Congratulations! I have lost approximately 38 but have seem to have come to a halt. I'm trying to do the same thing. I'm able to eat anything now, unfortunately, but do have some issues with reflux and can definitely only a small portion. I love the sleeve.

I'm down 25 since September 2nd. It's amazing! I actually have some trouble eating anything other than soft foods. It feels like it gets stuck after a few bites in my chest. I love cottage cheese and Dannon fit 'n light Greek Yogurt. The vanilla coconut is delicious, only 80 calories and high Protein. I've tried salmon and shrimp. Maybe I'm eating too fast odd. Love my sleeve! I started to work out this past week. I can't wait to get to onederland!

Sorry it has been awhile since I have popped in here. The Facebook group keeps me busy.
I am officially 15 days post op. On purees (2 more weeks to go) and overall doing great. Tummy is still a little bit tender but I figure that is par for the course. I am down 12lbs since surgery. I am doing a pretty decent job of hitting my Water and Protein intake, Eating all my Vitamins and itching to get back into the gym (Dr. said one more week and to ease into it).
    Hope everyone is doing great!!

I'm in the same boat, lower BMI, self pay. Don't feel guilty, this is for you! You know the low stats of keeping weight off once it has been lost. It's depressing. It what makes us all want to do it. I'm sure there's others here, besides me, that are all tired of losing the same weight over and over.

Good luck everyone! The pre-op diet is HARD. It definitely gets easier post op. I was having some major hunger pains, POST OP on my 5 and 6 nights post op. I read on another website that a surgeon (? wrote a book, maybe a Hispanic name) discussed this as being inflammation in your stomach that feels like physical hunger. I'm not talking mental hunger here. He recommended Gavisccon (sp?) and it has helped. I was scared my sleeve wasn't working. It's amazing how the pounds just melt off the first couple of weeks. Although you're not eating much. I feel so much better already.

I'm starting to get hungry with my 2 week post op liquid diet! Ugh! I'm drinking about 2 oz of Protein Shake every 2 hours. and Water in between. Soft food in a week.

I think everyone is freaked out before surgery! I'm 1 week out and am doing well. 13 pounds down including pre and post op. I don't really feel that hungry either. I was hungry last night though and had a sugar free Jello. The popsicles have been good too. I've had some diarrhea (sorry TMI) which I'm not sure if it's dumping syndrome already even without food. I will ask my surgeon next week. I usually have just the opposite after pain meds/anesthesia. I also had trouble with ice cold Water. It seems to hurt a little. Unsure if that could cause dumping or not. Weird. No more YETI cup for now. The nutrition warned me about that or anything hot for the first two weeks.
I've had really good luck so far. No nausea, off pain meds pretty quickly, etc. I did walk in the hospital as much as possible, even 2 hours after surgery. The nurses were surprised but I was scared of that gas pain! Maybe that helped. I don't know.

I was prepared to give it all up (pizza, nachos, alcohol, etc) when I let them cut out 90% of my stomach, but I was pleased when it turned out I didn't have to! When I decided to indulge, I counted it in my daily totals, making sure not to sacrifice my end nutrition goal for alcohol (I was still logging everything for about the first year, until I reached and maintained goal for a few months). Bloody Mary's are not bad, but are filling! sugar free Margaritas are a good alternative. Vodka and light cranberry juice is nice. I do occasionally do beer, typically Guinness which is very lightly carbonated. I can't finish one before it gets hot as the even the light bubbles fill me up. I have also been known to enjoy a Captain and Diet Coke after I shake most of the carbonation out of the Diet Coke.
These days, (I'll be 2 years in October), I tend not to log unless my weight creeps outside my maintenance zone, (which is rare), but if it does, alcohol and other treats are the first ting to go and I do log until I'm back where I belong.

I totally disagree. I often look at someone's previous posts if I feel their words are interesting/out of left field/questionable/humorous/ very wise/etc -- ESPECIALLY if they are very new or have very few posts. Doing so gives me context on their mind set and experiences so I can more understand their point if view.
I personally think the words "bully", "manipulate", "shame" are being very much overused lately and do not apply here. In fact, I find their very use (along with the words dangerous and pathological) a bit manipulative/bullying in and of themselves.

Roxie, I apologize for my curt response earlier on.
I've since read your dozen or so prior posts and now appreciate that you've not had the most supportive pre-op situation, that you're only a week post-op, and that you've had some (understandable) high anxiety about your own WLS.
But if you start out here by telling people that your way / your values is the only way to proceed WLS you will not find wide support here either. A lot of people here do drink alcohol post-op. But most of them do so rarely and not early on. As you'll also learn, surgeons' instructions are considerably divergent, one from the other, about so many things.
BTW, if you found this very mild alcohol thread tough going, go read the ones on marijuana.
People here have a wide range of values and lifestyle preferences. Your way will be your way. Theirs will be theirs.
Please consider this just some kind advice about how to find a home here. And I wish you the VERY best results possible from your own WLS.

I don't think anyone here that is seriously wanting to lose weight has the mindset that "just one is okay", whether that is about food, alcohol, drugs, or whatever vice one may have. With that being said, the vast majority of those having bariatric surgery had to jump through several hoops for insurance to approve them. One of those hoops were a psychological evaluation. I won't get into the medical criteria for alcohol addiction, but I think @@Roxie Malone can tell the difference between having a social drink vs drinking alcohol everyday because one cannot stop.
Lastly, no one will be 100% perfect with their diet. It's not possible. Can you honestly say that you will never eat a piece of pizza ever again? I know I can't and I won't. The key is moderation.

Hey! If you get dry mouth, I really recommend getting and packing some "Biotene spray". It was really helpful to me in the hospital and afterwards. Sips of Water feel really terrible unless you're sitting up, but the Biotene gets rid of dry mouth in the mean time. I combined that with regular application of lip balm every hour or so. Those were the two most important things I brought from home!
