Its not head hunger like people are saying. My stomach is grumbling!!! I cannot wait to eat real food. Hoping when I am on the "mushy" food it will be better.

Does everyone count their weight loss from before surgery or when you got out with the extra fluid weight?

you just gave me life! Wow, your photo gave me a boost of encouragment!!!!! Thanks, I needed that this a.m. Hi I was also sleeved by Doctor Michael Thomas in October if last year. So far I haven't had any complications and I'm almost 100 pounds down. If you don't mind me asking what type if complications did you have that required you to be reserved? I was in extreme pain since the surgery that I was hardly able to make it to my 1st follow up appt. I was so weak I thought I was gonna die. Thankfully, they force me to come in and I had a ride. I could not make it to the Covington office where I was supposed to go. I wouldn't have made the drive. Dr. French was there in the Slidell office, took one look at me and ordered a CATScan and admitted me for another surgery. I had something called 'locked bowels'. I read it only happens in 2%of patients. That was this past Monday. They reluctantly released me on Weds. I have staples in me now and will have them removed on Tuesday. I am hungry and cannot wait to switch to more dense foods. However, I have just found the BEST Soups ever but am afraid he will tell me to stop eating them because of the spices. Congrats on reaching your goal. I would love for you to be my mentor of support to get me through this. I am going through a depressing time right now that people warned me about but didn't think it would happen to me. Hi. Just wanted to say that if you're on Facebook there is a support group there. I am in Slidell, La. I was sleeved originally on 8-19-15 and had to be resleeved on 8-24-15 due to complications. My doctor is Dr. Michael Thomas. Dr. Matthew French performed my 2nd surgery since Dr. Thomas was out of town. I wish they would have an in person support group so we can meet, share experiences, recipes and CLOTHES (since we will not be in ant size for too long)!!!! I'm glad I found this forum and hope to make some friends out of this since we all share something in common.

I was sleeved on 8-19-15 and had to be readmitted for a 2nd surgery due to a complication (i figuted out only 2%get) on 8-24-15. I am wondering the same things. When preparing meals, I'm thinking I could have done this on my own with alot of willpower. I hope everyone is right and it won't take long to get over this slump. Tonight was difficult. My husband tried a new recioe and the whole family was sitting around describing the taste, texture, and how wonderful everything was. I couldn't even taste a tiny itty bitty bit. i will be going to the cayman islands i will be in a bathing suit and on the beach most days. our unit is equipped with a full kitchen. im sure we will be eating dinner out most nights.im hoping i will be fine a really do not want to put surgery off. I was gonna say, if it is an all inclusive resort that provieds delicious foods and drinks whenever you want, I would postpone surgery. OR, if you were going someplace famous for their foods, delay surgery. Since the place comes with a kitchen and you have to prepare your own meals, keep your surgery date. Be very careful of the sun. You will be more sensitive to the sun and will have to hydrate yourself twice as the dr will recommend. NO ALCOHOL!!!!!! Hope you have a fantastic time!!!!

Kranky, my dr. said the same thing as yours. If you don't mind, I would like to be a buddy with you. Looks like our time of surgery, height and weight are in close running. When was your surgery date? How much did you gain afterwards? How many days into it did you start to lose?

I had gastric sleeve surgery on 8-19-15. I was so sick and weak and in so much pain by the time of my first follow up visit. Someone drove me to the appt. Office ran a Cat Scan and them readmitted me to the hospital fir a second surgery. Has this happened to anyone? I am so discouraged.

Yes, I'm home. My 2nd surgery was cuz I had a 'bowel obstruction'. I read that it happens in only 2% of patients. A different dr. had to perform that surgery since mine was out if town. I see my regular dr on Tues., sept 1st. Yeah, I'm not going to chance foods I am craving until I talk to dr

I agree with Sajijoma. The probably noticed but didnt want to say anything out of embarassment. Maybe they would think you would be offended if they even suggestedto diet.

Thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and words. I am having hunger pains really bad. I just want to chew nibble on something. I bought some crazy flavors Maruchan ramon noodles. I am in love with the spicy lime shrimp and chipolte chicken. I couldnt help but eat a few noodles. Is that a really bad thing? When can I nibble on Cheerios or something?

I would just go to Sam's Club and get the Premieur shakes. They are cheap and yummy
