  1. Hi Everyone,

Time to post my before and after pics.... making me accountable to the "Surgery Day" group! Haa haaa... I had the gastric sleeve surgery completed on January 6, 2016. I am currently down 25 pounds and boy can I tell you that I can feel a difference in my energy level. I can also fit other tops that I haven't fit for months and months. I am enjoying this new journey and looking forward to more weight loss as each day goes by.

  2. I just has my surgery Monday Feb1st. I weighed in at 260 the week before and today 6 days after the surgery I am down to 247. I do find it hard to get the 2 Protein Shakes a day plus a full liquid meal and the 64 oz of Water with my new much smaller tummy! So this will be challenging!

@mbig. I had mine done on Jan 6. Im down 25 lbs. It was great losing that much in a month. It took me 4 to 5 months to lose 25 before and it never stayed off. It was hard to hit my target for Protein too. I finally hit 80 grams of protein 2 days ago. However, Im not sure how accurate that really is because I never finish my food. Just keep trucking on your liquids and your protein. It will be an everyday thing for the rest of your life. Look into Isopure drinks. They will give you protein and liquid oz. At the same time. One bottle is about $4.59 pricey but you get 40grams of Protein. I get them from The Vitamin Shoppe and you can order them online cheaper by the case at www.bodybuilding.com. Good Luck

  3. @Rose1up! sounds like you are doing great. it's a process. you learn what works and what doesn't. the sodium will definitely affect you so definitely try lowering that.

i got stuck for a few weeks but i'm a good range for me where i feel good about myself most all the time so im not that freaked out when i stall. but i've been stalled for about 2 weeks until today. some of that has been my fault, not eating enough and not getting my Water intake. i finally moved the scale this week but like i said i reached goal one so i'm not too freaked out about it going slow. that's ok. will help with loose skin if that should happen.

be patient. keep doing what you're doing!

@@pr_pitbullgrl - thanks for your encouragement and words. I actually sent Michelle an email about my stall and she said its normal. She said what I needed to hear also. Ive bee. Getting headaches. I think its from my lack of H20 the last 2 days. Im downloading a Water alert to help me. Also, I tried a bunch of old tops I have and fit them all. Its nice to see my progression. My body is just trying to catch up from what Ive lost. I also decided to stop weighing everyday. Lol. Hows it going with you??? Missed ya!

  4. Im down 23 lbs since my surgery date of Jan 6. I noticed the last 2 days that I gain a lb or lose a pound. But the scale is not moving in my favor of losing a pound a day. I am back to regular food. I actually think maybe Im not losing because of my salt intake. Salt affects me pretty good. Im seeing if thats what causes my stall. Ive heard this type of thing happens to people... where a stall occurs. Im following my nutritions guidelines and taking my Vitamins. My fluids is usually 67 to 70 oz a day. Im getting about 60 grams of Protein in. I strive everyday to get more protein in. I also walk 15mins everyday and will be starting a regular workout. Any advice peeps???

  5. My date is 27th! I am not required to do a pre-op diet but decided to do it anyway to be extra prepared. I only lasted a few days on it which is worrying. I guess it's hard to stick to something when you know you don't really have to do it! But still doesn't bode well for the future, hope I can stick to the plan!

The worst part for me was 2 weeks of the liquid and full liquid diet after the surgery but I stuck it out. You have no other choice but to stick it out because if you stray from the rules you could hurt your new stomach. You do want to heal properly.

  6. Hi there I had my surgery January 5th day I surgery I was 294 and I'm at 10 day post op . I'm at 269 . 25 pounds down . I was wondering if anyone was eating anything yet ? I'm still shakes and pudding Water etc.... I want to try redraws Beans but maybe to soon yet or actually something different . I know I can't eat muck cause just the pudding is hard to get down . Any help??

@Scottyg. I had my surgery on Jan 6th with my 2 week appt being on Jan. 19th. As of Jan. 20th I was cleared by my surgeon to eat regular food. I have been eating slowly. I tried raw mushrooms and raw carrots and cooked spinach, mashed potatoes, creamy Soup, ground turkey, tofu, cottage cheese, and a veggie burger. All has stayed down nicely. I feel very full at about 2-3 oz. I dont drink anything while I eat as directed by my Nutritionist. I wait that half hour. Im taking my chewable bariatric Vitamins too. I drink Isopure drinks for Protein. Im always chosing protein first. Thats what we are supposed to do. I do believe doctors are all different because I was surprised I didnt have to go to pureed food then soft food then regular food. Im down 20lbs today. Goodluck to you and congrats to your surgery :)

  7. Are the shots in the stomach very painful?

Marley... no... to me.. I barely felt it. The needle is like a TB shot needle. Very small. They squeeze your belly and then give you the shot. It barely was felt. I only had one bruise and that was only the size of a small Halo Orange. I got a total of 4 Heparin shots. Thats what they are.

