  1. Butter Cup, From my previous experince, the Lexapro didn't really start working for me until I started taking 40mg a day. Before that I felt some changes, but the realy "New Me" came after the 40 mg, so I say talk to your doc about using it a little more. My doc and pharmicist say that the Lexapro stops working once you exceed 60mg/day which is a high dose, but before that there is much more room for good results.
  2. I took Welbutrin about a year ago to make me quit smoking. it DROVE ME CRAZYYYYYYY. For 6 days straight I couldn't sleep. I was soooooo tired, so restless, yet I wasn't able to sleep. I'm glad it is working for you.
  3. How much Lexapro do you take? I started with 20mg and now I'm up to 60mg. I guess the magic of Lexapro is wearing out.

Envious of friend that has had GB

La madam, What sweet words and wisdom you came with... Plus I heard that a good chunck of people eaither die or develop VERY serious problems along with GB as I was reading in thier forums, except the lucky few of course With the band, I guess the worst case scenario would be that you have to remove the band!! and that's it, you are back 100% normal without detours inside you

    Band Blockage

Hi all, I have a question about band blockage, (when food gets stuck) What happens when the food get stuck, I mean does it go down after a while? does it hurt? does it come out in a form of vomit? Would it ever stick there for few days/weeks?? Thanks,

    Do you take ibuprofen?

I take (Lexapro) which is anti-anxiety drug, on daily basis Do you think it is a problem to keep taking it, after I get my band? And can you take other pills (except NSAIDS) with the band?
  7. Hi all:) I'm a HEAVY smoker (30-40) cigs a day, I know its bad and yada yada yada... Just wondering if it harms the band in any way or not? or if it makes it easier to develp some of the side effects like refulx and so on. Any smokers around, who could throw in their 2 cents? or non smokers too:)

    Eating out?

Tamiko, Sorry to hear about your bad experinces. But come on, eating ribs, then why get the band in the first place. I mean you got it to limit your food intake not to go out and about eating ribs and drinking beer:) Anyhow, that begs another question, what happens when the food get stuck, I mean does it go down after a while? does it hurt? does it come out in a form of vomit? Would it ever stick there for few days/weeks?? I didn't get my band yet, but once I do, I'm sure all the SWEET New England restaurant that I like to eat in would be something from the past. Best of luck again, and chew the ribs well next time:)

    Newbie considering lapband

Hello Foxcee, And welcome to best forum on Earth:) I had the same question as yours when I first thought of getting the band. I'm not banded yet, but will be in this upcoming Feb. Here is my thread, hope you find some answers http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?t=9827 And please post if you got any more questions. See you around...
  11. Hello guys, This forum is very warm becuase of all the feminane touch we have from the ladies around. BUT I was wondering how are the guys in here, if you are a man please reaply to this thread so we can know how many are here. I'm curious, casue I have some (male only) questions that I wanted to ask, and did not feel comfortable posting it outloud.

Who are the MALES in here

This is pure discrimination, why when we have "male only questions" we are expected to PM each others. WHILE Ladies go OUTLOUD discussing their boobs and periods. Is that fair;)

Who are the MALES in here

RIGHT ON BROTHERSSSSS I'm very happy to see that we are not a minority in here as I thought. However, we are a silent community. the_best_me: About my question, I would've asked if ladies didn't flood this thread. Nevertheless you ladies are welcomed DAY or NIGHT Heck, I wouldn't even imagine myself living and going if it wasn't for ladies:) Love'm all
  14. Type BMI calculator on Yahoo! or so. And calculate your BMI, if your BMI is 40 or higher then you are a good candidate for the operation. If your BMI is 35 or so and you have health related issues from obesity you might qualify as well. Good luck
  15. bandayed, Thank you sooooooooo much for the great info, about the prices But HOLYYYYYY MOLYYYYYYYYY They are soo expensive for a self pay. I have college insurance since I'm doing my masters. and as you know college insurances tend to be cheap and they would never cover me for that. I thought hospitals in the US charges 15k to 20k, and thought it was expensive already. How about 35k:dead I guess I will go with the option of the Midband in France, they charge 6k Euros, thats about 8k or 9k $. Thanks a lot again, and all the best
  16. Hi all, I live in Boston and I was wondering how much did you pay, if you were a self pay of course. I called some hospitals like Brigham and Women's and BI, but never got a straight answer. Your answers are greatly appreacited.

    Unbanded after 4.5 years....

