  1. That would be awesome!!!! I'm from the Windy City....Chicago Where's my bariatric family from ???!!! also from Chicago
  2. Dr. Hussain is my surgeon as well. I actually work for U of C. But if you like I'm planning to attend the support group meeting here are the university. It every first Tuesday of the month. I have my first evaluation so I won't know if I'm able to enroll so fast. when is your first visit... that visit will be with your surgeon, nutritionist, psychiatrist, and his nurse... once they agree that your a suitable candidate you be put thur a series of test... depending on how fast you can get in and get those appointments will determine fast you can schedule surgery. I have one more test and I can schedule for the second week in September.
  3. Dr. Hussain is my surgeon as well. I actually work for U of C. But if you like I'm planning to attend the support group meeting here are the university. It every first Tuesday of the month.
  4. I'm having mine done at U of C in Hyde park...
  5. I'm great... ready to get thus sleeve.... I'm super excited
  6. it did me like that for 20 mins... try logging in online a few times... not the app
  7. the two diet is to shrink your liver, because it sits directly over the stomach... it makes getting to the stomach easier.
  8. My surgeon say 4-6 weeks, post op will be 2 weeks after surgery... depending on how I'm feeling, he will write me a return to work letter either good to return before my remaining 2-4 weeks are up or to continue recovery.
  9. I have not been at my job long enough to use FMLA, so I chose to tell my manager. I am shooting for surgery on September 4th because that is the Friday before the long weekend and also because my son's birthday is September 1st and I didn't want his birthday to be overshadowed by my surgery. My manager has been great and said that he will do everything he can to work with me. I plan some personal days and vacation days combined. I've mentions it too coworkers, but not to my manager. I'm planning to complete FMLA just as soon as I'm given a surgery date and return to work day. FMLA with contact my manager anyways... I have about 2 weeks for vacation/sick time, but I have UNUM STD... so I'll have money coming in... to cover the other four weeks I'm off....
  10. yeah... i didn't have a supervised diet... but the process took five month because of scheduling issues. Welcome to the group
  11. My sleep study was last night, interesting experience. My tech didn't wake me up to put on a cpap, but that doesn't mean I don't have sleep apnea. Won't know for 3-4 days, hopefully sooner. I may have to come back for a second study, but sleep with a cpap.
  12. oh please add me... it would be better for us to communicate. Traceybaker2011@hotmail.com
  13. We are all getting close... its really happening. I'm super excited about it
  14. Sleep study tonight... hoping to get a surgery date after this... boy the ball took forever to roll.
  15. same with mine....its frustrating I want /need to plan around it but can'tEvery office is different... I got approval before my preop testing was done. My office doesn't schedule surgery until after the sleep study test... after I'm scheduled, they well schedule my NUT visit and my anesthesia visit. So the ball isn't rolling until after Aug 7... my sleep study. But I still have to give my job 30 day notice and start my FMLA... that the only draw back, you have to wait more time, on top of the time you've already waited, because they don't schedule until after a certain test.... lol...but my surgery will be in September, hopefully the first or second week. i got a pre approval in the beginning, but they say at my Drs office not a final one there until all tests, appointments looked over by insurance. Wth? I have anthem bcbs but their all different I've seen. I guess the bright side of mine is only a $250 deductible. I'm assume that your surgeon has his/own requirements... the insurance pretty much is behind the surgeon... sounds like. Just get your surgeons requirements done.
  16. My initial appt was on 5/20... I was 275, I'm now 278... I contribute that to me going cold turkey on the smoking. I've heard you gain weight when you stop smoking... I don't think they will cancel my surgery when I'm battling a smoking addicition. Its been almost 2 months since my last cigarette.
  17. My sleep study just got bumped up from 8/7 to 7/10... with this test done... I can schedule my surgery, my nutritionist visit, anesthesia visit, and get my FMLA/UNUM paperwork completed. I'm at my job bouncing off the walls. OMG... The ball is about too start moving... still want my surgery in September...Even even August makes more sense. I'm going to be a September Sleever
  18. call, ask to speak to your surgeon directly or his nurse, chances are he/she may not know that you haven't been scheduled yet, give them a time frame to get you a date and threaten to cancel, that should get their attention. When you threaten to find another surgeon..... you will be accommodated and given a date a top priority, you are no a VIP patient. Surgeon's do not like to miss out on money... not money, but surgeons also get in trouble with their quotes for the month. I know because the surgeons in my department have quotes every month.
  19. Welcome... your story is similar too mine. Obese all my life even as a child... 116 at 7 year old... my highest weight was 304... managed to get too 285 in two years and maintained at 275 for the last 3 years... but when you see pictures of you... it is real. Pictures speak a thousand words.... I'm looking at a early September sleeve...
  20. same with mine....its frustrating I want /need to plan around it but can'tEvery office is different... I got approval before my preop testing was done. 21. Time seems too be moving at the rate of a turtle. This process started 5/20... approved on 6/18, smoking cessation appt 7/10, 8/7 sleep study( i can schedule surgery), 8/10 prep session, ob/ gyne appt 8/18, 1 NUT visit, 1 anesthesiologist visit... than preop starts 10 days before surgery. I'm so anxious and excite... I'm I the only one?
  22. I remember my visit... she asked a ton of questions. Than sent me home with 300 questions too answer. I turn that in on the 10th... but I was medically cleared based on my responses in the visit. Those questions were something else...
  23. I'm plan to start vblog the day before my preop diet starts. The date of/ after surgery. Vblog every week or every other week.
  24. Everyone is getting so close... unfortunately I couldn't get the see my ob/gyne today, scheduled on a cycle day ???? but thats rescheduled for the 18th of Aug. Can't schedule surgery until after my sleep study, than I'll have my prep session, a NUT visit, and anesthesia appt.... I'm so excited... going to start documenting my journey on you tube when I officially have a surgery date.
  25. I have optimum nutrition rich chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla. They have many other flavors, but these are great. I've been making my own protein shakes using unsweetened cocoa powder, honey, natural peanut better, stevia, dark chocolate, frozen strawberries, blueberries, bananas, blackberries, and mangos. You tube helped me create some of the best protein shakes. Only difference is, I'll be using 2 scoops of powder when I start my preop diet.
