I had it too. I panicked for a couple of hours 2 days post... Thinking what have I done? Can I get my stomach back out of the bio-hazard container? Then I remembered I wasn't feeling bad, wasn't hungry and I NEEDED WLS to get MY life back. NO REGRETS :D

^^^ Me too Jane! When you start feeling better, have more energy, and you start shedding the weight: your regret will disappear and you will have realized it was one of the best decisions you've ever made FOR your life.

  2. Yes, my clear liquids have been Water, Powerade, broth, diluted juices, SF Popsicles. I'm so anxious to try anything else it's driving me in sane. I think that is where the remorse comes in. Not feeling like myself and not having anything to comfort myself.
  3. Typo - I was in the hospital from Saturday to Monday with Dehydration.
  4. I Had surgery yesterday and they just weighed me now, I am up 5 pounds. Nothing to worry about yet. Just follow the program. Everyone is different.

  6. I am scheduled for surgery on Thursday of this week (less then 48 hours... eeekkkk) and I have not been put on any type of pre-op diet. Is this normal? My doc said nothing to eat or drink after 9pm the night before surgery but no other restrictions prior to surgery... Is this weird or am I crazy? Thanks!
  7. Trust me I'm not complaining. I just thought it was odd especially after hearing about everyone talk about their pre-op diets and stuff. Well one more day till the big day... I sort of feel like it's the night before my wedding all over again, lol.
  8. Yes! Your surgeon will not be able to answer the "payment" questions for you but make sure to tell them that you are self pay so they can get you the numbers of the people you need to talk to. Also, some surgeons will not take self pay patients. I had to sign a contract with the hospital and put money down. Then they gave me the numbers of the 3 other places I would need to call. All in all here are the breakdowns: Hospital - $13,500 - I had to put $5,500 down and sign up for med credit for the rest. I also had to sign a contract. This contract went over what was all involved. 1-2 nights in the hospital, all the instruments used for surgery, all of the supplies used for surgery, all the meds I would receive, etc... It was very detailed. There is a clause in there that said if I only stay one night I do not get a refund on any money but if I have to stay longer then 2 nights I can be charged more money - LOL I loved how they put that in there Surgeon - My surgeon was $3,200 but if I were to prepay I would get a 20% discount (Which I did) and it came to like $2,400. Anesthesiologist - $1,100 I needed to provide them a CPT Code for the surgery (you get this from the hospital) and they gave me a flat fee. I was able to get 20% off for prepayment again. Nurse Anesthesiologist - $859 for one hour of surgery. That was after a 10% prepayment discount. She did warn me that if I go over in surgery by 15 minutes they will bill me for the remaining balance. I guess they get paid by the minute. I should have went into that field of work - hahaha. All in all it was roughly $17,00 for me. We were lucky enough to be able to save up for a year and only have 8k left. Let me know if you have any other questions. thanks!
  9. I agree with inner surfer girl - try some mint, lemon, lime, cucumber, apples, etc... to infuse your Water. Might help.

    Freaking Out...

Hello everyone I am new here! I have been lurking in the shadows for a while but this is the first time I have posted here. I am scheduled for my Sleeve on Thursday and I am starting to have a lot of anxiety about it. I am self pay so first and foremost it's $17k right out of my pocket (although my husband keeps insisting that it's going to a good cause and he wants me to be happy again) I'm the saver he's the spender and I just keep thinking over and over that I am jumping in too fast. I have been going through the process for a year now. I have had all 6 nutrition appointments, 2 psychologist appointments and have seen my surgeon several times. I am fully prepared and know what to expect. My house if filled with juices, broths, Water, etc.. in preparation for me to not eat for a few weeks. So why am I freaking out? Is this normal? Did anyone else feel this way?

    Self Pay Cost

I signed a contract for mine - $9,400 down and then med credit for the rest. Total cost is $17,500 and I'm in MN. I am scheduled for this Thursday and to be honest yes I am nervous about complications and the price going up.
