Did your Doc require a pre-op diet?
Chilly replied to whosthatgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
No pre-op liquid diet here. My doctor would be happy if I stay or lost weight before surgery but if I gain the surgery would have to be rescheduled. Chilly -
I found this: (hope it is ok) heating pad flexible ice pack movies/books liquid tylenol comfy clothes/shoes (slip on shoes) pillows sports bra Protein shakes broth or stuff to make broth sugarfree popicles sugarfree jell-o crystal light bottled Water stool softener kitchen timer (for the first few days so u take sips) and remember to buy all your groceries you will need for at least 2 weeks after surgery. I hope this helps you. Chilly

Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?
Chilly replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A couple of things that I would do after losing the weight would be to go on a roller coast with my kids. (Since they have a weight limit now of 200 lbs.) I would also like to buy clothes that are cute and have them actually fit right and comfortable. I would love to be able to walk, run and travel with my kids and family without having to make special arrangements for me on airplanes or being pushed around amuzement parks. THAT IS MY DREAM COME TRUE!!!!! Chilly -
Congrats! My surgery is also scheduled for April 15th. I also did not have to do a liquid diet, just had to watch what I was eating and to eat healthy to shrink the liver. I hope your surgery goes great. Chilly

Doctor Doesn't Require A Pre-Op Diet...
Chilly replied to Angelyco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my doctor doesn't require a pre-op diet either. I seen someone says protein shakes and a healthy dinner. I was going to try that. I hope you can find one. Good luck on your lapband journey. Chilly -

I know this might sound stupid to some people but I was wondering. Can you take a shower at the hospital after the surgery? If not, how long after surgery can you shower? Thanks, Chilly

I have a friend who has had the bypass and she stretched her pouch and she gained most of the weight back and has not be able to lose it. I am not sure if that is true for everyone. Hope this helps alittle. Chilly

I have been trying to lose weight since Dec. 2007 and I have lost 14 lbs. but no more. I read about others losing a lot more. 1) What am I doing wrong with not losing weight? 2)What should I except after surgery while in the hospital and coming home? I am so scared and not sure if I want to continue with the journey. I am really thinking about saying no but then I think of my kids and I say pain for a few mos. is worth it (I think). Please help. Thanks, Chilly:crying:

Thanks for all the advice that was given. I called the doctor's office back and rescheduled to see her again. I am now looking at having surgery in April during spring break. I think that would be the best for me because then my daughter will be here to help me if I need it with my son. Is there a limit on what you can go after surgery? (as in going to work, laundary and cleaning) Thanks, Chilly

Hi lovingheart... I would say to go to a seminar and that will give you more information. I don't know Dr. Caurna sorry. You also need to check with your insurance to see who does the surgery. Remember before you can go to the seminar you have to at least turn your paperwork in and they will call you. Just because you were called and going to the seminar doesn't mean that you have to have the surgery done. Just go and listen to them talk. That is going to help you make your mind up. Chilly

I am just starting my journey. I am going to be banded in early March. I go back to see the doctor on Feb. 7th and then the surgery will be scheduled. I like Dr. Forbes and the group that is there. They will let you pick the doctor that you would like to see. Have you been to the seminar yet? Chilly

I have a friend that had bypass and now is thinking of having the lapband. She has gained weighed back because of the meds she is on. The question I have is: will she qualify for the lapband since she already had the other done? Thanks for your help. Chilly

HI! I am a 36 yr. old mother of 2 from New York State. My lap-band doctor is Dr. Forbes from Buffalo General Hosp. I am just starting the journey like most of you. I was looking for a site that I could use to talk about things that might/will come up that friends/family don't understand. Patti (chilly)
