Snowbird, I had my surgery by Dr. Martinez (Dr. Ortiz) on 12/17/07. Are you going back there for your fills? I had my first fill done in Las Vegas and think I will probably keep going there since it is so close to my home in St. George, UT.

I have the same question. However, I have only had one fill on 2/15/08. I am still feeling a little restriction and wonder if I should wait till it is totally gone, or if I should go for another one shortly.

I had my first fill on 2/15/08 and received 3 cc in my 10cc band. I am feeling a little restriction but wish I had more. However, I have noticed that if I don't chew chew chew, I can feel it all the way down!!!! I still feel hungry quite often and am not sure how to fix that. My Dr. recommended that I have 125 grams of Protein a day, there is no way I can eat all of that. Anyone have any idea of how to get that in? Thanks!!!

I am having a hard time knowing how much food I am supposed to eat at a meal!! I have read several articles on how much to eat and it ranges from 1/4 cup every meal, to 1/3 cup every meal, to 1/2 cup every meal, to no more than 1 cup every meal!!!! Which one am I supposed to do? I just received my first fill yesterday and I don't want to hurt my band!!

Thanks for your replies!!! They have helped tremendously. I have a 10cc band and on my first fill (Friday 2/15/08) the Dr. put in 3 cc. Today is the first day that I am eating solids, and I am not feeling any restriction. Is that normal just after a fill? Or does it take a while for the restriction to start?

I has by surgery done as Dr. Ortiz as well. But I went for my first fill to a Fill Center in Las Vegas, which is much closer to my home in St. George, Utah. On the Obesity Center's website there is a link to fill centers usa where you can find a fill center closer to your home. I had a great experience with my first fill, and it was done with fluro as well!!!

I got my first fill!!! The Dr. put 3 cc in, and I am feeling really good. biggestloser2b, How are you feeling now after your 3cc fill? You said it had loosened up, but are you still feeling any restriction? Mellis, how are you feeling after getting the 5ccs? Are you feeling restricted? How long did you guys wait to eat?

Here's a question to those of you who have a 10cc band. When you received your first fill, how much did you get, and did you notice it? I am going in for my first fill today and am curious as to how much I would get?

My port is under my left breast too. I was banded 12/17/07 and it is only sore now if I stretch to far. Or sometimes if my waistband is too tight. My BMI was quite high so that is probably why my port is where it is.

Lisa 717 I had my lap band surgery in Mexico by Dr. Ortiz's office on 12/17/07. I was very impressed with the office and am gald I went there as I saved alot of money. I am scheduled for my first fill on 2/16/08 in Mexico, but am thinking of going to a fill center in Las Vegas, which is closer to my house. There is a link to fill centers in the US on the Obesity Center website if you are interested in looking at that option. My band is a 10cc and I'm curious as to how much of a fill I will receive.

Thanks!!! How long ago did you have your first fill? I just can't afford to go back every month. I wonder if a bigger fill would last longer? Have you lost two pounds consistantly since your fill?

Destiny, Do fill like you have restriction with the fill you had? I also have a 10cc band and am going to get my first fill on 2/16/08. I am going all the way to Mexico and want to make sure that I get a decent fill.

I had my surgery on December 17, 2007. I lost 21 lbs on my pre-op diet and have lost 20 lbs since my surgery. Right now I feel like I don't have much restriction and am watching everything I eat....I don't want to gain any weight back!!!! I am getting my first fill on February 16 and my band is a 10cc. How much of a fill should I get on my first try?

What is the most common side effect of a stretched pouch? Is it the heartburn and puking? How would one know if their pouch is stretched?

How would you know if your band has slipped and what makes it slip?

I had my surgery on 12/17/07. I had the same problem with the dry heaves. Mine started on day 3 and lasted until day 8. I felt like I was in hell and wished I would have never had the surgery. My Dr. told me the same thing your Dr. did. When the stomach swelled from the surgery, it made my band tighter, which in turn made it so hardly anything was going down. I started drinking my liquids a tablespoon at a time. It would take ma 1/2 to drink 8 oz. of broth. Once I started drinking from the Tablespoon, i quit dry heaving. I quit taking my medicines because I always through them up. Now, I can take them and they don't bother me. It seems like time is what made everything better. Time for my stomach to heal and time to drink everything by Tablespoons. Good Luck!!!!!

How would I know if my pouch is stretched? I too would like to know what the signs are?

When you eat does your pouch swell so that you can see it? Mine swells, or something swells when I eat, and then after a couple of hours it goes down.

Hi, I am LDS and I live in St. George, Utah. I was banded 12-17-07 in Mexico by Dr. Martinez. I have lost 40 lbs from the start of my pre-op diet till today!!!! I never thought I would be able to lose weight and am loving it. I am going for my first fill in February and hope to fill more restriction as I don't have much now, but still watch very carefully what I eat. It's always been my dream to go to Navuoo. My three children went about 6 years ago and I am jealous!!! We are planning on going for our anniversary in a couple of years. I have a question though. Where is our new stoma? I mean in position to where the port is? Is it about the incision or below? Every time I eat, my stomach swells and protrudes right above my port. Is this where the new stoma is?

I know I sound nieve, but what does MOM stand for? I had my surgery on 12-17-07 and have been constipated ever since. I have been using stool softeners, but that is not have the effect I need. I am at a stand still at losing weight, and I think it is because I am so plugged up!!

Where in Utah are you located? I am in St. George. The paid is probably gas from the surgery. Keep walking and it will eventually go away. It took a good week for mine to subside.

Thanks for your message. I was banded on 12/17 and have also been very strict with my liquid diet. In fact, for the first week I threw up everyday. I got on the scales yesterday, 10 days after surgery and have only lost 7 lbs. After reading how everyone drops 30 lbs in three weeks I was getting a bit discouraged. But after reading your post, I will keep on trucking!!!!

Thanks for the quick reply. I am feeling a lot better. Thank goodness. I have only 8 more days until food.. My appetite is coming back, how do i fight off the hunger pains while on an all liquid diet?
