  1. Well, I had a breast reduction at 19, and just had my sleeve last week at 32, so not exactly close together, lol.. I would DEFINITELY reverse your planned order. As you lose weight, your breasts will change. You may end up not needing a reduction, but only a lift. Can I ask why you want the reduction first? If you are going through insurance, they may be required to take a certain percentage out, and then by the time you are done with your weight loss, you may end much smaller than you want. Unless you have a specific reason for doing them in that order, and that close together, I would: 1. Have the sleeve first 2. Get to and maintain your goal weight for a while 3. Get the reduction/lift if you still need and want it. Doing them so close together is going to put a lot of strain on your body. You need time to heal. Make sure BOTH surgeons know what your plans are.

    Protein Shakes

I was told I could have milk instead of protein drinks. Not as much protein, but better than nothing. Fair life skim milk has a good amount of protein compared to most milk.
  3. You take gas-x just for rumbling, even with no gas pain?
  4. I didn't go for 2 or 3 days pre-op, so by 3 days post-op, my abdominal has pain was horrendous (couldn't even pass gas). Mirilax takes time, and I needed faster relief. I took 3 oz of milk of magnesia before bed. At 6:30 am, I woke up, and let's just say I was all cleared up quickly. I was nauseous and uncomfortable when I woke up, but I think that's true for most laxatives, and it went away once it was all done "going."
  5. Not always, but sometimes it's crazy loud! I'm 5 days post op. Also in no pain, having a smooth recovery, but it's funny when the room is quiet and my stomach is like, "hey everyone, listen to me!!"

    Depression and weight

It's not just about being fat. I'm so sorry about your marriage.. Whatever happens, lonely and HEALTHY is so much better than lonely and unhealthy, every day of the week. Take care of yourself, value yourself, and whatever else happens, you'll be in a better place than if you don't.

    Cottage cheese ?

Wow, you need to call your surgeons office right away! I can't believe they gave you no post-op nutritional information. There has to be someone you can talk to. Lots of plans don't allow it by day 9, but the ones they do, come with specific instructions, and you don't have those. Be careful eating something because someone else said they can have it, because they may have special rules about eating it. For example, I can have cottage cheese, but I'm allowed 3 mini meals of soft Protein, 1-2 oz max per day, spaced out and with Protein drinks. That piece is important... I can't just have it, however, whenever I wanted.

    Cottage cheese ?

I'm on it since day three as well, in small amounts.

    Depression and weight

I could have written this post word for word! I was just sleeved, so I can say how I'll feel down the road, but I've been successfully medicated for depression for years. Maybe I'll be able to decrease my dose some, but I suspect I'll always need pharmaceutical help, and I'm ok with that. I think feeling better about myself will help, but it won't take away the chemical imbalance in my brain.
  10. Hope all the other 8/31 sleevers are doing great!!

    Calcium

I bought some Bariatric Advantage chews, but bought 250 mg by mistake. No way I'm eating six of those per day. So I bought some BariMelts brand as well to take too. I'm hoping this thread will have some more good ideas for getting the full amount in without taking tons of pills or chews. If I don't find an alternative, I'll probably go with the bariatric advantage 500 mg chews, but I'm not thrilled about three chews per day indefinitely.

    Sample day of eating

Don't assume they are mistaken. Every surgeon has different post-op diet requirements. Mine allows for soft food on day three as well, including tuna. I plan to be more strict than what he allows. It's a small amount, but it's in the plan.

Where are all the august people

I am scared too. I'm scheduled for 8/31, and last night as I fell asleep I was thinking of all the reasons I shouldn't do this.. But then I think of the reasons I should, they heavily outweigh the alternative. There are always going to be stories of people who's surgery went wrong. I honestly believe the risks of doing the surgery are much lower than the risks of me staying morbidly obese.

    Help!

I love pickles, but I've never heard of pickle pops.. Is it just frozen pickle juice?

