What are you looking forward to?
chavezmommy replied to vixen85's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can't wait to go shopping when I get to a size 12 or 14!! I'm in a 20 from a 22 so that seems so far away but hey I need those stretch goals right?! -
HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!
chavezmommy replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved on 1/29. Does any one feel like you have air in your pouch about an hour after you eat. Not gurgling or gas but; like a bubble below where your sternum ends. I'm having a hard time discerning hunger from that feeling... -
What Is Your Biggest Fear?
chavezmommy replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm 3 weeks postop. Not loosing the weight. Not keeping it off. Regaining over the long run. Eating the wrong stuff. Wondering if I'm doing the right thing when I eat 2 oz but feel stuffed. Maybe I over ate but I'm following the directions?! -
Three weeks out and can eat four ounces easily..normal?
chavezmommy replied to provenzee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat. 3 weeks out. I think some foods go down more quickly. I've heard them referred to as slider foods. When I eat Soups or turkey chili I can eat more than when I eat canned chicken with cheese. You are doing great by measuring and being cognizant of how much you're eating. I think it would be good for both of us to reach out to our nutritionist to get their insight. I'll share what mine says. Hang in there! You got this! -
Self-Sabotage & why I eat crap
chavezmommy replied to Ruth1ess's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm 3 weeks post op and I can totally relate. Yesterday I over ate. I cooked and ate green chili soup and it brought me back to "this is my food and this is what I eat. This satisfies me." Evenings are when I struggle most. I over ate the most during the evening pre-surgery. When I eat the allowed food it tastes ok but I have a hard time knowing when to stop. When will I feel satisfied? I think it's a habit that it's not until I feel gross full. Otherwise I feel empty. I'm referring to my stomach and my inner being. I don't have a solution to this yet. I'm glad to see this post and hope learn from others. -
I gained and they didn't cancel. Stick to the pre surgery diet when the time comes.

Dinning Out for the first time...
chavezmommy replied to Lisa_85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Deep breaths. It will pass. The only way you know the limits is to try. I've eaten too fast and tried foods off of the allowed list and suffered. You'll feel better soon. Hang in there! -
Thanks Kristen! Very insightful! I think food for me is a treat. It's a quick fix fun thing to enjoy. I think it's because I nor my family have vacations or hobbies. The kids have activities and school and hubby and I both work but I think I'm bored and want some fun injected into our lives. Maybe it's regular vacations (will require budgeting) and certainly when I get healthy enough we will be biking, skiing etc. Hmmm I need to get to the root of this. Thanks for the advice. ????

I forgot to add I have seriously considered getting bacon cheeseburger, taking one bite chewing and spitting it out. I won't but I've thought about it ????. Why are the cravings for fat so strong!? Ughhhhhhhhhh

It's day 6 for me and I'm also feeling hunger which is disappointing but hey I'll roll with the punches! Tomorrow I start the full liquids diet. Never have I looked forward to runny oatmeal like I am now!!! I miss junk food - I'm not going to lie but the toll it took on my body and life isn't worth it. Now if my cravings would just get in line then I'd be feeling better. ???? Keep at it everyone!!

I have been to heavy to horse back ride - literally too heavy for the horses ????. It's something I want to do with my kids. Also bike riding with my family. Going skiing ( though I'm terrible at it - heavy or not ????) Not being tired all the time. A few days after I started the liver shrinking diet I'm not half as tired already so I've got that one started already! ???? Fitting into the airplane seats more comfortably. -
I'm 4 days post op and I have the largest most painful incision to the right of my belly button. This is where they fed multiple instruments through. Im wearing a binding waist sincher that I got at the hospital and that seems to help.

HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!
chavezmommy replied to IrishGermanRN's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been waking more around the house. We got 18 inches of snow so that makes outdoors out of the question for me. I'm taking gas-ex and it seems to be helping. -

Hi, I had the sleeve on 1/29 in Denver. I'm on day 3 and I've been pretty miserable. The gas pain is awful and I keep getting hiccup like spasms that make me vomit. Anyone have this happen? -

What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
chavezmommy replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I hope they refunded any extra cost paid for the exit row seat. I too have had to ask for an extender and have the armrests dig into my hips - on most airlines unfortunately. I put them up if I can and on most flights people (always the skinny ones) don't want our hips touching and force it down. Have you ever done wall squats? After a flight I was so sore from basically squatting in my seat to keep my hips from touching the people next to mine. I'm like it's not sexual people!!! My hip is touching yours - so what!!!!! So ready for change!!!!!! -
HELLO JANUARY SLEEVERS!

You know how well the medical staff will take care of you since you have been on their side! ???? Let us know how you're doing. PS - HECK YES! I am excited to wear skinny jeans with some cute boots that will zip over my calfs AND have my feet not kill me due to all the extra weight! Top it off with a nice Lacey white flowy shirt. -
What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
chavezmommy replied to bigjoe102's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have to add to my original post. My last straw is avoiding the stairs in my house like the plague because of knee pain. Another straw is on my last flight I had to ask for a belt extender and the flight attendant while nice was not discreet at all. It was embarrassing! The airplane seats are uncomfortable enough as it is. Add100-120 lbs to my 5'11 frame and it's just about unbearable. I haven't been on an amusement ride with my kids ever because even before I had them I couldn't fit. Also realizing that I'm now at my heaviest has convinced me that my decision to do this is a good one. I am 4 lbs away from being as heavy as I was at 8 months pregnant with my first son. Ready for this change! I'm ready to do what I need to do to get and stay healthier! Surgery scheduled for 1/29 ???? -

Hi, Have you had surgery? How are you doing? How's the reflux? -
Is the sleeve safe long term?
chavezmommy replied to Cutechiq10's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I agree, at Kaiser they rarely do bands due to low weight loss and complications. 2 people in my nutrition class were getting bands removed as part of the sleeve procedure. Try another clinic that will make you feel confident in their abilities. 99% of the stories I've read about and have personal friends don't regret the sleeve one bit. -
in the hospital on my birthday waiting to be sleeved
chavezmommy replied to jenjen2781's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my Lord 106 lbs!!!! You rock!!!!!!! This is so inspiring! I was just getting a little down on myself today, thinking why do I have to cut away 80% of my stomach to control my weight/health. How I've failed at this weight loss thing so many times. I'm also thinking what if I die - should I do this?! I'm getting scared! But the odds are on my side and I know in the long run it will be worth it! Deep breaths! -
Yes please!! Maybe we can meet for tea at a Starbucks. I'll message you

Congrats on the start to your new and improved life! ???? my friend also had pain and it got better each day. My husband had rny 9 years ago and had a stitch on his right rib that created a dent and hurt really bad but it got better as time passed and he lost weight. Hang in there!!!
