  1. I had my hubby take pictures of me the day of surgery from all angles and with clothing and with partial clothing. I have been complaining about the surgery (it has been tough) but oh my god. I look at the pictures and want to cry. How could I let myself get that way?! That's not me in those pictures!, not the real me anyway. Oh goodness guys, after surgery when questioning what the h*ll we were thinking.... Look at before pictures. You will feel better!!! ????
  2. Hi all I'm hoping my dr will tell me tomorrow that o can start on soft mushy foods but can you guys give me an idea of what that consists of? I am 6 days post-op and have been on liquid (not clear) all week. Thx! ????
  3. Ughhhh saltines sound soooo good! I'm only 6 days out but cannot WAIT for saltines!!!!
  4. Ahh poor thing. I'm so sorry you are in a dark place. I TOTALLY get it. I have been asking myself the same questions: "why did I do this?" "Was this really right for me?"I had my surgery June 30 so I get it. I am missing food like crazy and soooo tired. I'm bored too which is tough because I used to eat when I'd get bored. Breaking bad habits...
  5. At first I wanted candy. I wanted skittles and chocolate and popcorn. But now I just want normal healthy foods. Soup is on my last nerve! I have several different flavored but usually can't stomach them twice. I am sipping on 1/2 grape juice 1/2 water and in heaven. I'm just looking forward to chicken, or hummus, or healthy crackers, or even protein bars. I can do low sugar / low carb I just want to start it already. Even at the winery today I was totally content not drinking. I would smell my hubby's and was fine! But they have this bread bowl with Brie baked inside and it was calling my name. But I smelled it and I was good!
  6. I was going stir crazy and couldn't function at home for another minute. I just want to eat! But honestly I'm glad I did because I needed fresh air. I will have to ask my dr about the stitch. I was going to the bathroom every hour in the hospital. Maybe try just going back to liquids for a day. I know we hear "it's the best choice I have ever made" but I'm still waiting for that moment. I'm hopeful but the pain, lack of sleep, and liquids suck! Honestly SF stuff gives me an upset tummy too so that limits things. I'm sure in 3 months we will look back and laugh at what we went through. (We BETTER!, lol)
  7. soCalSue I too had watery bowels. Yuck. It's not TMI , I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I have terrible pain on my right side and I see my dr tomorrow so will ask. I'm not allowed protein shakes or cottage cheese yet I'm also still very swollen! I want it to go away.
  8. Ahh TeeNahh I'm so sorry to hear that. In the hospital I had BMs that were interesting but I was told it was because of the barium I had to swallow for the cat scan. Either way I wouldn't call them BMs so much as dark mud. Sorry, it's gross. Anyway, I am sooooo tired all of the time. I live near the wineries in SoCal and went to a Live Music session today from 12-2 just to get some air and I was EXHAUSTED. I also have sharp pain on my right side that comes and goes but it takes my breath away. I'm sleeping better but LOTS of naps during the day. I barely last two hours before I'm down for the count. I'm sick of liquid diet but know the importance.
  9. Yes! Brain hunger! I totally agree. I hate sitting and watching TV now because it's not fulfilling as it once was. Food made me happy, TV entertained me therefore food + TV made me completely content. Now, I'm anxious when I'm watching tv. Brain hunger sucks! But I'm not healed enough to go out and be "busy". Day 5 post op and feeling frustrated.
  10. Wow! TxMissy what is the secret to your success?! I'm only 5 days out and so bored on liquid diet but too tired to keep myself super busy.
  11. Hi All I am on day 5 post op and with such a limited liquid diet was wondering if anyone else has found something besides SF items. SF gives me diarrhea so I'm limiting my consumption. I might just be bored of liquid from pre to post op. Thoughts?
  12. TeeNahh how are you today? Getting better?
  13. I'm down 3.5 lbs since Tuesday's surgery. Still feeling bloated and passing gas but not very much.
  14. I am 4 days post op and as the gas starts to dissipate I notice the pain, as you described, as too much in my tummy or too much air with the swallow. I was told not to do protein shakes yet so maybe that is also part of it?? Not sure.
  15. My dr didn't talk about using gas x. It's okay? Also, is anyone having trouble actually passing the gas? I'm afraid I'm going to rupture something if I push so I don't pass as much as I need to.
  16. Ah TeeNahh I'm sorry you had a drain and so much pain. I was just telling my husband, "what the hell did I just do!" The gas pain, the bloating, the food cravings, I am struggling a lot. I got no sleep in the hospital which sucked and I'm sleeping as much as I can now. On pain meds for sure! I have a sharp pain in my right side sometimes so I will have to ask dr about that on Monday. Trying to be positive but it's hard. Plus, my addiction was food and I'm struggling saying goodbye to it. I guess I'm just in a funk.
  17. I'm having a reaction similar to yours. Not taking anesthesia that well. I have pain and I cMt tell if it's hunger or gas or what. Jealous and happy for those who were able to jump out of bed and walk. I wasn't one of those. I didn't walk on Tuesday at all. Wednesdayorning the physical therapist made me walk and I have done a few rounds since then. Lots of "bubble gut" and diarrhea. Hurts to burp and cough but feel better after each small nap. I won't go home until Friday.
  18. It's been rough, to be honest. I'm not sleeping well and it took me a very long time to come out of anesthesia. I have lots of gas and diarrhea. Sorry, TMI.
  19. Ohhh my surgery was 4 hours. Started at 1 on Tuesday and was not done until 6 with the hour of recovery. It has not been easy guys. Anesthesia was hard on me. It took me a long time to come out of. Even still I didn't get any sleep Tuesday night. Anesthesia had me very itchy and gave me weird dreams. The beds are so tough to sleep in too. I have had broth and water but cannot tell when I'm full. I wonder if my pain is hunger or internal incision pain. I was not able to walk until Wednesday morning which was tough!!!! I feel very lightheaded. I also have a lot of gas and diarrhea. Yikes. Tmi, sorry.
  20. Yeah TeeNahh we are on our way!! I'm driving right now!!! I look forward to hearing from you to see how it went!
  21. Good luck!!! I'm on my way to the hosp too!!
  22. Mine is at 11:30 too! I am looking forward to some anxiety medication. If they don't offer, I will ask. I just worry about being under anesthetic for 3.5 -4 hours. I have never been under that long.
  23. Oh jeez! If you're walking around why can't they take out the catheter ?? That's crazy!!
  24. I actually have cried a lot today. Both good tears and fear tears. But mostly good tears. I'm glad I finally stuck up for myself and determined I am worthy of feeling better about myself.