    Just Checking.....

Remember, even with less restriction, the part of the stomach they remove produces the majority of the huger hormone gherlin. So you feel full faster and more satisfied. I'm pre-op (11 days to surgery), but this was a major plus for me in making my decision.

    Endoscopy????????????????

I had partial sedation. I was awake, but loopy. Didn't really know what was going on. They had to keep reminding me to breathe (as I was coming out of it too- I kept holding my breath). I'd double check, as that doesn't make any sense. If it's partial sedation, like I had, it's not bad at all. I didn't have to get an EGD for my surgery, but I've had two of them because I have a hiatal hernia, diagnosed years ago.

    Stay at Home Mom Sleevers?

I'm a stay at home mom, and my son just turned one. I'm nervous about this.. I was told I can't lift more than 10 pounds for 4 weeks. My sister will be helping the first week, then my husband is working from home the second week. I'll have to play it by ear after that. If I need to, I'll have my husband put him in the car for me in the mornings, and go to my parents house. He is walking, and can go up stairs, but not down, and we have a lot of stairs in our house. He can eat on the floor if he has to, so I don't have to worry about his high chair, and I can do my best to avoid leaving the house and dealing with putting him in his car seat. My biggest concern is getting him in and out of his crib. Hopefully it will all be smooth sailing, and I'm worrying for nothing!

    Ughhhh

I'm pre-op, and this is my biggest fear I ask myself, do I really love food so much, I'd rather be fat the rest of my life? Rather suffer from high blood pressure, sleep apnea, sore feet and knees all the time? Logically, the answer is no, but I know it's going to be hard. I suspect I'll feel the same as you in about three weeks, when I'm one week post-op. I HOPE they once the weight starts coming off, and I start feeling (and looking) better, that I will come to terms with my decision a little more. I just have to remind myself that it's going to suck for a while before it gets better. Good luck in your journey!
  19. I wish BLIS was included in my package. It's the only thing I'm missing. I'm having my surgery in Boca Raton, FL with Dr. Shillingford, for $10k, all inclusive. Unfortunately, since I live out of state, I'm pretty much on my own for pre- and post-op, but the price can't be beat, and he is a reputable surgeon. I'm excited, but a ball of nerves! I'm on my pre-op diet which stinks!
  20. Wow, I just read my post again, and it really does sound like I'm post-op, lol.. Sorry!
  21. I should have been clearer, I'm scheduled for 8/31, so I haven't had my surgery yet. The surgeon's office told me that if I get any bills sent to me from the hospital, to forward them to their office. That was comforting, and I'm confident that I won't have any unexpected charges. I will say, luckily for me, my husband had lots of airline miles and hotel rewards points, so traveling out of state added very little to the cost for us.
  22. I ended up going out of state (not comfortable with out of country) for my surgery, and am saving over $13,000 by doing so. Definitely make sure you know exactly who will be billing you (hospitals often send out separate bills from each department, and I've read stories of people being shocked to get bills for something they assumed was included). Some surgeons offer all inclusive options, but you'll find that all-inclusive doesn't always seem to mean truly all inclusive. Some surgeons include pre-op testing and post-op visits/support in their fee, others do not. My surgeon is very clear that everything I need is included, and I will not have to pay a dime more than that amount (as long as there are no post-op complications- those are rarely included in the all-inclusive fee). That's what is making the trip to Florida from Minnesota worth it for me. Good luck in your journey!
  23. Me too!! Started my preop diet yesterday, and feeling miserable
  24. Me too! I'm still preop, so I still notice this. Looking forward to that not being the case anymore. Babbs, you are such an inspiration! You are gorgeous, and I love your "tell it how it is" attitude when people post nonsense on here!
  25. Wondering at the start of each season whether my clothes from last year will fit (almost always, the answer is no). My feet hurting just from walking around the grocery store. Turning down social invites because they involve too much walking and I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up.
