Myfitnesspal - although it does have a few things I don't like ie you can't set your calories at less at 1,200 per day, which isn't very helpful if you are on the pre-op diet. If anyone can recommend a better one I would be interested

I got my date yesterday and it is 25 August! I am in the UK and usually stick to the UK part of the forum but very happy to be added as a friend, so we can keep in touch.

I'm delighted to say I have a date for my sleeve operation - it's 25 August. I would have liked it to be sooner as this date will be a bit difficult with regard to care for my granddaughter and help and support for me, but I do want to get things under way.
From everything I have read on this forum I have no doubts I am making the right decision!

-- your surgeon said 1 in 200 can go wrong, but maybe ask him how many times he's had that issue personally?
I did ask the nurse this question when I saw her and she said only one person had ever had complications, so that's very reassuring!

All looks interesting but when I clicked on your website it takes me to a blank page

Me to! I had my initial appointment last week and don't have a date yet but feel I want to do everything I can to make the operation easier and improve my recovery rate.
Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Thought I would write a quick update as I had my first appointment with the surgeon this afternoon. I'm a little disappointed as I neither have a date or a definite price. A hospital from the same group offer the procedure for £2,000 less, but they are a two hour drive away. Of course, I would rather have the operation nearer to home but it is a big difference in price. Has anyone else experienced this?
The surgeon also pointed out that one in two hundred operations go wrong, with the stitches breaking down, resulting in a stay of several weeks in hospital. Would be interested to hear if this has happened to anyone on here. Maybe I shouldn't ask, as I'm determined to go ahead with it regardless.

Hi C2CFOREVER I hope every thing is going well - would love to have an update when you are feeling ok. In the meantime get plenty of rest and let everyone spoil you!

Can I ask what you are having for your pre-op diet? I know I am getting ahead of myself, as I don't even have a date yet, but I do like to be prepared!

Hi C2CFOREVER I hope everything went well yesterday and you are on your way to a speedy recovery - thinking of you!

Wow able2cope you are doing great! I'm happy if I lose a couple of pounds, but then I put it on again!

I don't consider myself to be a complete idiot when it comes to the internet etc but this forum is really difficult to use. Kate I'll add you as a friend and maybe we can meet 'on the other side'!

I went the NHS route and was told it would be 2 - 3 year weight. So I opted to go private and have my surgery on 23/07.
There is a UK group here. It would be really good if a few of us could start using it to keep in touch and sort out the whats, wheres and why's in the UK. However the forums are great no matter which ones you use. Please add me as a friend if you want to keep tabs !!

Hi,I was NHS - but you are right - I had to wait 6 years, from when I first went to my own GP to the actual op..patience is a virtue as they say...Hope you don't have to wait as long - I'm in Grampian Scotland region[/quote
I definitely can't wait that long. I've got an appointment to discuss self funding, as now I've made the decision I don't want to hang around.
I'm in my early 60s and feel if I don't do it now it will be too late. When did you have your sleeve fitted? Is it going ok?

Hello. I am planned to self fund and have a date of 22/8/15 for surgery. I live in Surrey. First time I have put anything on this site as I find it a little confusing as would prefer discussions just with UK members.
regards,
Definitely a confusing forum! I've read a lot of posts but a lot of them aren't really relevant as they refer to US insurance plans etc. I think I'll probably end up self funding. Can I ask how long it will be between your first appointment and the date you have for your op?

I've just joined and don't, as yet, have a date for my sleeve but have realised with the NHS it may be some time away. I was just wondering if many people here have, or intend to, pay for their sleeve op. Look forward to replies!

I've just joined the forum and hope to get a date for my sleeve sorted on Friday. I really look forward to following your progress. Wishing you well for today and the coming weeks!

I'm not nervous but maybe that will come later. I'm just really excited to have made the decision. Where are you having your op? Have you been given a pre-op diet yet? This is a journey I am really looking forward to!
