  1. When you say you were cleared for a date, does that mean you received your insurance approval? I ask, because I was originally approved by insurance and got a date for January, but I had an opportunity to go to China in February with work, and knew I was risking NOT ever getting the surgery if I walked, which I did. Actually went to china 3 times between February and May. But I was back to lying in bed at night, wondering about my health, my aches/pains, feeling lousy and started regretted that I didn't go through with it in January. I called my doctor back and asked how long my insurance approval was good for. They said they'll call BCBS. She calls me back at a random time and said, they need to approve again, but it would depend on how I answered some questions and had to give my current weight (I did weigh less than I did in January). I must have answered correctly and I was approved again. That was June, but I had work commitments until early August. I scheduled my surgery August 10th. So happy now. Don't put it off, you'll regret not going for it now, especially if insurance has approved it.

Phase 4 - Cleared for Vegetables.

Thanks all! Just sauteed up some onions and tomato to try again a 2 ounce beef slider. No go on the beef, as hard as I tried, I'd be surprised if I got an ounce down. ugh, my diet is so boring and what if I didn't supplement with those premier Proteins, I'd never get my requirement in. I did enjoy shopping this morning, and did buy a little but an array of vegetables. And tonight I'm going out for fish!!!

Yes change daily. Actually leave on 8 hours, although my NUT said 12. I put multi on my shoulder late afternoon, early evening. sleep with it. After my morning shower, put my b12 somewhere hidden, hip. Butt, back shoulder under blouse. After work remove it. The other day I was confused I had two on in the evening. ???? What happens in Vegas stays in vegas, lol. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

Where do I put my scale ?

I was weighing every few days, hated that 3rd week stall. Was on travel for work Monday to monday, half of which was in Vegas, so lots of walking. No scale. Imagine my excitement yesterday when I weighed 5 pounds lighter. I'm 7 weeks out Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  6. I bought so many thing in prep that I just didn't use. Grrrrr. And I bought biotene spray, pricey. But the hospital provided these yummy lollipop type sticks that I can only imagine were so much tastier. Never used that biotene. I have yet to use mio or the at least 8 types of Proteins. I like, do t li e. Premiere Protein but like it's 30 grams. Once I can eat more protein maybe I will try more of my inventory. Yes, buy genpro. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

    Vitamin patch

Love them and they are so easy. 7 weeks out so no test results yet but others report excellent. My NUT reports their patients have good results so they now allow us to use now that there is some history. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

    Puree

I only pureed a few days before I was over it. I am able to really shred tuna and chicken and then I also cut into tiny pieces and chew chew chew until food becomes liquid.

    genepro vs isopure

GENEPRO has no taste and mixes well with hot and cold, just make sure the hot isn't too hot. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  10. You can mix GENEPRO into your food also Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  11. We purchase the tix4tonight mirage buffet coupon, $22.50. I can deal with that even if I only eat 4 ounces. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  12. Sleeved Aug 10, so whats that, eight or nine weeks ago. Absoutely no issues because I've been following the plan regarding to eating slow and stopping when I feel full. I have never ever felt nauseous or upchucked, which I believe is a blessing. My diet is extremely restrictive from what i read here for others. I'm basically allowed Protein, no veggies, no fruits and God forbid any carbs. I'm supposedly on soft, I rarely use a blender, I mush things up in my mouth. I'm sort of pickey eater, never liked cottage cheese and hate greek yogurt. I've had a challenging 2nd month with two fancy weddings and a vegas trip which I'm still on. My cheats have been twice I had regular light and fit strawberry yogurt, once I took a vegetable foo young and carefully sliced the fried top and bottom off, and last night for my daughters birthday, I had an ounce of really delicious red wine. Other cheats, I took a piece of cantaloupe with my egg yesterday, I also had to buy a grocery chicken salad in a pinch which had onions and had no issues. While I get my protein in, usally with the help of a Premier shake daily and genpro in my morning coffee, I eat pretty much the same thing. An egg or sometimes two for Breakfast, turkey and cheese roll up and chicken. Lord, is it getting boring. When home I'll cook up the ricotta bake. I know there are so many recipes out there and I promise to try more during October when I'll be able to cook at home each day. My daughter is pushing me to eat at a buffet tonight before we see our Cirque show. ugh. Although I can probably pick a nice piece of seafood from the buffet I'll be paying $60 for. lol I actually sat with her with a glass of Water at one buffet and it didn't phase me in the least, although sometimes, I am definitely hungry and my stomach lets me know. Bottom line, I have no regrets, this is more just a vent. Too bad I'm not into cooking anymore (I'm 62). the traveling is just a little difficult. I had no issues bringing my turkey rolls ups onto the plane. I had put some ice cubes in a ziplock to keep it cold for my 8 hour flights.
  13. The soup will be a cheat as not allowed but I think I agree those are good choices. I cannot seem to get more than a couple of ounces in before I need to stop. I'm looking forward to my NUT appt Thursday. Hoping since I'm doing well, she will approve me for soup and to introduce occasional vegetables and or fruit. 14. I was wondering if anyone else is using an abdominal binder after surgery. I never saw anyone post anything about a binder. I bought one just in case and when I do my walking I put it on and it seems to help plus I don't have to hold my belly or press in with a pillow. I'm just 4 days post op. I still have quite a painful area on the left/middle side of my tummy. It may be gas, or it may be the incision which is very tender. I don't know if I can say which. I'm really able to pull myself out of my recliner, sit up, etc. the first two days, no way.
  15. I was restricted to no more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks. I'm six weeks and was lifting a carry on bag to the overhead this week, easily 25 lbs Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

