    What's your workout routine?

Apologies if I didn't find this in my search, but I'd like to know how far out from surgery you are and what your workout routine is. I'm just over a month from my sleeve, but a gallbladder removal set me back another month before I can start working out. Personally, I'll be working out at home using my heavy bag, treadmill, weights, bicycle and a yoga mat. I'll miss swimming but a gym membership is too expensive so we got the treadmill instead. Even if you go to the gym- what do you do? How many days, which exercises, etc.? Thanks- I hope this helps others too.

    What's your workout routine?

Wow, you are all amazing! I'm only a month out, and two weeks out from gallbladder surgery, but I just can't even imagine exercising right now. I do walk about a mile a day right now to work and out lunch, but I'm really looking forward to implementing some of your routines when I'm allowed.

    Tofu noodles?

Thanks! And lol at the protein amount. Seems like it would be good with chicken though, especially on nights when my husband eats pasta!!

    Tofu noodles?

Can you post a link to tofu noodles? Never heard of them. I'm not allowed to have zoodles because I'm supposed to have just protein not vegetables yet. However, tofu has lots of protein and that would be great.

    Gallbladder got me down

Thank you both for your replies. It really helps to know someone out there understands! I cannot wait until Monday so I can get some definite answers. I keep telling my gallbladder that if it doesn't behave I'll cut it out just like I did to my stomach, but it doesn't listen.
  6. I am one month out from surgery and have been doing really well to this point. I have not lost as much weight as I was hoping, but my stall has finally broken and I keep telling myself that slow weight loss means less loose skin, however true or untrue that is it makes me feel better. However, I am now having serious problems that are probably my gallbladder. I had what my doctor thinks was a gallbladder attack a few nights ago and it was horrible. Since then I've been in constant moderate pain and I'm very uncomfortable. I'm not allowed to have fat so as not to enrage my gallbladder, but I need to get in Protein. I don't feel like I was eating a lot of fat before, and now I'm afraid to eat anything. This is really the first time I have regretted having the surgery. I know that this too shall pass, but it's really hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just so desperate to get to that point where I can eat most things in moderation. I go to the doctor on Monday for them to confirm that it's my gallbladder and then I'll go from there as far as the next steps. I'm trying not to think about the possibility of surgery because it isn't a given yet and it really freaks me out to have another surgery so soon. I guess I'm just venting. How do you get yourself out of a mental slump?

    Increased pain with sitting

@angeljoyd: there will be a lot of bruising! It's sometimes hard to remember because the incisions are so small, but we all just had major surgery! those incisions go through your skin, fat, muscle, all the way to your internal organs! Bruising is to be expected. I had surgery on the 19th and the bruising is just starting to go away. I still have bruising from the blood thinner injections! Totally normal
  8. I haven't told anyone at work except one friend. I was off for ten days over thanksgiving so it helped that it was over a holiday. I just said I was taking a staycation and visiting some friends around. Nobody has asked, although someone asked what I ate over thanksgiving and I did have to lie about that. Also, I had to do a pre-op diet so I told everyone I was Oman elimination diet. Time to get healthy.

    Increased pain with sitting

When do you see your dr next? That large incision is going to be the most sensitive because it's where they pull the stomach out of. Mine is still a bit sore. There's nothing wrong with 1. Relaxing! Lie down! You just had surgery! And 2. Calling the dr to set yourself at ease if it's worrying you. and I hear you on the rolls. I actually think my back rolls might be shrinking already, but I could be making that up to make myself feel better

    Increased pain with sitting

Are your clothes pressing on the incision site? I think what you're feeling is pretty normal- I found lying was much more comfortable. If the pain is really bad and there isn't anything like clothes, or your bra pressing on them you may want to call the dr. Oh, also, is there a part of your body pressing on the site? I find my boobs sometimes press on one site and it hurts. Also if you have side rolls (not saying you do! I do...) that could press funny.

    Incision site lump

That's awful! I feel your pain- the OR Antibiotics during surgery gave me a yeast infection. So not fun.
  12. Anyone else have a giant lump under one incision site? It's the biggest incision site. It feels like I'm incubating an egg in there. I wonder what will hatch...

    Incision site lump

Thanks all- I'll email the dr. I'm two weeks out. I really don't think it's infected- it looks lie it's healing really well and isn't hot or painful. I'm guessing there are internal stitches. But, I'll email just in case. Thanks!

    Bruising

How far out from surgery are you? Are you still on blood thinners? My stomach is all bruised near the incisions and I have gross bruising where I was injected with heparin.
  15. This probably sounds dumb, but I'm confused about whether I should consider my protein shakes a liquid, which I could drink throughout the day, or food, which I can eat if I wait 25 minutes before and after to drink. Also, should I be limiting how much protein shake I have like I limit my food? I can get down almost 3 ounces of puréed food when I eat my "meal" but when I'm sipping water throughout the day I just keep sip sip sipping. Should I sip with the protein shake or eat it like food?

    Trapped Gas!

When you lie down, lie on your left side. That position helps the gas ease up. I'm suffering a bit as well, but the left side thing really helps.
  17. Oh good. That's a good amount of time out. I wanted to go from NY to FL a week after and they looked at me like I was insane. I hope they give you the all clear!

    Nobody said anything

I wouldn't say anything to someone who had lost a lot of weight unless I knew for sure that they were dieting and trying to lose weight. There's always a risk that they've lost weight because they were ill, and if you aren't particularly close of them there's a risk it insinuating that they were big before! They probably did notice, so don't be upset. You're doing great!
  19. Have you checked with your doctors to make sure it's OK for you to fly? After I had ankle surgery they were adamant that I not fly due to the risk of blood clots

    September 2nd - Super Nervous!

That's definitely a question for your surgeon. As you'll see on here, everyone's surgeon requires pretty drastically different presurgery diets. For example, my surgeon requires two weeks of liquids, but that includes protein shakes and fruits and vegetables as well as a small dinner including cooked lean meat. Compared to some others, that's a dream.

    Seminar in Scottsdale

Welcome! I don't have your insurance but I just wanted to say that I'm also being pretty private about it and it's been great being on boards as a release so I can talk about it. Good luck!

    Goal Weight

This is a really interesting question. I'm having a hard time picking a goal weight as well. I guess to start with I would choose 175 because I know it's possible. I've been there before. However, I think my real goal weight is more like 150. It's possible I weighed 150 at some point in my life, but I certainly don't remember it. I think my left leg weighs 150...
  25. . my date is November 16th. It feels so far away! Very exciting though! Isn't the waiting excruciating?? I've been filling the time slowly bettering my habits- cut out soda, trying to cut sugar (the struggle!), eating slower... Etc. it's a waiting game!