Tizag, You are the angel of mercey:) I'll tell you why? 20 minutes ago, I checked my own post and there was no reply. So I went to read others posts as usual, and then I went to your thread, and I read your long story, every word of it. By the time I finished reading your post, I went back to my question and there is your answer!!!! it seemed like we both read each others posts in the same time:) Your story was very touchy, and I felt sad at first, then I got really happy as I read "Mom I want some juice" you said you wouldn't have heard this sweet voice if u didn't get the band. I'm glad you got 2 little angels to spread happines in your life, and I'm glad you are strong. Thanks for your reply to my question about the gastroscopy in my thread, best of luck to you and all the best:) <!-- / message -->
  18. Hi all, I got my appt for the midband with Dr Frering in France in Feb. As I was reading my confirmation letter, it says that the day before the surgery I will sleep in the hospital for a Gastroscopy. They said its an endoscope that goes from the mouth to check out the stomach and intestine. I got really horrified once I read this, especsially that they will use full anesthesia for the endoscopy one day before the operation. And that menas I would need another anesthesia the following day for the band. So is this normal? And did all of you guys had the gastroscopy/endoscopy? cause i'm freaking out in here:(

    Do I need a Gastroscopy

  20. Hi nurse4126, Thanks for your input. I went to BI few times before for some check ups. What a great hospital. Would you mind telling me how much did it cost you? Cause I inquired at some places before and I was told no less than 20K. to the point where I was driven to get the band overseas in Franace. If you you don't feel comfortable posting the cost, you can PM it to me and that would be greatly appreacited. Thanks:)

    Itchy-Itchy Boobs & Tummy

sallykotz, I'm very sorry to hear your sufferings. But your post, raised a question in my mind, do people really get unexplained pain/aches after getting the band? Some say their legs hurt and so on, so does it have anything to do with the band? or its just has nothing to do with the band. Thanks and best of luck:)
  22. Hello all, I've been around the forum for sometime now, thanks all for your knowledge and support. I finally decided to do get banded. But actually I will get the Mid-Band with Dr. Frering in Lyon, France. I will have my surgery in mid Febraury. I would appreciate any inputs or thoughts about the mid-band or Dr. Frering that would like to share with me. Thanks a lot, and guys you are the best, Magic
  23. Hi Margo, finally a crusier like me My brother took the Disney cruise and he liked it a lot. Nevertheless, when I planned my crusie I wanted something big, so I went on Royal Caribbean, and it was the best thing I did. When I showed my brother the pictures he was out of words, he couldn't believe what he missed by going on a Disney instead of a RCCL. But when I say RCCL, I mean their big ships the Voyger family which takes 3000 people. not the losuy little ones It was the best trip in my life, espically that RCCL is an all age ship, it has lots of kids, adults, families and all that jazz. Go on the 7 days Voyger and I'm sure that you will thank me for it. P.S: RCCL is coming up with the biggest crusie ship afloat soon, its called Freedom of the seas, see if its out by the time when you take your cruise

On my way to get banded

Thanks for your kind word guys, I will surely keep posted as I get my band. <O:p</O:p About having the band done in France <V:p</V:pI always visit my brother who lives in Switzerland. <ST1:pSo I though it would be nice to have the operation done in Europe since doing it in Mexico<ST1:p</ST1:p is not an option for me, and doing it back in the States is SOOOO expensive. <O:p</O:pI started searching on the net, and found that one of the best surgeons in the world is in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comSwitzerland</st1:country-region>, which is only 2 hours driving to France. <st1:country-region w:st=" /><st1:City w:st="on">Lyon</st1:City>, <st1:country-region w:st="on">France</st1:country-region> (they cliam that he placed thousands of bands) So I thought why not do it in France, <st1:country-region w:st="on"><ST1:p</st1:country-region>and enjoy few days while at it<?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shape id=_x0000_i1026 style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" type="#_x0000_t75" alt=""> </v:shape><O:p</O:p Plus after my research I found that the mid-band has less complications when comparing to the Inmad Lap-Band. Although it still not approved back in the States. So I'll just cross my fingers that what I read about the mid-band is true.<O:p</O:p <O:p</O:p And (the_best_me) I would really like if you can get Megan to throw her 2 cents about the mid-band. Thanks a lot and the best to you guys <O:p</O:p

2nd fill was a total nightmare!

Sorry to hear about your suffering. Wish you all the best. I'm about to get banded soon, and just wondering, do you have to drink barium each time you go for a fill? Or each doc do the fill differently?
