  1. Congrats to you! I lost that one more pound recently and updated my info on BP today. I checked my ticker to make sure the weight was saved and I'm at a BMI of 29.6. It's official, I'm certifiably no longer clinically obese (still overweight but getting there). Welcome to ONEDERLAND!!!

    Pregnancy testing

@@Kimmey16 I think that the impact of the anesthesia should be minimal. They actually advise opiate addicted pregnant women to keep taking their methadone. So being exposed to a similar albeit stronger concoction three times plus a bit of pain meds here and there is not likely to have a major impact. However I would strongly advise you to switch over to Tylenol for the remainder of your pregnancy (in consultation with your treating physician since I am not one). I think that the bigger concern would be nutritional and potential intrauterine growth restriction and low birth weight. You will want to majorly INCREASE your folic acid intake and majorly DECREASE your vitamin A intake. Have you had these levels measured yet? If not you should bring this up to both your obgyn and your bariatric surgery team. My levels only get checked every three months. You may possibly need monthly and really need to get on a pregnancy safe regimen asap if you are not already. Too much vitamin A and too little folic acid can both cause birth defects but otherwise low birth weight would be the only other potential side effect. If you are getting all your protein and liquids that should mitigate the risk significantly. Good luck!
  4. I am gastric sleeve and I do full fat everything. In fact, if I am having a weight loss stall, I just eat more bacon and it seems to get me losing again. What I stay away from is sugar, flour, rice and "bad carbs". I do have beans and smashed potatoes (mashed with the skins on) because unlike sugar and flour...beans and potatoes (with skins on) have lots of fiber vitamins (including potassium) and nutritional value (vs the purely empty calories from sugar and flour). Of course I do all things in moderation. Also you should be aware that many "light" or "low fat" or "fat free" items have added sugar or carbs to make up for the taste. That being said I do have a preference for light (not fat free) sour cream and light mayo...probably from years of eating it. Also with the light sour cream I am usually using it in my mashed potatoes with plenty of grass fed (Kerrygold Irish) butter, so there is already plenty of fat. Also since it's hard to get enough veggies I also purée some roasted cauliflower (fauxtatoes) and mix it about half and half with actual smashed potatoes. If you need more protein in your purées you can also use high protein "Fairlife" milk and/or look for "Bone Broth" instead of regular chicken broth (or just add a scoop of unflavored protein powder to the mixture.

    Lost More Than The Weight

I have lost 91 lbs and have lots of important work meetings (conventions) coming up. I still want to lose about 40 more lbs but I finally bit the bullet and bought some new clothes. Funny that I still shop at the same store (dress barn) only I no longer shop on the plus side. I just "replaced" my pants with smaller sized pants. The tops and dresses are more fun. I have also gotten a pair of black and a pair of nude peep toe pumps and sling backs. I just donated 3 big bags full of clothes and I probably have at least 3 more bags to sort and give (that doesn't even include all the suits which I have in a separate bin to give to dress for success). It's hard to let go of some of the stuff but SO liberating when you do. People REALLY notice that you have lost weight when you start wearing smaller clothes. The clutter of having all this stuff I don't need anymore makes it hard to find the stuff I do need. So the next three bagful a are happening next weekend. It really does make me feel LIGHTER and more accepting of my new and improved self.
  7. It's official I have now crossed over from the plus/woman's world side of the store back to misses I am wearing a "L" top still "XL" pants but getting there. I know these are "good problems to have" or at least that's what everyone's telling me. So if I'm normal size does this mean I'm "normal" now? Well I still have about 40 lbs to goal but I haven't seen this size in a VERY long time. Not since 2002. Just thought I'd share so you post ops will know what's in store for you. And the answer to the question is "no" I'm not and never will be "normal" but I'm me. And a happier healthier version of me. And I'm more interesting than normal anyday
  8. Stay away from strawberries raspberries or blackberry though bc they have too many seeds and you are NOT allowed to have seeds in soft phase. 1/2 a banana mixed in would give you a great potassium boost but no more than 1/2 per day with your protein bc they have a lot of carbs.

    Looking in the mirror

I have aged about 10 years in the past 8.5 months. Thank God for retinol. Wouldn't change a thing[emoji3]
  10. It gets a little bit better each day. Just get down whatever you can get down. Get medicine cups (you can get 100 for like $2.99 on Amazon). Anyway just do a "shot" (1oz if you can) every 4 minutes that you are awake. As other posters have stated it is the liquids that are most important. Alternate that with your liquid protein. And yes getting all that stuff down is exhausting, it's like a job, but right now that is your job... To take care of yourself. You got this! You can do this! I swear that it will get a little bit better each day and in a few months you will barely remember what a challenge it was
  11. I lost 75 lb by six month mark and my highest weight was 286. I'm hoping to hit the century mark by year 1.