  17. Isn't the oral appliances e removable. You don't need a cap machine to qualify for surgery only the diagnosis from the dr thst u have sleep apnea. I also have diagnosed mild sleep apnea. And you will likely be cured once you lose weight. My daughter says I rarely snore anymore and I'm only 6 weeks out Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

How have your taste buds changed?

I don't think so. But I can't say I'm enjoying any food right now. Six weeks out. Taking little bites of whatever and chewing until it's liquid is sort of gross and so things taste differently based on consistency. I enjoy my ricotta bake and a couple of slices of liverwurst every few days. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  19. I had mine out but had gallstones and flare ups for a couple of years. My doctor the morning of surgery searched my chart at the end of my bed to make sure my tests showed the gallstones. I don't know of any credible doctor who would remove a healthy functioning organ based on just a patients request. If you think you have them get an ultrasound Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App

How Long Should I Take Off From Work?

A lot of doctors, if you need a note, will only give them 2 weeks at a time. It's a cover your ass. It doesn't look good to them as surgeons if you need excessive time off. As I too had a lot of leave accumulated. So in the end I just took 2 1/2 weeks off. Glad it wasn't longer. I was bored out of my mind after a week. I have no kids at home. But it is much easier following your plan in your own kitchen. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  21. I had asked this same question a couple of weeks back, too bad threads disappear so quickly here. I have yet to slime or vomit, so definitely keep nibbling at first. I did that. For me, going slow, I just had that feeling that said, if you take one more bite you are going to hurl, so I didn't. I've been eating soft foods for three weeks now and feel I should get more Protein in during one sitting, so I try and take a 10 minute break half way thru what I am trying to eat. Its just a feeling in your chest that you've had enough. I can only eat one egg with some cheese. My NUT limits me to one egg a day. I've only the past couple of days been able to eat about 2 ounces of shredded chicken. Just be very careful your first week to avoid sliming and vomiting.
  22. I too had the sleeve and my gallbladder removed at the same time. I'm sorry you are having a difficult time, but seriously, now isn't the time to be money pinching, when RTD shakes are going to keep you alive and healthy. Sip, sip, sip. And make sure you intake Water, tea, mix our water with crystal light or other flavors to make it easy to go down... But you cannot just say you can't do it, or can't afford it. You MUST!!! You won't be on shakes for long. Once you can tolerate food, and you have been cleared, you can get your Protein in. Many of us, continue to use shakes as it is an easy way to meet the daily goal. Premiere shakes are good, most of us tolerate those. Buy some GENEPRO. Its expensive, but you can mix it with just about anything and it has no taste. I way overbought in preparation and now find, that I have found my favorite flavor, its hard to use the other products I bought. oh well. I will continue to do, especially in this crucial beginning period, to drink and eat, what agrees with me best.

    Sandwich Wraps

I'm not allowed lettuce yet either. I think thst is way far away. Ham didn't agree with me when I tried last week. I like the sound of mini meatloaf. Although ground beef, or any beef not working for me yet either. I'm living on chicken, tuna, and ricotta. And shakes of course. Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App
  24. I'm going to follow this, as these are the two exact surgeries, I'm expecting to do in about a year out. Please continue to post how it goes @@ramsmommy Is insurance covering any of this for you?
