fit2cmygirlsgrow got a reaction from Daisee68 in My Dr said I could move past clear liquids week2 but NUT said No
@@Daisee68 Thanks so much for the pep talk. I've eaten a few Popsicles with no problems and a 1/2 of Jello. You're so right that I've come this far so I can hang in there another few days.

I don't know which surgery you had so I can't tell you what to do. However, for me and in my information, I had gastric bypass and was on pureed foods pretty quickly--probably before 7 days. In fact, I seem to recall that as soon as I got out of the hospital I was on pureed foods but I might be remembering wrong. I'm not sure what I would do. I'm really surprised taht you can't have a popsicle since that was considered clear liquid.

I had bypass and my surgeon was out of town at first follow up so I saw her partner and she said I had to wait until day 15 to have pureed. Seems every doctor is different and it could be due to your individual circumstances. I think I would err on the side of caution and stick with liquids for another week if you can stand it. it won't hurt as long as you are getting in your Protein. I know that last week is tough. You might look at your booklet again and see if there are any more suggestions of what you can have this last week. Cream Soups? Yogurt? I had popsicles - a lot of them. The cold didn't bother me (luckily). I also (and don't judge me here) had pickle juice. It was great! I wanted the salt and it really helped plus it is used for hydration by some athletes, so I figured hydration couldn't be bad. Not much of it and not all day but it was a good salty taste for a break from the sweetness. Good luck! Hang in there. You are almost there!

I was under a while too. I now take Miralax in 4 oz of Water daily and I've had no issues. It took me 5 days to have one.

@@Djmohr thanks. Good idea to also ask about the suppository. Glad to hear it can take a while for the first BM. This has been a pretty good recovery for me so far. Hope I continue to do as well going forward.

While we are all trying to help each other here it is always best to follow medication and nutritional recommendations from a medical professional you knows you and your medical history. Each doctor has different recommendations. You have put your faith in this person and their team to help you succeed through this process. I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to be on the medical side of things and have patients picking and choosing what instructions to abide by and telling us what they read online. Often you can find what you want to hear online and it becomes easier to accept that than your doctor's directions. The doctors don't make stuff up for their own amusement, they are trained and experienced and we turn to them for their professional advice and wisdom. Bariatric Pal is a great place for support and practical advice but not a credible medical resource.

fit2cmygirlsgrow got a reaction from Niki15 in Pre-Op Liquid Diet
Someone suggested making your own broth (if you can have broth on your pre-op diet). I made my own last night and it's pretty yummy. Just watch the sodium in your spices. Much better than the bought stuff. My broth and sugar-free fudgesickles are getting me through. I also like my sugar-free chocolate Jello puddings. I add my unflavored Protein to my fat free Greek yogurt also. Taste better that way than in drinks. I also bought the ketone strips so I could tell if I were in ketosis. I love the sugar-free chocolate muscle milk 100 Val's version.

@@Luvnme4eva the social events are tough. I just had an out of town party. Did good with not hitting the buffet at the party and I'm fine with no alcohol. dinner with a big group was another story. I ended up eating salad. :-(. Then ran on the treadmill at the hotel gym because I felt so bad about it. You can do it. Keep your Protein Drinks and Water and those Snacks allowed on your pre-op diet within reach during the reunion.

@@changingme5 I ordered the Unjury broth flavored Protein. It taste just ok. Don't think I'll order anymore though. I just Water down the Lipton onion Soup mix so I'm not getting all the sodium in a normal serving.
