  1. HI, I am exactly 4 weeks postop, Im in the soft semisolid food, not much variety, but ok for now. I feel Im more nauseous than before with some days with constant severe nausea since I started semisolids. I can tolerate yoghurts mostly, dont get enough Proteins in as my stomach doesnt tolerate the Protein shakes too well, I find it hard to get all my Vitamins as well as Im food averse!, also I find Im constantly training myself to eat slower, and \i do get some stomach discomfort. There are days when I revert back to thick liquids, as the semisolids make me nauseous. Im very sick of carrots, but Im still not allowed meat, bread, Pasta or fish, which leaves me with Soups , mashed vegies, cerelac, millk and yoghurt. Also I tried egg white today and I was very nauseous. I ve got so much nausea these days that Im inclined to do a pregnancy tests, fingers cross it will be negative! i wasnt that nauseous right after the surgery its is only since the semisolids. I have to say Im getting depressed with this nausea, it is very debilitating.

I forgot to mention I lost 12.5 kg in 4 weeks, Im happy with it.

  2. Hi, I would like to ask how much other people are eating 3 weeks after surgery? I am still on thick liquids for another 4 days as per my surgeon's instructions, but I feel I eat too much sometimes. There are days when I drink Water and have some low fat milk in the morning, ( 1 cup) but at night I can easily fit 2 full cups (2x 250ml) of home made thick Soup (blended vegies and chicken stock home made) over 30-40ml. Is this normal ?

I lost 10 kg since the day of the surgery (21 days) but now it has stopped. I dont count any calories or even amounts. Should I start counting the amount of thick Soups? or even calories?

For example, I have a cup of low fat milk with nesquick in the morning, then 1-2 hrs later, 1 cup liquid yoghurt, low fat, then some Soup, then some low fat youghurt and then the Soups again, every 2-3 hrs. until the night, and so on. I dont tolerate too much Protein powder apart from the Atkins high Protein drinks.

I am worried that my weight loss stopped because I drink too much soup, but the soups are made of vegies only ( carrots, onions, leeks, cauliflower, marrows,) apart from the chicken stock which is made with chicken legs with the skin on for some fat! \we need some fat for the absorption of Vitamins.

What do other people do 3 weeks post surgery?

    Thank you

i meant over 30-40 minutes eating the 2 cups of soup

  3. This is to let everyone know that my nausea did go away eventually, Im still out of sorts first thing in the morning, but no big deal now!

Also as the energy levels pick up, the depression goes away.

    I would like to know

    1. if people are actually measuring every single amount of Soup in the full liquids stage,

    2. if people eat by the clock? I mean sipping something every hr?

I dont measure, I just eat and stop when Im full this can take sometimes a full cup (250ml) of Soup eaten (one full soup plate) over 20 min or so. Is this normal? With some liquids, I feel I can take more in, have I stretched my pouch already? Is this fear going away once I start solids?

  4. Hi, I am also on the liquid diet at present, 7 days of clear and 17 days of full liquids. Im in the last 7 days. I found that home made leek Soup is really good, I added a bit of olive oil, sauteed the onion and the leeks then put them in the blender with extra stock, lovely! also home made mushroom Soup. I do add a bit of salt and even pepper. I do strain everything at the end to remove any strings and chunks.

For a different stock, I also bought one fish head and boiled it with carrots, onion, tomatoes and marrows, then drained it and again put everything(minus the fish head) in the blender, season it and it tastes really good and fishy! I mix the stock with the pureed vegies until I get the full liquid consistency.

I am also allowed to eat yoghurt so I buy all sorts of fat free flavoured ones.

lentil soup is a favourite of mine, again I boil all the vegies and the red lentil together, sieve it, then eat it!

    I hope this helps.

  5. Hi, I had my surgery done on the 19th August ie 11 days ago, and I am in the stage of full liquids. I didnt have complications and I think Im healing well. I had my surgery done in Jordan and I dont have any support here in Qatar.

My problem is nausea after everything I eat, I am relieved in a way that I dont feel hungry but I didnt expect to develop food aversion which depresses me. I just dont want to look at food anylonger, I dont want to taste it, to chew it or drink it, but I have to eat to combat this weakness I have and to keep up my energy levels. Its sad to think I cant even enjoy whatever limited choices of food I have now. Is this going to be my life from now on? I lost 8.2 kg since the surgery. The only Protein powder I found here in Qatar is Womens Pro whey Advantage by Saturn supplements, which has 32 grams per one scoop, its vanilla flavour and it tastes nice, made in USA, however it made me very nauseous, I mixed it in low fat milk. My questions are: 1. is it normal to feel weak and with no energy? 2. what about nausea- do a lot of people experience nausea 3. is anyone familiar with this Protein brand in the States? 4. is the weight loss too excessive? 5. Im buying also canned soups-is this ok? Thank you for your support, Carmen Ali ps -any recipes for full liquids? I was very positive about this surgery and I still am, I believe I needed it but the nausea and full on food aversion are really depressing me, I feel emotionally drained by these 2 unexpected sideeffects.
