  1. http://www.weightlossteam.com/ Is the site for Dr. Hidalgo. I only sought him out because someone I knew was happy with him. As long as you do your research and are comfortable in the surgeons care, I'm confident that it will be wonderful with whoever you choose. Good luck! Exciting times ahead
  2. I am going to see Dr. Hidalgo in Puerto Vallarta on Saturday. I chose him because my boyfriend's best friend had the same procedure done in January. He can't say enough about the doctor, medical staff, and facilities. I did research, and the prices seem pretty close and with the amazing feedback I got from the friend who got it done, I decided to go the same route. I can keep you posted on if my opinion of Dr. Hidalgo changes once I get it done, if you like. Hopefully there will be nothing bad to report tho!!

Yep. I had a rough time too and I'm only on day 2 of my pre-op. I'm in canada so it's not my independence day either. I didn't notice before how many food ads are on tv!! Omg. I'm thinking it'll be early bedtimes from now until surgery because evenings are the worst! Congrats to you on doing so well tonight MaryPh. You did great! Way to go! And happy 4th of july! Exciting times ahead
  7. I'm going to see dr. Hidalgo in Puerto vallarta. He's with the Weight Loss Team. A friend of my boyfriends got his done with Dr. Hidalgo and cannot say enough about the doctor, medical staff, and facilities. Hopefully mine will go as smoothly. (Again, I'm not endorsing him as I haven't even met him yet but that's where my surgery is scheduled for in a week from today). http://www.weightlossteam.com/
  8. Ia a Canadian going to mexico for my procedure. It is costing about $5600 US (so $7000 Canadian), including airfare. Thankfully health care will be free back home in canada if there are any complications (knock on wood that none of us have any complications). Expensive endeavor, but we all have important and wonderful reasons for doing it. And knowing it is so costly will help me to do whatever it takes to make it as successful as possible (like drinking these awful protein drinks. Lol).

    July sleevers?

Me too. I wasn't planning on it, but ended up eating really poorly. I started my pre-op diet early. I am hapy to have some structure and just not feel gross from overeating. The protein drinks are ridiculously gross tho but it'll be worth it! And yes, that's a great mantra. I will eat it again one day. We aren't breaking up with the food, it's just a well needed break! Some "me" time. Lol

I'm getting my surgery July 11 in Mexico. My dr wants me to do a 5 day pre-op but I'm adding a few days to that and starting tomorrow (I'm a little hard on my liver). It feels like my surgery date it so close but so far away! I'm so excited!
  11. how did travelling alone go? Would you recommend it to others or try to steer them away?
  12. I'm going to get my sleeve done in Mexico on July 11.
  13. I am July 11 in Mexico and I am going it alone. Is that totally crazy? I have only told a select few about the surgery and frankly, I'd rather travel with them for a Mexican holiday rather than a Mexican surgery. Please let me know if I am totally insane for thinking I can go alone and not be a basket case!! And let me know if you can be support for these days!! The stories from a friend who got sleeved this winter and some in this forum make me think that I can do this, while others (and my nerves) think it's not a very good idea at all. Thanks for any advice and any buddies and mentors and any support!!
  14. I am very happy to hear this as I am set to get sleeved by him on July 11th. Any suggestions for someone like me who is nervous and unsure about what to expect?

Me too!! I feel like it's so close but so far away!
  16. I'm looking forward to not having my size consume my every thought! In the past few years I've put on a lot of weight and at this point I feel like no matter what I'm doing or where I am, my mind tortures me with self doubt and worry about what everyone else is thinking about me. It's exhausting. Looking forward to putting that behind me and replacing those feelings with pride, ethusiasm and happiness! And yeah...I'm also looking forward to dancing and being part of the action instead of watching the action!!
  17. Mine is July 11. I'm very excited but nervous! My Dr says I need to do the pre-op for 5 days but I am going to start it early just to be safe. It's a protein shake and clear liquid diet. I've read lots of comments on the forums about how awful it is. I'm hoping it isn't as bad as people say. supporting eachother will help, I think.
