  1. Hello there, I still have times when I do not feel like eating as well. I try to at least get a little bit of protein in when I feel like that. The first 6 weeks were probably the most difficult for me as I had no appetite what so ever! I actually found a great book on Amazon that I downloaded to my Kindle for like $4. that has some great recipes. I am actually really enjoying the variations. It's called "Chef Dave's Recipes for Weight Loss Surgery Success." I highly recommend it. There are several ideas for each phase. Especially the stage you're in there are a lot the utilize protien supplments and others that are just regular foods. Each recipe shows nutritional value as well.

    Realistic expectations

The scale can become soooooo addictive! Don't forget about inches, especially when you hit plateaus

    Kill the scale!

Oh I hate my scale as well!! It was my best friend my first month post op but since then my arch enemy. I lost drastically that first month and was really in a great mindset. Once I was released to exercise vigorously again, I hit a plateau. FINALLY the scale moved a bit since the beginning of June. I can definately tell I've lost inches but the muscle I'm buidling is not helping the scale or my frame of mind! When you're in a funk about the scale, always look at the inches and how your clothes feel.

    Plateauing and Frustrated!

Thanks for the input. I will give it a try
  8. Hi there! I am 10 weeks post op. I had my surgery on May 1, 2015 and quickly lost 37 lbs in that first month. Since the beginning of June I have lost maybe 5 lbs. I'm getting really frustrated as I am following my diet by the book, exercising like it's my 2nd job and not seeing the scale move! I understand that muscle weighs more but I am hoping that others have been in this situation and have some advice.
  9. When was your surgery? Mine was 5-1-15
  10. I am 10 weeks out and that still happens to me with chicken and turkey. Wish there was a simple solution! I'm sick of vomiting.????

6 weeks out and not losing weight

I can relate. My surgery was may 1st and I lost 37 lbs the first month and I slowed way down. My doc said it's probably muscle. I do notice inches going. I've dropped 2 sizes since may 1st but probably have only lost 5-10 lbs since beginning of june. Stick in there and don't forget inches! They make a big difference too!
  12. I was off for 4 weeks but really could have used an additional week to week and a half. I ended up having to have my drain in for an additional week and that really postponed my overall heaing initially. If you have the chance, I would take at least 4 weeks. You will be surprised at how tired you are once you return to a full day of work!

    Small Plateau Blues

Hi there! I am new to this as well and one of the main reasons that I joined was because of my plateau. My gastric bypass surgery was 5/1/15 and I quickly lost 37 lbs that first month. SInce the beginning of June, I've only lost about 5 lbs and I'm very frustrated. I keep telling myself that muscle weighs more and that's part of the reason I'm kind of stuck. I have put exercise into high gear, I go to Zumba, Zumba Toning, spinning and then walk on the off days. One other thing that I'm now starting to really watch is my carbs. Beans are a great source of Protein and something that I found I can tolerate but I am wondering if maybe my carbs are too much. Going to try and switch things up a bit. My surgeon doesn't want me on protein supplements anymore so it's going to be a challenge! Good luck and I hope your plateau does not last much longer. We need to see the scale moving in the right direction!!

I just joined this support group and you guys are such a great insipration! I started at 338 pre surgery and was down to 309 the day of surgery, 5/1/15. I'm getting frustrated since I have been at a plateau for a little over a month but I'm down to 260-262. I would LOVE to lose another 100 lbs but right now I just want to get over this hump! This really helps me to see that there are others in the same boat and are doing great!!

    Food Serving Size

I'm about 10 weeks out from gastric bypass and I have wondered the same thing. For me it seems to depend on the food. I can eat close to half a cup of soup but when it comes to meat (chicken, turkey, beef) I can only handle about 2 oz. The liquidy foods are much better for me to handle. I am also concerned at the same time about stretching my pouch. I don't know much is too much at times.
