  1. Hey E So excited for you!!! Awesome your weight loss already - you're going to rock this! You have packed over and above what you can possibly need so all covered I reckon. Wish I'd thought of the ear plugs and eye patch - the nurses came in every hour or two the first night. Get off the push button for pain as soon as you can - it made me feel drowsy and sick and honestly oral painkillers were enough from day 2. Good luck!!!!!!

    24hours before showtime

I would agree to not let doubts and fears or the first 2 days discourage. You will recover well, you will lose the weight. You will feel fabulous x
  3. No I haven't got either sorry. Just charting it all here
  4. Hey Victoria! Great to have another Aussie in here! All the pounds talk does my non mathematical head in! I'm 2.5 weeks post op, lost 11kgs since starting prep diet. Energy levels fantastic, all healed. Tolerating purée with a few soft cheats thrown in. Back at work. I had so many doubts and fears pre- op. Now I'm so confident I've done the best thing for my future self!! Good luck and feel free to ask, check in or unleash here. You're with friends.
  5. Hi Reetz. I was super nervous too but all has gone so easily honestly. If you've given birth 3 times, you will cope. The biggest realization for me has been how little you need to eat and how little you can eat at first. But I don't feel really hungry and have plenty of energy x
  6. Has anyone tried alcohol post op or been given any instructions?
  7. Hi Reetz. Fluids for first 3 days - drinking yogurt, shakes, broth. Then purée casseroles, runny porridge, protein shakes with a bit of fruit. Up and Go Energize is great too
  8. 2 weeks post op yesterday!! Had my follow up appointment with Dr & dietician - I am a 'model' patient! Eating 1-2 purée meals per day plus shake and yogurt for snacks. Wounds all healing. Not much weight lost in last few days. Not sure why. But ok with it as I don't want to lose too fast. Back to work Monday. Good energy levels. Looking forward to soft food at the end of this week and doing some lunchtime walking. How are you all doing??
  9. Dragonfly - great to hear your journey. I am 12 days post op, wounds nearly healed. All gas/ bloating gone. Lots of energy at the start of the day but tiring towards the end. You'll get there!!
  10. Hi tinatina. Your Drs in the USA (I'm assuming that's where you are from) seem to take things very slow. In Australia, I was on a purée diet from 3 days post op and can have yogurts, custards, purée casseroles. I'm only having about 10 teaspoons to a meal but I can't imagine still being on only shakes. One tip if you want to stick only to them - try blending them with ice. I found a cold frothy shake a nice alternative. If you want to bend a little, my current breakfast shake at 12 days post op is the protein shake powder with a banana and some berries, some yogurt and milk. And ice. Yummy! Makes enough for breakfast and morning tea! Have you tried a protein soup?? Good luck! Great advice Becca!!
  11. Welcome Therese & whisper! 44kg in 9 months Therese!! You are doing amazing! I want to lose 40 but thought it would take 18 months. What do you eat now and are you excercising?? And Lizcan!! 50% in 3 months!! Please share what you're doing too re diet and exercise
  12. Hi all again. I'm from south Sydney - near Hurstville. Day 12 post op today and I had the thought I'm nearly ready for work - going back on In 2 more days. Mind you, yesterday I was out and about all day and came home for a nap. 7.5kg down, managing puréed food pretty well and easily getting in 1.5 L fluid. Love being able to manage most of a cup of tea!! But the best news of all is that my Dr stopped my blood pressure tablets yesterday!! Yay!!!

    2 Days post-op and hopeful

Great to hear you're doing well Bee Girl. I think we all need to get used to enjoying different things now and variety helps a lot. My post op diet is now puree food (from 4 days - 3 weeks post - op) and I'm varying a lot with yogurts, custard, very soft cheese, protein smoothies, puréed casseroles. Variety makes me feel very satisfied. Only if it's a few teaspoons at a time
  14. Hey T. I had my sleeve on the 28th in Australia so pretty close. I have my follow up appointment with the Dr tomorrow and I'm feeling great. Tummy wounds nearly all healed. Yesterday I was out and about most of the day. Had my GP check up, had my nails and eyebrows done, did a bit of shopping. Came home and napped for an hour! Had my first uninterrupted sleep last night. The anaesthetic plays havoc with sleeping patterns I've found. I've been on puree diet since 4 days post op and mostly it's been really good - only about 10 teaspoons of puree casserole for lunch and dinner. Having a shake with fruit and yogurt blended in for breakfast, or porridge. Tried scrambled eggs yesterday - 4 teaspoons and pain - so not yet I think! Great to have a place to compare notes! Yesterday I had lost 7.5kg which is about 16 pounds. That's since I started pre op diet 2 weeks before surgery.
  15. I feel great on day 7 - with 7 kilos gone!!! No vomiting ever, coping with 2 puree meals and a Protein shake daily. Happy to stay in touch as your date approaches!!
  16. My husband had a gastric bypass 9 months ago and our food bills really went down. We eat out less, and it costs less to eat out. We eat way more casseroles which are cheaper. I am 7 days post sleeve now and I think we will be able to always share a 'normal' size meal from now on. I know my personal pocket money will be going on new clothes instead of chocolate and chips and I feel great about that!! On the flip side we have 2 insatiable beasts aka teenage sons so they eat plenty!

    HONDO!

That's 45 kgs!! Well done!! Great work. You must feel fantastic! I am 7 days post op and 7 kilos lost - feeling good too!!
  18. 6 days on -eating about 10 teaspoons of puree twice a day plus porridge for breakfast and yogurts for snacks - as well as 1.5L water - mainly with a bit of cordial. All going well. Minimal pain. Plenty of energy.
  19. Hi Bee girl. For clear fluids I had a lovely clear chicken broth that was yum and lots of protein as well as sugar free Gatorade. You should also be allowed jelly but I didn't want to risk the solidness of it. Free fluids much easier - you can have protein shakes, smoothies with protein powder and drinking yogurt. I also managed a yogurt ice cream very slowly. When I started puree, runny porridge was yum, then I basically chucked whatever meat and veggie casserole the family was having into the blender. Just a few teaspoons was enough in the early days. The best news is you don't feel hungry and do feel full very quickly. Good luck !!
  20. I tried some puree beef casserole today. Yummy!
  21. Hi all, I'm day 3 today post op. Doing great. Want to continue the same way and not upset things. What puree did you start on that went down easiest?

    Where is everyone from?

    Sydney, Australia ????
  23. Hi Shotochick, glad you had a good time away. I'm 4 days post op and had some porridge today! Tasted good and went down well. Really have to master taking tablets separately from breakfast as I went on to take tablets after porridge and felt more full than I have ever done yet! Still a bit wiped from an anaesthetic so resting a lot but hardly any pain now. Good luck with the pre op diet! Eyes on the prize. I am 5 kilos down!
  24. What about protein rich food? Puree casserole?
  25. Good luck to you all. I'm 3 days post op and feel great. Home and resting and drinking fluids. No vomiting. Feel fantastically not hungry at all and ready for my new life to start. So put your nerves and doubts to bed. You're taking good care of your future x
