Possibly worrying too much about how to tell others I've had VSG. What did you do?
I never understand the need to tell anyone. My husband and I told my daughter, but not his 30 year old son. Neighbors don't know, friends don't know. They rant on about our weight loss, God forbid they would be ranting on about our surgery, IF we had told them.

Pain
I was 67 and spent 8 hours in the hospital, and took one pain pill when I came home. I don't understand why some of us have pain and others not. I had a hernia too. Please call the doctor when in doubt.

This is happening and I'm crying!!!
I began losing hair like take this at five months. I bought a great wig when I realized I needed it, and got plenty of compliments. I wore a hat at times at the beach, or boating. After almost two years it is now healthy. Some people tell you what to do. Phooey! I did it all. Good luck!

Pre-op Diet & Gout
Definitely. Five months of gout following sleeve. Miracle cure. Two weeks of fruit and vegetables, no meat, take herbal supplements of celery, tart cherry, curamin, drink tart cherry juice, and use turmeric as a condiment. I was cured in the week. The gout medicine put me in the ER.

Newbies and shakes
Hello. As someone who came here in 2013, loved the camaraderie, then fled after the barrage of attacks, especially on newbies, and the one sided opinions for sureI came back seeking support. The feeding frenzy not only attacks newbies, they attack anyone. I have no room in my life for this site to allow the elite VIPs to bash people. When you see VIP under their name they got it FREE so don't you dare pay monthly. One of the guys leaked this and the ummm excuse was it was a one time deal. Laugh right? This site has become the moderator sitting back letting these bitches attack people. Men don't get it it because they are somloved by the womb. Trust me, they are getting sucked up to lol. I will not be back. Take a screen shot of this because it will be down immediately. Beware, this is a business and the moderator allows the bitches to attack you. Goodbye Felicia, no one here will ever disrespect me again. This post will be deleted immediate I assure you all. So humor me, take a photo, wait and see. Good luck everyone.

What were your worst symptoms post-op?
Kaiser, there are so many things that happen to different people. I am sorry a lot of people have so many problems. My husband and I have never had a problem in three years with anything. Good luck.

Being politically correct sucks!
Honestly I don't know how families survive these days. This sucks.

Halo Top ice cream
Not really funny that you got sick, but chicken about did me in two months post sleeve. I really thought I chewed it well.

I have been sleeved
There is an anti nausea patch for behind the ear, and one that melts under your tongue. Maybe you can ask for one of them?

Unflavored protein powder?
I love the little scoop with so much protein. If I had used any other protein powder I had with V8, it would not have worked. It has no taste that I detect.
-
Unflavored protein powder?
Thanks, this is interesting to know.

Chicken
I always was a chicken breast lover. Since the sleeve, I just do not even want it. It was the first thing I choked on when eating my first meal, a small piece of soft crockpot chicken. Thought I would die.

Unflavored protein powder?
I am now using GenePro. No flavor I can detect, so one very small scoop in V8 works great. I do not like the milky taste of Bariatric Advantage. Right now I am adding Hershey's Unsweetened COcoa Powder with barely any calories, and. truvia, to shakes. By far my favorite protest shake.

Rate Of Weight Loss, Those Starting Under 200 Lb?
I seriously got back to basics about six weeks ago to try and lose more. Drinking one or two Shakes a day, and eating greens and proteins. I have lost five lbs. but the scale is stuck. I pretty much eat right, but a lot of trips to the Gulf Coast, and wonderful seafood, was my downfall. Last night we had Snapper sautéed in a bit of olive oil. I will not give up, but it seems no matter how little I eat, the scale doesn't move.

Need support
I wish you all well. I cannot imagine going through all this pain. Good luck!

Fill out your STATS, weight, height and surgery date!
Laughing!

Fill out your STATS, weight, height and surgery date!
No big deal. I just noticed a lot of people ask the questions before responding because sometimes their answer is based on how recent your surgery was, and your weight. Good luck!!!
-
I have been sleeved
Hope you feel better soon. The hernias repaired with the sleeve are pretty common. They should be able to give you something for nausea?

Fill out your STATS, weight, height and surgery date!
I can believe that. I usually use my IPad, but when using my phone I don't have access to everything.

Slowing weight loss on purpose?
There are scientific studies that outweigh your opinion, LOL! It maybe true for you, but I lost hair after my gallbladder surgery and after a kidney surgery in addition to my WLS and Plastics. Telogen Effluvium is a real scientific thing. Doctors have studied it. Just because it doesn't happen to YOU does not mean hair loss doesn't happen with anesthesia. I said IMHO, so did it look like I was claiming to be an expert?

Time off
At age 67 I could have been back to work in 4 days. I never felt I even had surgery. We are all different.

So many biased one sided opinions on here...
Actually it was my "gut" instincts that got me into so much trouble with my weight in the first place . It was trusting my surgeon, doctor's and therapist's advice that got me where I am today. That, along with the comraderie and encouragement (not medical advice) from my support group. What bothers me is serious medical issues that a surgeon naeeds to assess, not our eating habits and getting fat. I cringe when someone asks serious medical questions here. Support groups are not doctors either.
