  1. It is important to be careful about what you eat, but your focus right now should be healing, not losing...........call your dietician, but I think what you had today looks great! Best of luck!
  2. I always have a water bottle with me. There are 1/2 full ones all over my house & car....Not sure what you mean about eating every 1/2 hour though. I am eating like this: cream of wheat or protein shake around 7. Water water water. 1c soup at lunch water water water. Cottage cheese or yogurt around 5 water water water. 1c soup at 7 water water water, and then another protein shake or yogurt before bed.....
  3. I'm no pro but I was surprised when my Dr said liquids only and then handed me a sheet of suggestions including cottage cheese, applesauce, yogurt, pudding, cream of wheat etc so I asked about it. He said basically what your Dr said.....it is a time for your stomach to be taking it easy so the scar tissue can form around the band to help hold it in place. His definition of a liquid is anything that you can eat through a straw (even though he said no straws allowed due to gas). I have had my band since Oct 24th and I still am liquids only but I have protein shakes, the foods listed above and any soup I want. If is chunky, I put it in the bleder with some water or milk to thin it. So far I have been fine.....Good luck to you and welcoem to bandland!

    October Bandsters Date List

Welcome Edazul -- not sure about laying on the tummy. Haven't heard it's not OK. It's about the last thing I feel like doing right now though!!! I really have only been sleeping on my back and I am a confirmed side sleeper so that has been weird. I feel a pull or pressure on my incisions if I lay on my side. Hope you get your answer!

Wow -- I have all kinds of shakes etc. How long are you CLEAR liquids? That's torture! But I bet you've lost -- how could you not? I'm doing better everyday. Went to work for an hour yesterday, it was physically uncomfortable, but I did it. Trick or treating was no prob too. I think when I'm tired things hurt more and I just listen to my body and go to bed for a while -- dishes will be there later  I went to Target today too and that was good -- didn't even hurt moving the bags around etc. I have noticed though that I get the hiccoughs alot -- have you had them?

NJChick and readyand waiting -- haven't heard from you two? How's it going on the liquids? I am desperate for variety and now buy soup from a local shop and then put it in a blender at home. Hinda foamy, but better than canned........have either of you started to lose yet? I have lost almost 10 and can't believe that I don't even want the halloween candy!

    Very depressed

    Good for you!
  8. Hi I'm back from being banded on Monday the 24th. Not much to report yet. Had to stay an extra day in the hospital as my band was too tight to allow the swallow test. Thankfully it was b/c I had been sick to my stomach and my stomach was enlarged. If it was that the band itself was too tight it would have required another surgery to pull some tissue away from the band. Since no other symptoms developed in 24hrs and I tolerated water & CIB, they let me go. Still pretty loopy on pain meds & sleeping alot but I wanted to see if any of my banded pals fromt he 24th are back yet???????? How'd we do kids?

Wow NjChick -- I feel like an invalid next to you. I wouldn't give up my pain med for anything -- I know when it's wearing off and I just dose up again. I am sleeping alot too -- maybe it is from the med, but at least a 2 hr nap a day and all night! I was home alone with my youngest today and had to call a friend to come HELP me! I couldn't keep up with her!!! There is no way on the earth I would pull myself together to go to a mall! We are thinking about taking the kids to a halloween party at the park tomorrow, but if you can believe this, it has been SNOWING here most of the afternoon! You're my role model -- you go girl!

    Very depressed

Margo as many people here have said -- life is too short to go through it depressed. There are so many med choices I can't believe that one of them isn't right for you -- have you tried Effexor? I went on it once and loved the results but discontinued it because I thought it made me sweat. Yeah, like that had nothing to do with unregulated diabetes and being over 100 lbs overweight! I say find a Dr that will work with you until you find the right meds. The time to discontinue antidepressants is not when you are in the middle of a depressive episode. You may be able to wean off them in several months once you have reached more stable grounds, but the wean off should be relatively painless or else why not just continue? I think God gave us pharmaceuticals for a reason................... feel better be strong

NJ CHICK- I am on liquids for 3 WEEKS! But not all clear -- I can have protein shakes and soups (blended). Still would love to have some oatmeal, tuna or cottage cheese, but I am not overly hungry. I think my band is really tight or I still have alot of swelling from surgery. I can feel everything in my pouch eve water remains in there some period of time. I took my bandages off yesterday and really had to gear myself up. I thought it would be gross & hurt but it was neither. There are surgistrips underneath and some of them are stained with blood/leakeage but nothing major or gross and it doesn't feel different to have them uncovered -- jsut a little more vulnerable around the kids! The gas thing is gross I wish I could stick a pin in and let it all out. I am still taking the pain med every 4 hours. I've never had much reaction to percocette, but this liquid is knowcking me on my ass -- I am TIRED! Off to stand by the door to meet the bus -- my big project for the day. Hang in girlfriends!

Wow -- you are doing great! I have a little gas, but I think that everyone means the bloated bubbly feeling in your tummy or shoulders. More from the air they pump into you during the surgery. The fart thing happens too, but I think that is less painful than the upper bubbles. It hasn't bothered me much. My only real pain is the incision right where my tummy is -- port & other 4 have no pain at all it's just the aches and the tummy pain. Wish I could burp but I am afraid of forcing it......Congrats to you you sound like you're up and at 'em!

My kids were so cute, but thank God they are in school during the day -- they are killing me with kindness !! My bed is full of their toys they bring me to make me feel better, and my bedside table is covered with bottles of wter b/c it will make my tummy better. It is at once soooo cute and so bothersome I don't know what to do -- everytime I lay down there the darlings are with something to heal me! They are sooo cute about it, I can't send them away! Just had some veggie broth -- going to sleep for a while before they come home. Glad you pulled through without problems! Keep getting better
  14. :bored Well, I thought I would be enjoying my last weekend before my surgery -- maybe a little "last suppering", wrapping up loose ends for my kids before I head to surgery etc. Instead it is gross, cold, and raining and I am bored/anxious and getting nervous. I was never nervous before now because I know I am doing the right thing. I am so informed, have just completed the best bariatric program, and have tons of support. But all of a sudden I have cold feet. While not looking forward to the physical part of surgery, most of my worry involves after the surgery. What if I break the rules? What if I don't loose? What if I have a ton of complications? All of a sudden I need a pep talk......I am still excited but I just didn't expect to feel this much anxiety...........

Just got my insurance approval -- did my pre-op Monday....next stop bandland! Just 4 more days!! I'm getting nervous with all the bad press lately for WLS, but my surgeon is very experienced and does exclusively RNY and bands.
