Considering a re-sleeve in the new year
HealthyRN replied to Shells_Almost_There's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
I have just recently been sleeved but reading your post I saw myself, going to food for all of life's events, stress, loneliness, happy events ect. Every one says the sleeve is a tool, which I know is true so I decided I have to get my mind right and be fully committed to my journey. I attended my first overeaters anonymous this past week and have committed to attend at least 6 meetings before deciding if it will assist me in my journey. We understand your struggle but I do not mean to sound rude or harsh in anyway, but sounds like you need to get the food thing under control before making the decision for a second sleeve. Sent with kindness -
Great job! You look great

5 weeks post op and bad food choices
HealthyRN posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so I need to get this off my chest. I should be on the puréed part of my diet but have not puréed anything I eat soft foods and chew, chew, chew. Last night I made a fatting dish, chicken, cheese and broccoli casserole. I ate so much I threw up for the first time last night, today I ate some again but not to make me sick. I also ate 3 bite size butter fingers and paid for that also. I feel guilty and like I failed, back to an old habit of seeing a number on the scale I liked and then eating like crap. Self destruction I guess. I just need to be honest with someone. Please don't blast me I feel guilty already I am looking for others who may have done the same and advice for the next time I want to over eat,(besides don't) Thank you -

12lbs in first 3 weeks?!? What am I doing wrong?!?
HealthyRN replied to itstimealready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 weeks out and only down 18lbs. I did have an emergency appendectomy at 4 weeks. I started at a BMI of 35. Be patient, I have decided not to weigh myself daily because I get so discouraged. There is no way we are causing a slow weight loss our bodies are just taking their time. This will help with loose skin???? -
Would anyone be interested in "friend requests" on my fitness pal? Just would be nice for encouragement 526melissag is my id

As a nurse things like this piss me off when I don't know what's wrong or how to treat the symptoms. This all started with my right hip now only in left. I might call the doc Monday also

I am 3 weeks out and have awful hip pain and have been woken up by it also, I can't figure it out and I am getting ready to go back to work in a week and I can only stand or walk for about 3 hours, I work 12 hour shifts as a nurse and I am not sure what I am going to do.

Looking for a sleeve buddy

I was a self pay on 10/13 at almost 14k, if I had to wait 6 months I would have because there would have been more long term skills and nutrition classes provided. My first appointment was on 9/10 and surgery one month later. I am doing good 17 days post op and my cash is now gone. 6 months is really not that long however it might be too long for you. Sit down with a paper and make your list pros and cons Good luck

Sounds like you are complaining more of lap gas ( laparoscopic gas) not intestinal gas, walking helps take your pain mads as soon as you can. This was the only pain I had and it lasted three days for me getting better each day. I know it hurts but take deep breaths so you are expanding your lung and don't end up with diminished lungs which puts people at risk for pneumonia. It will pass be patient

Getting protein
HealthyRN replied to Ilovecats1985's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Order a sample pack from the company called Unjury. The protein is thin like milk and doesn't seem to sit heavy on my stomach like other stuff does. They also have a chicken broth that is awesome. It might be worth the try. -
No desire to eat
HealthyRN replied to Heather Feather's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 17 days postop and have no desire to eat and I force myself to drink my water. It is getting easier to eat/drink my protein drinks and chicken broth by the company unjury are awesome and have 21grams of protein I think per scoop. I am a nurse and know fluids are important so I don't end up in the hospital with acute kidney failure or altered mental status for electrolytes being off. Sip, sip, sip. Take care of your self -
How much activity were you doing at day 3, 4 and 5?
HealthyRN replied to itstimealready's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 13th, the 14th I was very sore, but was still up walking and have cooked dinner for my family every night because I am very board. I really want to go back to work but am a bedside nurse and really know it wouldn't be safe if I have to be lifting people. As long as you are minding your doctors lifting limits, getting your water in and testing when you feel you need to you are probably doing great. -
Is Chicken Rice Soup considered mushy?
HealthyRN replied to Runner1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would also say no, no rice no pasta no bread. Beans Cottage cheese Mashed potatoes Yams Things that mash easily with a fork. -
I am 12 days post op and know i will drink protein shakes daily which I don't mind. (Kinda gagging on them right now, plain and thick) I am in search of how you make your drink and what you are adding to your shake. Please include what brand of protein you are using. Thanks guys

My fitness pal portion sizes ...
HealthyRN replied to shellyd67's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Change your stuff to ounces that is what I have done. I am a nurse so conversions where mindless but write a few down from tbs to ounces or ml. I have not had an issue finding anything this way. -
Close to none, I am post op day 11 and finally am getting my protein in however at the expensive of my water

Is it radiating anywhere? -
Before becoming a nurse I worked in manufacturing and was on the floor as a supervisor and loved it! I went to my postop appointment yesterday and told them I would like my return to work date to be Nov 10th. So that will end up being almost 4 weeks out. The thought of new clothes excites me, but I wear scrubs and think I will wait they were pretty tight going into surgery.
