Like "athinnerdenise", my doctor said that I can take all medicines if they are broken and don't sit in my stomach. Gastric bypass patients have more restrictions. He did say no time release pills though.

My blood pressure went up also right after surgery. It had never been that high either. The doctor ended up keeping me in the hospital overnight because of it and then had me go to my primary doctor a few days later. I was put on a low dose of some blood pressure medication and now it's fine. I'm hoping to get off that soon after I loose some weight.

Is Miralax alright to take everyday? Right now I'm taking Benefiber and it doesn't seem to be helping.

Thank you for informing us of this in the midst of your great loss. You and your family are in my prayers.

I was banded on April 28th. I had next to no pain. I never took the perscription pain medicince or liquid tylonal ever. It was more of an uncomfortable feeling. I did have some gas around the 3rd day so I took gas X strips and felt better instantly. I was real scared about the pain but there really hasn't been much.

Tx., Congratulations on lasting 5 weeks on full liquids w/o cheating. Wow. I was only on for 2 weeks and that was hard. Enjoy your Mexican food! I think you deserve to treat yourself after working so hard.

My doctocr says Metamucil and Benefiber are OK to take after being banded. I've read that smoe doctors say do not use these for Constipation. I'm not sure what to do.

OKpunkinpie, I bet if you wrote down what you're eating, you are eating so much less than you ate before surgery. My doctor said to try to learn the new bandster habits during this healing phase but don't get discouraged if you gain weight before reaching your sweet spot. Good luck.

I was sad and scared for the first few days after surgery. I saw a steak in the freezer and almost started crying thinking that I may never have that again. I kept thinking "I hope this is worth it." I'm about 12 days out now and feeling better but am still sad over the foods I may never have again-steak, salads, Pasta. I've heard that a lot of people have trouble with these.

I was banded on April 28th so I'm about 12 days out. In the hospital, I was given a Protein Drink along with broth and was told to eat as much as i could. Since then, I'm supposed to get in 60 - 80gms of Protein (Slim Fast low carb) and 64 oz. of clear liquids. I was easily able to drink 3 Slim Fasts a day starting on about day 2. Make sure you're getting your protein. The drs. office said to make sure when you choose your shakes, that you're choosing Meal Replacement shakes like Opti Fast, Slim Fast and not meal suppliment shakes like most of them are. The meal relacement shakes will have all of the Vitamin and minerals you need. Wayoflife, you said that you're on clear liquids for 2 weeks. That sounds like a long time without protein. Good luck everyone.

Thanks for all of your tips. Shouldn't I be on solids by then? I'll be 7 1/2 weeks out by the start of the cruise.
-
Thunderstorm, Let us know how you did with the Swedish Fish. I love them too!

In about 5 weeks, I will be going on a cruise. i will be 7 weeks out from my surgery by then. I've decided to wait to have my first fill after the cruise. Do you think I will be able to eat a piece of lobster or even half a piece on the cruise and maybe put a little butter on it? I think I'm craving food right now because I'm still in the liquid stage.

i was never on a pre op diet. I could eat anything until 3:00 the day before surgery. I think your fine.

bordryu. I had my surgery on 4/28 and since about day 3, I could drink just like before the surgery. Is that normal?

I am almost 2 weeks out and so sick of shakes. I get to start mushies this weekend. Does anyone know if hummus is a good choice in the mushie phase?

Hope2bhealthy, I was just banded on 4/28 but hope to be eating more like you. I read about everyone eating only fat free, sugar free foods but I prefer to eat more regular foods, only less of it. I'll let you know how I do. Good luck to you.

I was banded on 4/28 and I too feel more out of breath, especially after walking up 1 fight of stairs. The doctor says i just need more time to recover after my surgery. I'm going to start taking walks next week and hoping that helps.

amc581. I'm feeling the same way too. I was banded 4/28. I think I had somewhat of a panic attack the other day thinking about not being able to eat prime rib again. I just read a post about someone not being able to eat Swedish Fish. I love Swedish Fish and forever just seems too long to go w/out them. I'm hoping that once I could start eating a little, I'll feel better but right now, I'm grieving over the loss of food.< /p>

Headhunter, Hope all is well with you. Let us know how you are doing and know that we are thinking about you.

If you have a Trader Joes near you, they sell the Kashi Protein drink. The only thing is, my dr. says that I must choose Meal Replacement drinks, ie.Slim fast, Unjury, Optifast, not protein suppliment drinks.

Which foods can you not eat?

Chickie, you look great and are an inspiration to us all. I was banded in April of '08 and have not had a fill yet. I've lost 40 lbs and have 30 to go. I can eat absolutely everything-bread, Pasta, meat, rice, etc., just smaller portions. I won't get a fill until weight loss slows way down. I don't like the idea of getting "stuck" and I figure, why rock the boat when I've had study weight loss. Everyone's different but I rather enjoy all foods, only in smaller portions. Good luck to everyone.
