  1. I have been lucky and every single person that knows has been supportive. Her being morbidly obese with really high blood pressure is just a stroke or heart attack waiting to happen. How can she do that to her family???? At least having surgery gives you a chance at a long healthy life. I can't stand rude a$$ people. She needs to keep her mouth shut. You will be so happy when it is all said and done
  2. I actually got to schedule surgery before my approval. They do the paperwork for insurance so much they knew I had done everything necessary. I was approved in a matter of days. However, I called everyday to check. Had I waited on a letter in the snail mail, I would have waited three weeks to find out. Give it a few days then start calling. I have Aetna and actually used the chat feature online.
  3. I started my bariatric vitamins a month before surgery. Start walking or working out. The better shape your body is in the easier your surgery. Start "practicing" eating more protein and eating your protein first in your meals. Also, start practicing not drinking right before and during your meals. Practice eating tiny bites and chewing 25 times. Good luck to you!!!!!
  4. I agree with everything already said. I will just throw this in. I was diagnosed as diabetic in June. Had the sleeve in November. In late January, my A1C had dropped to a number where I was not considered diabetic anymore. The sleeve is so very good for your health.
  5. That is great!!!! You can lose that for sure! I am so sorry to hear about your struggles. When it rains it pours!!! Hang in there, things have to get better!!!!!

Loosing a lot of my hair

I have had 6 surgeries throughout my life, a small one for a breast lump, three knee ones, two c sections. I have never lost a strand of hair until this surgery. My most major ones besides c sections (21 years ago) was a partial knee replacement.

    Call me crazy

Wow!! Just wow!!! Kick its ass and take its name!!!!
  8. i also had the same concerns. my biggest fear was feeling nauseated. i did not want to deal with that. i have no9t been nauseated one single time. i have had a very easy ride. my surgery was nov., 17. i have felt great for the most part. once i was dehydrated and felt bad. i wasnt aware that losing hair could happen until i read about on here. i started losing haair about a month ago. i always thought if i started losing hair i would die. just die. i am dealing with it and not stressing. it will grow back. before surgery i had to make myself NOT eat. now, i have to make myself eat. i get hungry but have to get my Protein. it is actually pretty darn easy for me and i was addicted to coke and sugar and carbs. the pre op liquid diet for me was not fun. i survived it and it wasnt as bad as i dreaded. would i do this again? hell ya!!!!

    Self sabatoge

Thank you so much @@VSGAnn2014!!!!! I was telling a friend today, who is considering the sleeve, that I no longer find 'fun' in eating. I am very happy about that. I used to look forward to eating ice cream or whatever it was that I wanted. I ate for emotional reasons as well as enjoying food. Food was a hobby. I am only a little over three months post op, and I do not know if it is a mindset, my hard headedness, or what, but food is no longer fun. I eat to get my nutrients. I choose what I eat to meet my Protein goal of 100 g a day. Yes, I still go out to eat with friends and family, and I very much enjoy doing that, enjoy the company, but I am not foaming at the mouth for food. I order my meal, eat my protein first, and if I am still hungry, have vegetables. To answer your question, yes, before my pre op diet, I did think that I should and could eat while I could. I did not go nuts, however, but did not get strict at all. I knew I was going to be on a 2 week liquid pre op diet, so I was not very strict with my eating. However, knowing what was coming up for me, part of me wanted to start doing better now, and I did somewhat, but I still let myself eat things I should have been cutting out. Was it the end of the world? No. Surgery went great and everything has gone smoothly for me and I am losing

@@VSGAnn2014 you freaking rock my world!!!!!!!! I love how you always just put it out there. You reached goal at 8.5 months..... Very impressive. Question for you..... During those months did you ever let yourself have a special treat? Did you stick to the plan 100%? did you work out? What amount of carbs did you have?

Loosing a lot of my hair

I am 14 weeks out and having been losing hair for a month. It is getting worse. Ugh. I have been using viviscal vitamins for three weeks so far, it hasn't helped. I have been on an iron supplement all along. I think it is just gonna fall out. Not really stressing. I know it will stop..... Eventually. Worst case scenario I had to get wigs!!!!!! That could be kinda fun until it grows back!!!
  15. Are you drinking ready to drink protein drinks? My doc said those are hard to tolerate to many. I suggest powders. I use max pro from max muscle. Syntrax is really good. Try flavored isopure protein drinks. Vitamin shoppe has them as does max muscle. Duh....... I'm sorry. Just re read your title.
  16. 14 weeks post op personal message me. I am on about every day. Good luck!!!!!!!!
  17. I was on clear liquid diet two weeks post op. Isopure drinks come in lots of flavor and have lots of protein. I liked grape. The vitamin shoppe has them. Get your water in. Or G2. You #1 priority is to stay hydrated.
  18. Bra? Was I supposed to wear a bra Hahahaha. I stayed in bed mostly and slept and watched tv. The back of my bed raises to a sitting position. I was pajamas for several days just because. You need a place to sit your water and pain meds. I felt great and didn't need anything else. Depending on what you can have right after surgery is what you should have. I was on clear liquids for two weeks. It went fast. Sugar free Popsicles, broth, water, isopure clear protein drinks.
  19. You are there! Congrats! It will go fast !!!!!! Yippee!!! Sugar free Popsicles!!!

  24. Your doc should know what to write. In my opinion they should have been in contact with insurance for clarity, especially second time.
