  1. Today I registered for the Race for the Cure 5k run. (What was I thinking?) The race is October 25th. Plenty of time to prepare, right??? I must admit, I can't tell you the last time these feet have hit the pavement in any sort of a running motion. First time for everything right? I was relieved when I found this forum. It should keep me motivated and focused. Any helpful hints? I'm all ears!!!! I look forward to keeping up with each you and offering my encouragement. Now lets kick some major butt!!!! :)

  2. Jen, I must tell you, you are not alone. The exact same thing happened to me. I had my surgery on Jan 2. and on the 9th I started breaking out all over my stomach. My incisions looked terrible. It just happened overnight. It was the craziest thing. It even spread to my arms. I finally got into a dermatologist and they told me, I must have been allergic to something that was used in surgery. But why in the world did it take so long to show up??? Anyway, after getting a steroid shot and using some prescription ointment, it finally cleared up. The dermatologist wanted to put me on prednisone as well, but my surgeon that placed the lapband said lapband patients shouldn't take steroids. Not sure exactly why. Anyway, it took a good two weeks to clear up. I was so afraid it was the band. Hang in there, it will get better!! Take care ~ Jennifer

  3. I am so glad I'm not alone!!!! I had my surg on 01/02/08 and lost weight the first two weeks. Now?? I'm at a stand still on the scales and am HUNGRY!!!! I told my husband I don't even feel like there's a band in place. I feel some relief knowing that this is normal. I just thought it was my imagination. I thought I had already failed, just like I did with all the yo-yo diets. Now I can't wiat for my fill on 02/14. It can't get here quick enough. Thanks for a great post!!!!

  4. Hey there! I'm a newbie too. I started the process in May 2007 also. My insurance required I do a 6 month monitored diet. I completed all my requirements and testing end of Nov. My insurance approved the surgery in 2 weeks. I was banded on January 2, 2008. What a way to start the year off right!!! So far I've lost 13 pounds, about 110 to go. I'll get there one way or another. Good luck to you!! It's well worth the wait!!!

    Cheers,

  5. My steri strips were stayed on 11 days. Day 11 I woke up with a terrible rash around my incision. I removed the steri strips immediately. The area the steri strips were attached has formed a large draining blister. It's also caused a rash all over my abdomen. Not fun. Went to the dr today and got a steroid shot. Woohoo!!!! They said it was a reaction to the adhesive. I wouldn't wish that on anyone!!!! Should be good to go in a couple of days.
