Sept date I am all set

I agree, I'm gonna be straightening the house today, going to Costco to get my protein, and to the grocery store to get my broths, jello, etc. I think it's a normal thing to want things in order before embarking on something this big. Imagine coming home from surgery to a messy home, I imagine that would escalate one's level of stress lol. I've watched a lot of videos and the people that seemed to be most successful with the surgery were those that were organized.

You know you lost weight when

When you every time you walk by, someone says "looking good girl, keep it up" or "wow, you're really doing this huh" lol
  4. Here's some of the dumb questions you get pre-op... - now, you do know that this is not a magic procedure, it's just a tool, and it will require a lifestyle change (duh, cutting 80% of my stomach is a major freaking change ????) - what made you choose the sleeve? Someone I know that had it gained all their weight back. You should do the bypass (as if it's impossible to gain weight back with the bypass ????) - I would only do this if it were my last resort (being fat your whole life and wanting to experience a normal life with no health issues before it's almost over, in my opinion, is the last resort) People are so judgmental of things that are unfamiliar to them. When I talk to people who are well informed about the surgery, they usually congratulate me for the decision and tell me I will have no regrets as long as I follow my doctors orders/diet.
  5. Lol I love this post, and I can honestly say I've asked some of these dumb questions myself before I made the decision to do it. I think it's somewhat normal, but doesn't change the fact that it's a pain in the ass to respond to these questions. I still haven't told many people that I'm doing this, so I'm a little nervous just thinking about how I will handle all these questions.

Sept date I am all set

Hey September Sleevers, Quick update...I had my pre-op physical exam with my PCP, and it went quit well. My starting weight in April was 343, and yesterday I weighed 311, so she was totally pleased with my weight loss so far. She cleared me for surgery, but gave me one hell of a pep talk, reiterating that this is just a tool and how it will require a lifestyle change, etc. I was supposed to start my liquid diet this week but my grandpa passed away on Sunday, and I've been so busy making arrangements for his service that I didn't get a chance to go get my broth, Proteins, etc. so I'm planning to start this coming Monday. I was told the doctor prefers it so they have more room to see during surgery (liver reduces in size). However, i was told I just needed to make sure I'm on Clear liquids only 48 hours before surgery and no liquids period after midnight the day prior to surgery. They also gave me a surgical solution they want me to bathe with before coming in for surgery. I'm having my procedure done by Dr. Scott Cunneen at Cedar Sinai Medical Center/ Center for weight loss. My surgeon is the director of the minimally invasive surgery department as well, so that put me at ease. They are huge on safety at Cedars, and they constantly remind me that my surgery will be cancelled if I don't follow their instructions regarding nothing but clear liquids 48 hours prior, and no smoking 8 weeks prior. At this point, I'm ready to start my new life. I'm going to reinstate my 24 hr fitness membership that's been on freeze this whole year, and I have a 24 right in the parking lot of my job, so there's no excuses. This time, I will be successful, and I'm looking forward to doing it will all of you.

Sept date I am all set

Mine is Sept 4th, I purposely scheduled it that way so I have an extra day off work due to the Labor Day holiday. I'm curious, how much time are you guys planning to take off work? I was planning to take off Sept 4-18. I'm a social worker and I'm out in the field a lot, but my doctor said I can return after two weeks on light desk duty.