    NSV crossed over

So excited the online orders are rolling in and now that I'm finally in "normal" sizes people at work keep asking how much have I lost. I actually haven't lost a single lb in a couple of weeks but I guess that with the better fitting clothes that it's more noticeable.

    Baby Food?

Baby food is disgusting. No need for it. Purée your own yummo food and/or eat soft food like yogurt and cottage cheese. Best first veggies to purée with some chicken broth is yellow squash or zucchini (don't forget a little salt and pepper). Yum yum.
  16. Helped my drug addict boyfriend kick a 30 year habit (and no I didn't know about it going in). He walked out on me and I realized that I had gained 50 more pounds in the two years that we had lived together. I was considering moving into a ground floor condo on account of the snap crackle and pop in my knees. Then when I would meet up with old friends for dinner I felt so rejected because no one would sit next to me (but now I realize that it was because there wasn't any more room for them to sit on my side of the table). I decided to spend my moving money on weight loss surgery instead. The rest is history. After I unloaded the dead weight around here I got sleeved and lost 88 lbs so far.
  17. Tell her that you are having the surgery, and that you are not asking for her opinion or approval, but that you love her and wanted her to know. Then ask her if she has any questions about the surgery and direct her to some really good websites or you tube videos where she can learn all about it. Tell her that you love her. Next.

    Denied by BCBS TN

    1) collect and send in your own paperwork if stuff is missing 2) get on medically supervised diet for 6 months 3) you must have weighed in higher at some doctors appointments sometime in the past OR just finance your surgery and get on with it. I had no choice and honestly you all go through hell trying to get insurance to cover it. And yes I will own one less car in my life and the car I currently have will have to last me another 5 years, but it's worth it. It's the best thing I ever did. Also is your current doctor a bariatric surgeon or some other kind of doc? Bariatric surgeons offices are usually very good about the paper work because they only get paid right if the paperwork is right. Good luck[emoji4]

    Sugar substitute recommendations?

@pheonixmarie - I use vanilla premier protein in my coffee it is so sweet that I don't need any sweetener and I am getting some protein to boot. Stevia is also a good all natural choice

    Strict insurance pre approval process

But one thing I can help with is to weigh yourself on the same day at the same time of day wearing the same clothes and pee first.

    Strict insurance pre approval process

Give it some time my dear or maybe post to insurance questions. Lots of us were self pay so we don't know how to answer your questions. Wish I could be more help.
  22. Vitamin water zero rise orange is the bomb dot com. I'm totally addicted;-)
  23. Throw the bread and the ice cream in the trash (in the outside trash not the kitchen trash where he will see it). And also you might want to start therapy, going to support groups there's the support group sponsored by your doctors office, for military wives, and also there is Overeaters Anonymous, which I cannot recommend highly enough. Now post surgery you will have to deal with letting other people eat what they want to. And not letting that effect you (if you feel tempted by what he eats for dinner, then just excuse yourself from the room and go do something else like start typing like mad to your bariatric pals). If you are going to cheat on pre op diet at least make it a healthy high protein nutritious cheat. Do not cheat with carbs or sugar or white flour. If you stay solid on your diet for 3-4 days the hunger pangs will go away, but every time you have sugar/flour/carbs it will bring the hunger gremlins back. We've all cheated so don't beat yourself up but honestly you're cheating yourself if you continue to sabotage yourself in this way. Big hugs! You can do this! You got this! And ALL of us are pulling for you[emoji41]

    Its happening! Now! Aahhhh!

Back up off those pain meds ask for Tylenol instead (it's the only pain Med I used as soon as I woke up from the surgery), and you probably will not have the breathing issue or as much nausea. Also do not forget to try try try to breathe into your spirometer as instructed every hour that you are awake. That will help the breathing as well. Take care of you girl. Congratulations and welcome to the other side!

    Sugar free Popsicles

But are you even supposed to drink anything before your surgery? I think I was told not to even drink ANYTHING 8 hrs prior to surgery. This is because anesthesia can cause vomitting and cause you to aspirate (breathe in) your own vomit during surgery if there is anything in your stomach. So please follow the directions.
