  1. Cambridge has a lactose free product made from soy. It is quite economical (about $145.00 per month). It lasts even longer if you don't have 3 shakes a day. I like the taste and all the yummy recipes and I think thats why its the only thing I could ever stick with. I am a distributor but am not really active in it right now. I could help you out if you are interested, pm me. Darla
  2. My surgeon also does PS, he said wait until I am at goal. Oh well, so much for the short cut. I know what needs to be "tucked" would be about 10 lbs of weight gone.

    Can the band tear loose

Yep. If you don't take care of it right away, you could get some swelling which could lead to needing a complete unfill for several weeks, then going back for a fill later. Until you can get to the dr., stay on liquids. You can mix slim fast shakes to make hot chocolate (not real good during the summer). Continue to get your water in, slow small sips. I just went through this and because I was losing weight, tried to just wait it out and ended up dehydrated and needing a complete unfill. I just got another fill (gained 7 lbs). You'll be fine but please don't wait, it ends up being more time consuming and expensive.

To all teachers.... need some help.

Hey there, Be sure and let parents know that you will be teaching subjects that adhere to your state standards. For example, "We'll travel back in time to witness the Greek myths in action" (for history). I teach 6-8 grades, special ed but most of my kids are at grade level they just have behavior problems. Touch on a bulleted list of math concepts, reading, and writing as well. I subscribe to edhelper.com for lessons at the touch of the finger stuff. I'll check some of my books for a intro letter. Best to ya! Darla

I do'nt have anyone else to talk to....

WOw! I think it is great that you have an appt to talk to someone. If that person (after a few sessions) doesn't seem to help, try another. Talk to girlfriends, journal about your feelings. Is your mother in law disabled? If not, let her know that you are just not available right now. She can ask her son (your hubby) for favors. He is in grad school which I know is demanding but your job and your kids are like having two jobs. I am a special ed teacher so I know what parents have on their plate as far as caring for their kids. Until you can make other employment arrangements, take time for you. Even if it is a 20 minute soak in the tub. Buy a daily meditation book (Women who do too much is a good one) and read it each morning. I have sooo been where you are and I know it is painful. It won't always be like this. It will pass and things will get better. While you are in it, however, you must have some coping strategies. Medication works for some, counseling, and the other things listed on t his thread. Please let us know how you are doing and hang in there, ok?

I need advice or encouragement. Thanks,

Wasn't it awful after awhile? I mean spices helped but I three of us from my work did it at the same time and boy, did our classroom smell of cabbage. Poor students!

I need advice or encouragement. Thanks,

Just my own experience.............but..........I fought with WW because they had a "minimum" amount of points I had to consume and for me, at 43 and already menopausal, it was too many points. I argued that I required less pts to lose and they said that if I chose to do it that way I would not really be doing their program. I believe that if I follow our dietary guidelines I will maintain my weight. Period. I need less food, vitamins, nutri-shakes, or something else to combat my weight problem. Point is .............. careful of what they say at WW. It is a great program but doesn't work for everyone, especially food/sugar addicts like myself who would just as soon pop some vitamins and spend the rest of my minimalized points on the delicious WW desserts. Its sooo what you eat and not just how much. Unfortunately for some, like myself, it is both what I eat and how much. I even "maintained" on the eat all you want cabbage soup diet.
  13. Based on my experience with zillions of diets....................my experience has been that if you aren't getting a good balance of protein and carbs you are at risk for brain fog type of stuff. When you are on your shakes, IMHO, if you make sure you are getting some carbs in as well as protein you should be fine. I don't think the band alone causes lack of concentration. ANd after 2-3 weeks you will more than likely be well adjusted to whichever shake you will be using and/or the foods your doc allows you to have.

    Five lbs of fat...

Wow! I must have muscle sized globs of fat instead of full sized ones ! LOL! Gotta start working out more....................!
  15. I am getting very worried. Maybe it is because I am coming up on 10 months post op and seems I am reading more and more about the severe back/chest pain/reflux issues. Is this in most of our futures? Should I just get the band out now? I have killer insurance (paid for almost all of my band) but my employer is discontinuing it as of October, '06 and switching to something else that is half the cost and covers half as much. I am so afraid that I will need the band removed and not be able to fund it! I can't believe some of the stories I have read lately...........our beloved bandland members in agonizing pain with insurance/doctors who will not help ??????? I need to get some perspective here. Seems like more and more of us are having "issues" the longer I hang out here.. Anyone else notice this?

Danger In Bagged Salad - Please Read

I think that now that I eat less I will shop at Whole Foods Market where they have organic food. I doubt that even that is completely safe though. Very scary stuff.

Folding Sheets, or, My Idea Of Hell

I gave up folding sheets and roll them into oblong tubes which I stack in a bathroom pantry-thing. I do not have a washer/dryer in my tiny house so I still go to the laundromat but only once a month. If need be I get out the ol' scrubboard and wash out a few things by hand.

    She had to drive herself.

Hats off to the woman for doing what she hadda do inspite of her hubby's behavior. Fear has many faces and he sounds fearful. I wonder if he is mainly worried about her health? Doubt it because thats why we get our surgery. Money? Angry she can't just "snap out of it" and diet and exercise? Amazing. I have people who have seen me try everything from pills to expensive diets (y'all know the etc.s) for over 15 years and still just say "couldn't you have just exercised and dieted?" I tell them food can be an addiction. Genes play a huge role. blah blah blah, it gets old.
  20. I've noticed that different men have different types of semen, some have a little very watery and others have thick salty stuff. One guy had such thick cloggy semen that I always pulled him out of my mouth at the "crucial" time. Otherwise, I enjoy the extra "protein". Places: Not really enjoyed nor recommended..............the bike rack at Panda Express (after hours, of course). Really Nice: In a jacuzzi, also on his workbench in the garage. Ok but wouldn't do it now: Outside in the hills on a rock (kept feeling like we were being watched, freaked me out),
  21. Thanks to all who helped me through my "self-induced" paranoia.............I have had to get 2 unfills and it just seems like any less of a fill and I overeat and what seems like a "just right" fill results in eventual acid reflux/back pain. I have learned a lot from you all and perhaps I need to just go on pure liquids when I first have symptoms. Sunsett: Hey Partner, thanks and ...............................yep (guilty) I was visiting the complications forum a little too often (how'd ya know?) (-:
