  1. Hi everyone. I was banded on the 28th also and I too am having guilt about not being able to do this on my own. Right now my kids are making popcorn and it smells sooo good. I'm feeling pretty good though- not a lot of pain but I hungry and so sick of sweet shakes. I want anything that's not sweet
  2. Lookin2loose, let us know how you're doing! I hope you're feeling better.
  3. I had my surgery by Dr. Oliak just 5 days ago. I feel great. His staff has been really supportive also.
  4. I was just banded on April 28 and will see the nutritionist in about a week but I was wondering... are bandsters allowed to eat corn on the cob? Even if it's just a little, I'd be happy.
  5. Cellphoneman, I'm still having these pains in my chest to my throat. They last for about 10 seconds and then disappear, especially when I sit up. Let us know how what your doctor said.
  6. You guys are lucky that you start mushies after 1 week. I have to be on full liquids for 2 weeks but I'm ready for some cottage cheese or anything that doesn't taste sweet.
  7. Cellphoneman, I'm having the same problem. I was banded 4/28. Does it disapear after about 10 seconds?
  8. I posted this somewhere else too but does anyone out there know who we could contact to tell about this web site being so slow today? Someone e mailed me a while ago with a guy named Alex who is supposed to fix these problems but I can't find that email.
  9. Congratulations Ceinman. I was banded on April 28 and feeling pretty good except for a pain that comes and goes in my chest area. Dr. says it's probably gas.
  10. How are you April 28th bandsters doing? This is our 4th day. I'm feeling pretty good but I get this pain in my chest especially when I sit up. When can you start eating mushies?
  11. This website is moving really slow. Does anyone know who to contact? I think his name is Alex. Thanks!
  12. Newjem, I was banded by Dr. Oliak on 4/28-just 2 days ago. Dr. Oliak and his staff have been great. I have no complaints. They've always answered my questions quickly when I call. I would highly recommend Dr. Oliak. Oh. My insurance had sent me to a different dr. but I had heard great things about Dr. Oliak and I asked to change to him. The insurance (Blue Cross) said that it was alright since Dr. Oliak works at a Bariatric Center of Excellence. Good luck and let me know what you decide.
  13. I was banded on April 28th and feeling pretty good. I am having pains in my chest area though. They're from my chest area to my throat. The doctor says it's probably gas. It's especially bad when I sit up. Does anyone else have this?
  14. i am having the same problem. The pain is from my chest area up to my throat. It mostly happens when I sit up after laying down. It lasts for about 10 seconds and then disappears. Thanks for all your advice.
  15. Is something wrong with Lapbandtalk tonight? Mine is moving really slooooow.
  16. lookin, I'm being banded tomorrow and really feel for you. From what i'm hearing from a lot of people, once you can start eating real food, things start to look a lot better. If you still feel this way tomorrow, call your dr. I wish I was almost a week out like you. Hang in there and please keep us posted.
  17. I know this is a weird question but my doctor's office gave me these spongey things and told me to clean myself in the shower the night before surgery. I jut can't remember how to use them. She said to use one to clean all over but it's the second one that I can't remember. Is it only for my stomach area? Did anyone else have to do this and if so, please help me out here.
  18. Wow. I just posted about this same thing earlier today. I'll be banded on April 28th and am so nervous about the new lifestyle. I'm afraid of PBing, getting food stuck, sliming, etc. Let's keep in touch afterwards and encourage each other. Good luck.
  19. Let's come back to this thread when we're up to it after we are banded. I'd love to encourage each other. Good luck to all of you and keep each other in your prayers.
  20. But do you feel "not hungry" with the lapband, the same way you felt "not hungry" with phen-fen? I mean, is the feeling (not wanting to eat) similiar.
  21. Hi Tami. Somehow I missed this post from you. I'm being banded next week and am vey nervous about all of the changes that I'll have to make. I'm also afraid of PBing, sliming, getting food stuck, eating only 6 bites of food and all the other stull I keep reading about here. LIfe is good for me now - no major health issues (that I know about) besides my weight. Sometimes I wonder why I'm putting myself through this. How have you been doing since being banded?
  22. You said the doctor has not done a fluro. on you yet. That makes no sense. Isn't that one of the first things he should do?
  23. I used Phen- fen in the mid ninties and lost about 50 lbs. It was wonderful. I felt great and had no hunger or cravings. Is that kind of how the lapband feels? Is there anyone who used phen-fen and lost weight and now has the lapband?
  24. Deb2Getfit, Thank you for all of your advice. I'll be reading your posts over again next week after I'm banded.
