  1. Yay July 2015 Sleevers!!!!! I'll hit my year on the 21st, hoping to hit 100 lbs by that date--I'm 5 lbs shy--but still gradually losing about 1 lb a month after month 8, I slowed waaayyyy down. Seems like I'm stuck, but the inches show the truth!! Still the best decision--no regrets!!! Congrats to everyone!!!!

  2. Hi July 2015 sleevers...how have you guys been doing? I'm excited and afraid of this normal feeling I'm having. I haven't had any problems at all, and I'm noticing if I'm not careful, the small cheats turn into more than a one time affair.

Weight has stalled on and off for weeks at a time, after I crossed the 50 mark, but I'm glad to be down 76 lbs. Doc says I'm doing great and no worries, 7 more months of weight loss to go :). Slow it may be, but I like the gradual loss. The best to all of you!

  3. I have a 2 year old and I was sleeved July 21st. You will need help with your little one as far as lifting. My son would climb up and I would hold him that way.

You will feel like you're okay, but just remember your internal organs are healing. I had to remind myself at week 3 not to pick him up. The few times I did, I felt a pulling that was unusual, and was reminded that I wasn't fully healed.

    The best to you :).

  4. Congratulations on beginning your journey.

I was sleeves on July 21 of this year.

I am super grateful for no issues, no food problems, etc. I had my 8 week check today and I am at 40lbs.

Only thing I would do different, is not get discouraged during the early stalls. Mine lasted almost 2 weeks...then suddenly, I started dropping. The big the I didn't notice, etc through my clothes and I needed to realize it, I was still losing inches. So now, I just remind myself, it's going to come off, just be patient!

  5. Thanks for this updated post :) Congrats to all of you my July Pals!! You all are doing great!!!! I was sleeved on July 21st and down 38 lbs. I too, struggle with the Protein. Getting my Water in hasn't been as bad as a problem, because I start my day with Water. Eating isn't an issue either. I return for my appointment next week, so this should be exciting. I do not have an trouble with foods and according to my medical team's instructions, I'm in maintenance.

As I was having joint problems prior to surgery, I hope to be able to walk more and more as the weight drops. I too stalled at week 3 and it lasted until week 5. But no more since. It's been a consistent 2-3 lbs every 6 days or so. I'm excited and happy! I wish i would have measured my inches because most of my clothes are falling off and the inches are definitely noticeable--have no plans to make purchases until I absolutely have too :)

The best to all of you as we continue our journey!

  6. Praise God, I am finally tolerating more. I SUCK at measuring and counting calories...but I do still try my best to reach my daily Protein, even if I have to use a shake. It's amazing what happens in just a few short weeks. I went from struggling to getting 2 ozs in, to eating a small meal, just as they said I would get to.

My plan included soft meats by week 4. That chewing slowing is key...but I've noticed each week, getting meals down has gotten easier and easier...even meats.< /p>

Looking forward to getting all of my Protein from meals!!!

According to my packet of instructions, on this Tuesday at 6 weeks, I will hit maintenance. I'm still losing, but the big drop has moved to about 1-2 lbs a week, which is fine by me. That week 3-4 stall had me down, but glad to see the scale moving. Still so grateful to God for this opportunity to get right and fit after years of trying. This was definitely in His will for my life at this time!

Love this thread!!! My eyes are weary, so I can't read through all of the posts but just a quick encouragement to hang in there and keep pressing!

I'm one month post-op and so thankful for having an amazing recovery with zero problems. God is so faithful! Excited about my future in Him!

Congrats on .. You success.. No complications are always a blessing. How are you tolerated food etc? Keep in touch let us know how you are. We are here for everyone .. Blessings to you.

  7. I think it depends on the person and the opinion of your medical team. I've heard, been told and read repeatedly, no straws.

I will be 6 weeks post-op on Tuesday. I started using straws at week 3 bc I was having trouble sipping slowly. So, I grabbed a straw, first sipping slowly to test the waters. Success. I have not had any problems with a straw--no gas, it doesn't make me drink too fast, or any of the other problems stated, etc.

I'm sure everyone has had a different experience, especially since the NUT and surgeon's opinions vary from person to person. Good luck on the journey!

  8. I'm in Sumter. Sleeved July 21st this year in Columbia. I'm scheduled to meet my support group for the first time in September in Columbia. If you want the details to the practice, let me know...it's a bit of a commute for you tho. I guess florence would be about the same distance, even though I'm not aware any groups in the area, maybe another area to check out.

  9. Hey and congrats on making this step. I was sleeved on July 21st. My psych eval was scheduled after my initial appointment with the surgeon, dietician and finance person(same day). The nurse gave my the information to the psych they used often, and they made the referral for me after that initial visit. He called me the next day and got me on his schedule. Best wishes!

  10. Sleeved on the 3rd of August!! How long did the pain last on your left side...it hurts getting up and down!! But trying to walk as much as possible!!

The pain for me lasted a few days. I stopped pain killers once I got home bc it felt like soreness from doing crunches, and I just pushed thru it. Walking is good, just be careful with that. I hit 4 weeks on Tues coming, and suddenly this week, after NO pain, I'm feeling pain at my largest cut when I move. I've been told it's from healing, but the better I started feeling, the more I started doing. It's still major surgery and I'm beginning to think I may have started doing a little too much. But, I'm sure it depends on each person, the best to you! Hope your pain eases up soon!

  11. I have UHC as well. No problems. Approved on 1st attempt and I have no medical issues on paper other than a BMI > 40 for over 5 years. So my surgeon wrote so nicely that we were trying to avoid medical issues in the future. No appeals, just an easy road. My process was less than 3 months. I got sleeved on July 21, so I haven't seen a bill yet, but we had already met our deductible prior to the surgery. I'm not expecting much of a bill at this point. The best to all of you!

  12. Yeah!! Congrats to the new comers and way to go to all who have started the journey. Sleeved on July 21st--23 lbs down, but at a stall--hope it moves on next week! I'm okay with it tho, because I'm more excited about my break up with food:). I'm mentally ready to see food as substance to live, and not something to over indulge in. Best wishes!
