Yes, Nealy's is one of the great BBQ places in Memphis. The Rendevous and Corky's are really great places too. The Rendevous has dry ribs that are my favorite. I also like their slaw and Beans the best too. At this time they just don't seem compatable with my band. Their ribs are really moist and tender too. :scared2: Were we talking about losing weight earlier?:unsure:Both places have been on tv when they talk about BBQ wars. Hmmmm. Sorry to get carried about eating.:blushing: It will be a delayed gratification for when we are thin and beautiful (not that we aren't beautiful now:thumbup:) Take care. Tina

I try Weight Watchers every once in a while. I started back a couple weeks ago but had trouble getting there again. There are quite a few here in Memphis who go. Just a little more support each week. I like it and will go again soon. It is just a very good program. In the past I would lose but then I would gain it back. Maybe it will work out that you can lose and then get a fill later if you feel you will gain it back. I just think it will work better for me if I can get a working restriction. :blushing: I hope to hear from you soon. Tina

Good luck, Brandy, with Weight Watchers. It is a very good program. I also have been a member since 1976 and a lifetime member since 1981. It is the only program I had any success with. Good luck and keep us posted on how you are doing. :blushing: Tina

Hi Tater. I was banded Feb 8th and have lost 14 lbs. It is discouraging to see other people lose so much and not be losing myself. The extra stress of added health problems must really be zapping you. I well know the feeling of "what difference does it make". You must have had a real scare when you got stuck. I still think you have the ability to do this. It is okay if we start off small. I had my 3rd fill yesterday. I do have the early restriction that comes with a fill. I am so relieved. You might want to have another fill if you feel no restriction. I know you would not have come this far if this was not something you really wanted to work. Don't give up! Keep coming to LBT. I know it helps me. Good luck and let us know how things are going. :blushing:

I think I was very afraid of my first fill. As has already been said, it is a long-term scary commitment. We give over to the band because we have been unable to lose weight and maintain it without help. I think the first fill is reality punching us in the face (can you tell the whole process was a bit traumatic for me :tongue_smilie:). Anyway Ready, I think you don't give up very easily. I just hope you will not beat yourself up over this. As has already been said also, THANK GOODNESS this too shall pass.

Brandy, I am so sorry you are having such a rough time especially when it does seem that everyone else is having great success. Well, I am barely hanging in there. From my first weigh-in to surgery I gained 6 lbs. I lost 12 lbs right after surgery only to gain 5 lbs back. Luckily last fill I had eaten and kept my clothes on because today on my scale I had gained 5 lbs again. I had lost 5 lbs on theirs because it was at 7:30 this morning. I didn't even take a drink of Water before going and off came most everything to weigh.:tongue_smilie: I don't think you are a failure. We all have a food addiction. I can feel really bad but if I have something sweet (especially if I get whipped cream too) it gives so much pleasure for that instant.:frown: Hurting, lonely, angry. It soothes like any drug for that short time. I will hate to loose your presence here if your option will be to leave. I have enjoyed your posts. Mainly I want you to be happy with yourself. You seem such a nice person with a lot to give to others. I hope you will always know you are a good person and what can be better than that? Good luck. I went for my 3rd fill today. He said he gave me only a small fill and to came back in 3 to 4 weeks. It is always a little easier to stop eating after a fill. I don't think this one will be my last.:tongue_smilie: I had lost 5 lbs by their scale so I was happy. He said it was slow and how could they help. Besides another fill I didn't know what to tell him. Anyway, everyone seems to be doing really great. Congratulations everyone on your accomplishments.:thumbup:

My family and I went with my mom and dad to their lakehouse for a long weekend. I really enjoyed getting away with them. I have little restriction now and my mom stopped at this wonderful bakery on the way for cinnamon rolls and sticky buns. Before long my dad was asking (nicely) was the band helping at all and should I be able to eat so many:blushing:. I did get full faster. Before I probably would have eaten more. Today I have an appt with my doc at 7:30 am. Drat! He is going to tell me off and I deserve it. I'm trying to get myself into the frame of mind to find it helpful and not "quiver" when he does it. It's a learning experience. Right? He will give me a fill (hopefully) and I will get my act together (double hopefully:crying:).

Hi Headhunter. I was wondering when you were banded and where and by whom? I was also wondering how long you were banded before you started having trouble.

I am kind of stagnant right now. I am still eating much less than before banding. I see Dr. Woodman Monday morning at 7:30. He will check my port and probably give me another fill. He will also tell me off again for not losing very much. I think I'll take my tape recorder with me to tape what he says. That way when I'm thinking of eating something I can turn on the tape and scare myself out of eating anything.
He can be very intimidating. I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks for asking. Tina

I think another issue we should not forget is the issue of physical abuse. I don't believe anyone has the right to abuse another person. Do you notice it is always done to people who are smaller and more defenseless? The other thought is who of us would choose to be raped and beaten by anyone whatever our religious beliefs? The term "barefoot and pregnant" applies here. My sister's former husband did his best to isolate her and keep her at home. She became so depressed and had such a low self esteem that she could hardly function. Thank goodness he was also bad with jobs. After being in the workplace for a while she realized she didn't have to stay with him.

What actually happens when your band slips? Is nothing but fluids going through the band now? I hope something can be done besides surgery. I know this has to be very discouraging for you. Surgery is not fun. We had a nice croud at the support group tonight. I think there were about 16 people. Tonight the psychologist who did the psychologicals conducted an open support group discussion. I always enjoy learning about how people are doing and the sharing of information. Hi, Sllimstacy31. Wow, you are a veteran. How has your success been? Are you going to any support groups (or even need a support group)? Dr. Woodman's group will meet Tues at 6:00 pm at Baptist East if you need one. I have only been to one so I am interested to see how the next one works out. We had a nice crowd in March. I use to be able to use Equal and Splenda but now it does not seem to agree with me?

It does seem odd that it would have such a severe side effect. When we can't use artificial sweeteners it is so inconvenient. Any yogurt or Protein supplemnt drinks that are low cal have so much in it. Even the flavored protein powders have it. I use the Biochem unflavored whey protein and I can use some sugar and Equal with frozen strawberries and milk or yogurt and it tastes pretty good but is not as convenient as something canned and ready to go. Like you said though, if that is the most invenient thing that is pretty small. Take care.:thumbup: Tina -
I just wanted to let you know I do acupuncture for fibromyalgia. I can go in feeling bad and have a big reduction in pain by the time I leave. I think it is a very good choice to try it. Take care. Tina

The nurse practitioner managed to get some Fluid in thankfully. I have been doing much better. I'm still not at peak but at least I'm not wanting to eat everything in sight. I'm supposed to make an appt for my doc to check out the port so I think I will ask for another small fill. Sounds like I will need a new port if he can't retrieve any fluid. It should be covered by my contract. I hope so since I was self-pay. It should be a quick recovery.:biggrin2: Thanks for asking. Tina

Oops. Ijust read your message. I'm not computer literate so I don't realize how to do things. Most of the time I bumble along. My dh got me a computer after I said I would learn to use it. He didn't realize I would find ebay!
My 2nd fill last Wed has helped. I think if you can go to the surgery center it would be more pleasant. It took forever! to get to the point to go to the operating room. You wouldn't have to wait in the waiting room with many people and go through their very slow intake. I look forward to meeting you.
