  1. I am only 2 weeks out but I can say each day gets a little better. Looking back it wasn't that bad. Now during that first week I was a mess I think it was hormones.
  2. Could anyone give me an update as to their personal turn around time for approval with anthem these days? I have a friend who has been pre approved and will have her last of the 12 month doctors appointments for supervised weight loss on September 21st and needs surgery as early as possible in October. Thanks for any input!

    Gastric bypass

wow what an inspiration! You look fabulous.
  4. I have D cup under the muscle implants and have never experienced any back pain from them at all. Not to sound gross but I think it's because they "sit there" rather then "hang there" so they aren't pulling on your back.
  5. I hear you! I had so much pain and thought I was going to lose my mind. Come to find out I had an infection deep inside the largest incision. I kept thinking I was just not able to handle the pain like I had expected. Don't be embarrassed to speak up about being in pain. There's no right or wrong. Everyone is different. I cried for about 5 days straight. Especially when it came to having the open incision packed everyday. I cried my eyes out to my husband and said I can't do this I just can't do it. He reminded me that I really had no choice at this point and it would get better. I'm now 2 1/2 weeks out and it's finally getting better. I'm still not losing like a lot of people but I think my body is working on healing and the weight loss will have to come at some point. Good luck and hang in there. It's tough. Much harder then I ever expected it to be for sure but you will wake up one day and feel quite a bit better ????

    UTI after gastric bypass

Great post as I feel this coming on.
  8. Good evening friends. I had RNY on 9/22. Everything went well. I will say I am way more sore then I expected. I thought I was pretty tough but this surgery has changed my mind. My question is in regards to a hard swollen area under the largest incision. I believe the one they took the tools in and out though. It hasn't been a week yet but this is the only spot the truly HURTS and has from the moment I woke up in recovery. Has anyone else experienced this? Please tell me this goes away soon.

    New and Alone.

Oh my I feel so bad for you reading your post. I had surgery on the 22nd and have a surgery site infection and thought I was struggling until reading this. I think the surgery is so emotional to start with and then to end up with complications is so disheartening. I know I have cried the past two days and can't even explain why I am crying. Are you feeling any relief yet? I know I am frustrated because I can even focus on following the Protein and liquid requirements because I feel so bad and depressed. I try to tell myself that this shall pass. Please know you have a family here! Feel free to message me if you want to vent or need a friend. Best wishes. Keep us posted.
  10. This happened after my gallbladder surgery. It was a form of MRSA. I have a big ugly scar and bulge there still 2 years later.I am so sorry to hear that. It just sucks doesn't it. I heard it will be a very wide scar . It's not like I plan to wear a bikini at this point in my life so I guess it is what it is. I just wish there was some way to numb it before the packing process.
  11. Karen please let us know how your appointment goes. I didn't expect them to say infection because I didn't have a fever but the site was very hot to the touch. Good luck my friend!
  12. I am supposed to be unpacking and packing it myself but I keep begging the nurse at the office to let me come in and her handle it. There's a reason I am a banker and not in the medical field lol. I think the incision did look a little better today. Hopefully it will improve each day. I just really want this to be over with.
  13. Lol yes it made me cry as they were doing it.

    Anthem denied

I would guess her BMI is around 42 or 43 because she is short. She has multiple comorbidities (high blood pressure, pre diabetic and such). She has met with a doctor monthly for the last 12 months.
  15. I met with the surgeon this morning. There was infection under that incision. Let's just say it was not a fun process but he removed the stitches and drained a LOT of Fluid packed the wound and I return each day this week to be re-packed. He also prescribed some augmentin twice a day. The surgeon was so sorry it happen. He said I was only his 3rd patient with infection in 15 years... Go figure. After discussing it with my family to make sure my memory was correct I never reviewed an IV antibiotic prior to surgery. Live and learn. I'm not upset. Just happy to be on the road to recovery.
  16. Hi India928. Yes sleeping on my back has SUCKED lol. I'm glad to here you're doing well. I hope to look back on all this next month and think it was well worth it! How are you doing on getting your fluids in? Any tips and tricks. I seem to be struggling.
  17. Well wishes to everyone else having surgery tomorrow! I am super excited to be wheeled down that hallway and into OR. Ready to start this journey with the help of my amazing tool. Thank you everyone who has posted and helped answer questions along the way.

    September 22nd

Hi there. It's been ok. I will say I am in more pain then I expected. I have had a few surgery a before and thought I knew what to expect HAHA. I honestly only have pain from the main incision site now. The leaking from where the drain was has stopped so that's good. I would read before surgery about people complaining how hard it is to drink well they are right. It's really hard to get in all the liquids for sure.

That's everyone. They do wake you up to walk every two hours. My swallow test went really well so I have had Jello and broth.

    September 22nd

I can now finally say I am on the losers bench! Surgery went great. The waking up in the recovery room not so much. The drain has caused quite a bit of pain. I have managed to get about 2 hours sleep in between all the walking. I hope other 22nd peeps are recovering nicely!

    Water bottles

I love the Tervis sports bottle. They have the handy lid you can carry them by, they can fall over in your bag and won't leak.
