    Hi everyone!
I haven't been on here for awhile! I hope everyone finds this website as usfl as I did and still do!
its been almost 15 months since my Surgery. My starting weight was 465 lbs and as of this morning I am down to 222lbs exactly
that's a 243 weight loss total. I hit a stall for Weeks!! so I started walking more and added more food to my diet (healthy food of course)
once I started that the weight started coming off again (PHHHEW) I am 42 lbs away from my original goal weight and let me tell you.. THIS FEELS AMAZING!!!! my life has completely changed for the better.. im more active and im living the life I always wanted for me and my daughter
if anyone is deciding to get this surgery I will always tell you GO FOR IT!!!
I had fears but the happiness of feeling free and "normal" outweighs that fear I had before deciding to have this surgery.
it literally saved my life! good luck to those who are starting their journey and keep it up!
I will always say this; This was the best decision I ever made and I do not regret anything!!!!!!

    Hello friends!
My story is a little long, so thanks for taking the time to read it!
I received a GB in Dec 2012 because I had kidney disease and I needed a transplant. The Dr's told me they wouldn't do it unless I lost 100 lbs. I was at 317 lbs then. A year later I had lost about 140 lbs and I was listed on the waiting list. The goal was to get a transplant before I needed dialysis, but it didn't work out that way. I started dialysis at home at 187 lbs (but it added about 500 cals a day against my will) in 2015 and when I got the call that there was a kidney for me two years later, I had gained 50 lbs. The morning of the surgery I weighed 236. The next morning I gingerly got on the scale and weighed 258!!! Of course my first question was to ask how heavy was the kidney! Most of it was Fluid, of course, but they had pumped me full of steroids before, during, and after the surgery to avoid rejection and that contributed to the gain. That was 2 months ago. I'm now at 250, down just 8 lbs. Yes, I'm still on steroids but they are slowly lowering the dose as I progress. My new kidney is doing awesome and I'm feeling better every day!
I've been given the green light to start walking and doing some light core strengthening exercises since my abdominal muscles are pretty much shot right now. I'm walking a collective mile every day, but I'm having trouble with my diet.
My bypass still works well, I stop when I'm full, and my portions are still small. My issue is that the prednisone makes me want to eat more so I find myself grazing a lot. I try to opt for healthy foods, but it doesn't seem to be making much of a dent in my weight.
I saw my wls surgeon this week and he's not worried at all. He said my weight will fluctuate the first year so not to worry. Easy for him to say, he can fit all of his clothes!
My goal right now is to just get back to my pre-transplant weight so I don't freeze this winter. I can't wear sun dresses much longer!
Thanks for reading my story! I'm hoping that reading your stories will motivate me to continue working on my goals!

    GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!
just a little message to throw out there because im excited!!! as of this morning I am down 216 pounds
from 465 to 249 in almost a year AMAZES ME! I hit a stall for a month and stayed at 277... I really thought my weight loss ended lol
but I changed things around and I started to lose again! the stall sucked!! it made me feel awful for some reason..then my co workers reminded me how far I've come already. this surgery wasn't an easy way out, it still takes a lot of work mentally and physically to get to where we want to be! so for those of u who are at a stall just remember its temporary and don't beat yourself up. I've got 50 more pounds to lose to reach my goal of being under 200lbs. (I never ever thought I could say that) and 69 pounds to get to my drs goal of 180.
    im almost there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am at a year this month and have been stalled since my 9 month weight in. I keep saying to myself at least I'm not gaining! I am happy at my current weight but I think another 20 pounds would be perfect. I am sure I will get there. I think that at 9 months the journey starts to move into a reality. We have proven to ourselves that we can mentally and physically lose weight and that "diet" we have been following since the surgery broadens with adding carbs .. pop .. and other normal foods. We all really need to figure out were normal is and realizing the diet is what normal should look like.
I am very happy for you Journey!

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I really appreciate your input. You are so right, this is not an easy way out. It takes work, commitment and determination. I am 7 months out and I've been stalled for a few weeks now. I went to the nutritionist last week and she said I'm not eating enough Protein and also my calorie intake is too low. I bought some Premier Protein boxes and I'm hoping that helps. There are 30 grams of protein in each drink box. I also upped my exercise. Do you eat 6 small meals a day? I don't but I will try doing that and see if it helps. Good luck with your journey. Wishing you continued success.

    Thanks Everyone!!
I was eating the same thing over and over again. I just added more veggies.. and protein.. Protein protein protein! I was lacking it for a little bit. I found myself drinking a lot of sugared drinks, YUCK! that's one road I don't want to go down again!!! and finally I added more walking. I don't do gyms.. I just walk and do as much as I can with my toddler I hope you find a way to break the stall but that stall does suck!!! I hit it 2 times and both lasted almost a month

good luck to u and good luck to everyone! people who haven't had this surgery always assume this is the easy way but it surely isn't, still takes a lot of work. mentally and physically! its a challenge I accepted and Im here for the long run
