    Looking for preop friends :)

@kloveko729 I completely understand the opinion thing.. Fortunately I haven't had too many people doubt my decision (to my face anyway) but as long as you know you are making the right decision for YOU, their opinions really don't matter. They will change their tun when you are sitting on the loser's bench, looking fabulous and feeling even more fabulous! Feel free to message me anytime you need to talk.

    Looking for preop friends :)

@ I see your surgery countdown says 9/2. Does that mean you finally got your date for surgery the other day like you were expecting? If so, that is GREAT! Only a few weeks left, it will fly by..

    Looking for preop friends :)

@@guyfrom315 I hope your appointments go well. Best of luck on your surgery!!! The Dr. that I chose was originally from out your way and just moved here a couple of years ago to start a new bariatric program at another local hospital. I have heard great things about all of the bariatric teams out your way. I am sure you will do fantastic!

    Looking for preop friends :)

@@Knitchic I hope your appointment went well! My psych eval was pretty easy although I didn't have the hundreds of questions that so many people mention, but my session was split into 2 1 hour sessions, so maybe she just asked me them all that way? Either way, I ended up flying through mine and she told me on the spot that she was all set to clear me for surgery. So apparently I was able to keep a lid on my crazy well enough to get through that process! Just kidding, she laughed at a lot of my answers a lot but at the end we decided I had a normal amount of crazy.. I hope your's goes just as smoothly!

    Newbie who is Almost There!

@ that is great! Fingers crossed for you! I have a follow up tomorrow with my surgeon to check on my weightloss so far. (He wanted me to lose 30lbs before surgery).

    Newbie who is Almost There!

Congrats on taking the steps! My surgery is scheduled for 9/21 and I am certainly starting to get anxious! Hope all goes well for you.
  9. I had my initial consultation yesterday. My insurance doesn't require any special preop diet or anything, so I was given a surgery date of 9/21 (yaayyy!) Now for the not so great part... I had wanted RNY over the sleeve, but my dr told me he may not be able to do it due to my weight (I was 435 by their scale). He did say he could do the sleeve instead, but my chances would be better for RNY if I could loose 30-50lbs. He put me on a diet of egg and toast for breakfast, a healthy choice, smart ones etc for lunch and the same for dinner along with 80oz of water a day. He swears that this diet will get me down about 50lbs by surgery if I follow it to a T. I have a few reservations about this, one being all the sodium in those boxed type meals and the other being that I have hypothyroidism. Has anyone else had any luck following a similar diet plan let alone following it with hypothyroidism? I do take my synthroid so my levels are technically managed well, but I have never been able to lose more than 20lbs on any diet. Any insight would be appreciated.

Dr put me on strange diet and I have questions

Thank you for the input. So far, it seems to be working fairly well.. I am down 20lbs in 2 weeks.
  11. Thank you so much for the reply. I had my initial consult with Dr B. A week ago today and he told me in order to get the bypass instead of the sleeve, he would like me to lose 30-50lbs before surgery (which is set for 9/21). He put me on a diet of egg and toast for breakfast, atkins/smart one etc for lunch and one for dinner. I thought he was absolutely insane but so far I am down just over 17lbs in a week.. So I can't complain... lol
  12. Hi everyone! I was just wondering if there were any individuals in Upstate NY that would be interested in supporting each oteachin the weeks leading up to surgery? I am totally open to chatting with someone post surgery too..I just know that from my experience, this journey can be a scary/overwhelming one and we can never have too many friends..
  13. Thanks for the reply! I have made the call to CDPHP and inquired about any diet guidelines they had as well as cost. Basically I was told they don't have any diet guidelines and that my only OOP costs would be my $15 copays for my consultation and any other visits like that and a $250 inpatient copay. Thank you for all the info, it is greatly appreciated and helps me to get a grasp on what types of appointments I can be expecting.
