26 LBS in 20 days, I'm so excited
-
Thanks everyone, well I'm just following my doctor's and dietitian orders, and it seems my body is responding well.
Nana, you mean nutrients wise? Well I'm having a lot of supplements and protein shakes, in addition to the normal food. My diet was divided into 4 stages:
* stage 1: clear fluids ( Light Apple juice or Pineapple and jello) for 1 week after the operation
* stage 2: Semi liquid diet (low or no fat) for 9 days after stage 1, soups, yogurt, all kind of light juices, Jello and puddings.
* stage 3: Mashed diet with the introduction of carbohydrates for 14 days after stage 2.
* stage 4: Normal food, but preferably to start introducing 1 item at a time, as to see if anything could upset my stomach.

Amy,
The cough is normal, you were supposed to be using an Incentive spirometer before the operation to decrease the mucus in your lungs. If you have an incentive from your Hospital, try to use it as much as possible.
For the diet, I think you advanced very fast, I stayed on Clear Liquids for 1 week after my operation (Jello, Chicken / Meat Broth, Apple Juice). Your stomach is not yet relaxed after the operation, and the semi liquid food you are having might disturb your stomach. I advise you to go for some clear liquids for a couple of days, than go back to the semi liquid diet.
