  1. I am 11 months out from my gastric bypass. I thought it would be nice to have some raw carrots as a snack. They seemed to go down just fine, but I have spent the last 24 hours unable to keep anything down. It felt like a brick was stuck in my stomach. I am finally better, but I wanted to warn other folks about how indigestible raw carrots are when you eat too many of them. I've dropped 3 pounds in 24 hours thanks to those suckers. I have learned my lesson.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a different raw vegetable?

I made this mistake Spring Break while sitting on the beach. I ate almost an entire little packet of raw carrots. I honestly didn't know if I was going to make it up to my room to go to the bathroom. It was so painful. I haven't ate a carrot since. I'm scared lol.

  2. Comparing yourself with others can be playing head games. I started out at about 215 (the surgery was the best method to fix my extreme and I do mean extreme reflux) at 5 months I was down to 170. I'm now just past 6 months and at 164. The doctor says I will lose about another 10-15 and then after a year gain about 5-10 back.

I have been a slow loser and it would blow my mind to see how quickly some people lose. I try to tell my focus that everyone is on their own journey but that doesn't always help haha. Good luck.

  3. I wish I had never tested the sugar issue either. I can say I am about 7 months out and I can safely eat 1 pop tart or 1 cookie. Sugary drinks give me a horrible headache but as a rule the only thing I notice with sugar is a bit of gas. I will admit I still don't eat anything sweet out in public. I think the amount and type of sugar can play a big roll so I don't chance it when I am out and about.

  4. I only told my husband, my sister and 2 close friends. I didn't want my parents to worry and I also didn't want their opinion. The reasons surrounding my surgery were something I had to work through on my own and I didn't need to here others opinions.

Someone I know from the bariatric support group at my doctors office came into my work and announced to his friend that I had surgery and how great I looked. I was devastated. I gave him the look of death. I'm sure over time people will find out but until I am ready to deal with it I feel it's my story to tell.

The surgery puts you on an emotional roller coaster. Don't give yourself added stress.

  5. @@sarahbethemails You might want to try this - Protein2o Water, (like H2o). You can go to their website drinkprotein2o and put in your zip code to find which stores carry it in your area. For 70 calories it packs 15g of Protein in just one 16 oz. bottle! Comes in 4 delicious flavors. It helps me continue to get in my 100+ grams per day at almost 6 months post-op :D

I can't stomach Isopure but this stuff isn't bad, and it's half the cost of isopure!

  6. Hi there. We had surgery a day apart and our before weight and current weight are really close too.

Some days are worse for me and other days I feel like I've got this under control. I try to look at its not that I can never eat these things again. At some point I hope to be able to eat small bites of lots of my favorite things. With a stomach our size we can't eat much anyway.

My surgeon doesn't allow any "food" until 6 weeks out so I am still on cream of wheat, Protein shakes, eggs and instant mashed potatoes. I think once I can have some things that have more taste and texture it won't be so bad.

    Hang in there :)

  7. Hi everyone. I know there is some debate over Pro Yo frozen yogurt with Protein and if it is the right source of protein for us however I am struggling to get my protein in. It seems like some protein is better then none at all.

Does anyone know of a place I can order this and have it shipped? I checked the website for a list of places that carry it and can't find anything in Indiana.

    Thanks!