@PRPitbull - its going to be a challenge but I got it. :) Isopure Water has 40grams of Protein. I just got 2 from GNC. Vitamin world sells it. Ill start that tomorrow so I can get more Protein.

  8. I was cleared after my 2 weeks which is tomorrow to eat regular food. Im down 17 lbs in 2 weeks. I was informed to start slowly with regular food and know my new stomach. I can eat soft meats but they need to be the size of a pill. Chew, chew, chew. Drink lots of Water and keep fluids up. Do not weigh everyday... but weigh every Sunday. Weight will come off. Im cleared to exercise and sleep on my stomach... lol. That will be nice cause Ive been on my back and sides. So exited and things are looking good... going to shed my skin to the woman within!! :)

  9. Thank you mama. I think I'm going for 9/10 but we'll see. I'm happy with the progress. I'm still working out five days a week but my food intake needs work. I have zero appetite. Also my Water intake sucks lol. Work in progress tho

    How you feeling?

9/10 sounds healthy to me :) Im better each day. Finished 33.8 oz of Water yesterday. Total of 76oz of fluids and 78 of Protein. Downside is i didnt drop a pound. I discovered its the beef broth. The sodium is causing me to retain water weight. My surgery buddy is prob about 15 lbs down today with me only down 11 and the liquid diet is so boring. We both had surgery on the 6th of this month. Im going to give up the broth and have decaffeinated instead today so I can see a difference tomorrow.

  10. welllll the time has come. i am now starting to actually look droopy and ridiculous in my clothes. i think i might be a 14 now. not sure. i know i can't wear my 18's anymore. so i guess it's time to shop this weekend. it's hard to know how much to buy since i don't know what size i'll end up but i guess it's a good problem to have.

Yes... good prob indeed! 14 was a nice size for me. I felt so beautiful at that size. I bet you look amazing.... clothes shopping... get stretch jeans and tops that stretch. That way you wont have to buy too much clothes and can wear it for awhile.

  11. I have a date of 1/5/16. Like many others, I'm wondering if anyone else is close to having surgery on this date so we can compare notes and try to help boost our spirits if we're struggling. I'd love to hear from anyone!

Yes... I had mine done on 1/6/16. Im down 11 lbs already. The liquid diet is horrible and I cant wait to have real food but I look towards the long term benefit. Hope you are doing very well

  12. I am getting my sleeve on February 22nd. I'm terrified to leave my 2 year old for 2 days. I'm afraid if all the extra skin I will have. But most of all I am scared that somehow I will fail. That somehow I won't lose enough weight to make any difference in my quality of life. I guess I am just so used to being this way and so used to diets eventually failing that even with this surgery I feel like I will still be fat. I want to ride a bike with my son. I want to hike and ride roller coasters with my husband. I want to walk and not be out of breath. I haven't seen many stories of people failing. But I need some reassurance. Can I have some people give me their success stories? Tell me about how you got the weight off, are keeping it off, and can finally do the things you wanted to but couldn't.

Dont be worried. Look at all the benefits during and after your weightloss that you will have with your 2 yr old. Huge benefits.... you will be glad you went through the process.

  13. I got sleeved on 12/30. I know I'm only about 2weeks in but I had and still have your same fears. I also had to leave a 2 year old while I was in the hospital. Even now it breaks my heart when she asks me to pick her up and I can't. But I know someday soon I can. I have lost over 20lbs. so far. I don't really feel any different but my husband say my belly is going down. Each day is one step closer to being my normal self again. Sure the clear liquid diet is rough and the diarrhea sucks but seeing that scale drop a little each day makes it easier. Good luck on your journey.

@Robynbyrd.... Im a week out tomorrow and down 11 lbs now. The clear and full diet is horrible . Good luck to you on your journey as well.

  14. @Rose1up! ha Dana! I keep forgetting you're here! we need to meet up. How tall are you? i'm only 5'3 so when i say i like me at 180 people are like what???? but it's really true. my stomach was almost 100% flat and everything! lol.

i haven't seen 130 since i was like 12 which i guess is 6th grade so i hear ya on that too LOL.

ah heck. sorry bought the damn wound. that blows but you'll be ok. you're doing all the right things :)

I am here! :) Well, Ive always been 5'6 but my primary measured me and said Im 5'5 then Soong's office measured me and said Im 5'4. So... I have no clue but I believe the 5'5 because women shrink and Im 41 yrs old so Im sure I shrunk an inch. Your body will most likely figure out where it wants to be. YOU will KNOW!!! Omg... do I miss the "flat tummy" days. I have a tattoo on my belly and now... well its not the same now especially since I had a child. Lol. Lets meet up after I get to the "back to eating regular foods".
