I am doing this for many reasons and I have to admit that health is not the top reason: 1. Career (I do lots of public speaking and it affects people’s perception of you) 2. Prejudice (Many people are strongly biased against fat people. I also feel it has cost me promotions at work.) 3. Vanity (Sick of being fat and not fitting in airplane seats) 4. Knees (They can't take the punishment anymore) 5. Clothes (I where a size 60 coat and a 22 shirt, when the big and tall store can't stock clothes for you it is time to do something)

I have decided to have the LB and self-pay so I don't have to tell anyone. I won't deny it if asked, but I don't plan to advertise the fact I had it done. For me it is a deeply personal choice, that I have spent many years arriving at this point. Other then my wife and sons, I don't plan to tell anyone at work or in my circle of friends. For me it is the results that matter, if people don't like the method that is their problem. I will just enjoy the benefits.
