  1. I went to Puerto Vallarta in July for my surgery. I went alone because I would rather my boyfriend come with me on vacation than for a surgery. I was scared when he left me at customs but after that, I was fine. I'm proud of myself for being strong and for going through it.

In reality, it wasn't hard. Mexico is a friendly, beautiful place. The people at the hotel and hospital were terrific. My surgeon was so wonderful that 2 days after surgery I was walking the Malecon and sitting on the beach (I felt like I could have done it the day after surgery but I had to stay in the hospital until then). I literally felt like I hadn't had surgery at all. Recovery was a breeze.

My life has changed incredibly in these last 4 months. I can't wait to go back to Mexico in January...this time maybe I'll be in a bikini!

  2. My BMI was 30 when I had surgery 3.5 months ago. I've lost 42 lbs since then and my BMI is 22.6.

My doctor told me that with my low BMI, I should focus more on inches lost rather than the numbers on the scale. He was right. I've noticed a lot more improvement in how my clothes fit and how quickly I move through pant sizes (I started at size 16 and now I need to go shopping again cuz my size 10s are too big).

This surgery has changed my life. I was miserable, had no self esteem and my thoughts revolved around my weight issues before surgery. Now I feel free!! I love myself and my life!! I enjoy exercise because I'm in awe of what my body can do now. I paid out of pocket ($5000 in Mexico) but it was worth every penny! I have my life back. Freedom!!

  3. So happy to hear from you all. I'm 3.5 months post op. I am super proud to be down 40 lbs. I'm only 10 lbs to goal. I was a I of 30 at the beginning of all this

Now I'm down to bmi 22.6. Woot, woot!!

I feel so happy and grateful to have had this surgery. The weight loss is slower now so I'm hoping that I lose another 10-20 lbs. Even if I don't, life is happier and I feel free and excited and enthusiastic about life. Woot woot!!

  4. Are you taking your Vitamins and getting your Water and Protein in? Its very importamt that ypu do. It will help in your recovery.

Have you tried electrolytes to help with the lethargy? During the first week or 2 after surgery I found that to be a big help. I found powdered electrolytes at the pharmacy. You just add the powder to water and it doesn't taste bad.

It took about a week out for me to stop feeling tired and needing naps.

  5. I was sleeved july 11. I'm down 37 lbs and have about 23 to go. My bmi was 30 when I started and I'm down to 19.6!! Once I got into the normal bmi range, my loss slowed down significantly. I'm working out lots so the muscle gain is reflected on the number on the scale too so I try to focus on how I look and feel rather than that pesky number on the scale.

  6. I'm 11 weeks out. For weeks 4-9 exercising like crazy. I hit a stall week 8 and figured it was muscle gain. I do a couch to 5K running app, lane swim, and kayak. I was working out 5-6 days each week but now that I'm stalled I'm slacking a little.

I know I need to add strength training too but I'm procrastinating on that.

Swimming is awesome because you don't sweat as much and it's easier on the joints, etc. But it's still an amazing workout.

Kayaking is an excellent arm workout and so so fun, plus the scenery is amazing. I'm sad to live in a place where I can't do it year round. The season has pretty much come to a close.

  7. Dr. Hidalgo in Puerto vallarta Mexico did mine in July. My BMI was 30 when I started my week long pre op diet so a little under for my actual surgery. I have been very happy with my surgeon, my easy recovery and my great results (my bmi is now at 23.5 "normal"!!)

I'm new here. Sorry for the duplicate????. I'm sooo glad you posted. I'm having the surgery next month and my BMI is 30. I've been searching the Internet for months trying to find someone to talk to that started with a BMI of 30.

No worries. I'm no expert as I'm only 10 weeks out but I'd be happy to share my story so far, if you like.

I'm so happy I didn't wait til my weight got even more out of hand before getting this surgery. The weight was significantly impacting my life and my self esteem but now I am free from that burden.

Send me a message and we can talk more if you are interested.

  8. I was sleeved july 11. I've lost 35 lbs. I have been in a stall for a few weeks but am trying to stay positive. I'm working out 5-6 times a week. It's amazing how much easier it is without those extra 35 lbs!!

My daily Breakfast is a Protein shake. I just can't get my Protein in otherwise. I eat a lot of chicken breast but am trying all sorts of new recipes to make sure I don't get bored. Snacks are usually greek yogurt. tuna is a go to for me as well. 0

My multivitamin makes me feel nauseous for about 15 minutes afterward. Not fun but it's a small price to pay.

My multivitamin makes me feel the same way. My Nut says it is the Iron and to try taking it right after I eat. It made a huge difference!!

Thanks. I'll try that!! Totally appreciate it
